Yeah, I suppose so. Perhaps the Kinect was based off of the Eye Toy, I dunno.

is this a suitable subject though? I mean, its more of just an opinion, i would recommend changing the title or something. Cuz right now it really isn't that good of a topic. If you decide to change the title, I would recommend calling it "Kinect based off of the Eye Toy?" or something like that.

not really, the eye toy used a camera and put you on the tv, and wasn't very accurate. The kinect uses sensors to detect your hands, feet, and body in a way the eye toy never did, which allows for more control in motion based games.

The kinect may be related in some way, maybe design, but the kinect is much more advanced. its hard to say, really.

I do see some similarities, but I think Kinect is a lot more accurate and better to use. I only had 1 game I liked on the Eye Toy, yet I played Kinect at my cousin's house and I liked all of the games there (except the new Sonic Riders game. That game sucked) So I think they're similar in a way, but at the same time very different.

Both are really accurate fore their respective uses, and the way they work. Both have latency. While Sony had an early idea, and concept that was put on the market back on the PS2, the Kinect does have some key differences. Owning both consoles, I will probably buy Playstation Move before Kinect due to costs. (I need a new xbox, and more memory, which are the additional costs to be able to use Kinect).

So much for Move being an HD remake of Wii . . . finally someone with some common sense. Thanks for trying to get this out there for the people who say the above statement. They claim Kinect is more innovative than the Move because of this, when the Kinect did the same thing to the Eye Toy. Granted, they are really different, and the Kinect tech. is more impressive, but they can't claim to be original.

xXLoneWolfZz : iv played multiple games using the eye toy and it does recognise what you do very well
kyuremu : there were motion sensitive controls for the ps1 so in technicality i could claim that wii ripped off sony, equally the nintendo 64 had a voice recognition function although few games used it, i could say that and games using headsets/voice recognition are rip offs.then there was the first console to have online gaming, granted it never worked properly but still, they were the first(i cant rememeber which system had it first now)as for paying for peripherals there are so many different types of wii controller and they dont come free.
Bobbynibbles : exactly, who cares anyway, i wouldnt defend a company, theyre there to make money, were here to play the games and have as much fun as possible, its not my concern if i get better equipment by them copying others, making stuff exclusive just annoys me anyway.

my conclusion:who cares?i enjoy voice control, i enjoy online play, i enjoy motion detection and i enjoy the fact my ps3 controller has inbuilt motion sensor, i enjoy it has a web browser and trophys.i dont care if ps3 games stop being exclusive because the companys are just betraying there fans by making them exclusive anyway.
