LISTEN UP, here comes another movie review Viz contest!!!

Give me a review of Christopher Nolan's Inception. The most informative, helpful, and good review will receive a whooping 1000 Viz. (Yes, I increased it this time because the last contest was a bummer.)

Remember, no 1 or 2 sentence reviews, give us some detailed opinions. Have fun!!

Deadline is 1/17/2011(mon) 12:00am.

Inception is a mind-boggling, yet fantastic movie. While the crown jewel of this movie is the unique concept, the other elements of the movie do not fail to meet expectations. There are a few small flaws, but they fail to diminish the fantastic vision of this film. My overall score for this movie is a 4.75/5

Plot (4/5)- Inception's worst feature is probably the overall background story behind it. Cobb's tragic story feels cliched at times, and the constant appearances by his children break up the otherwise smooth action of the plot. Perhaps James and Phillipa could find their place in other movies, but a suspenseful action movie is no place for children. Mal and Fisher's reconciliations offer all the necessary drama needed to drive the plot. Also, the way Fisher joins the team so naively is odd... but it is a dream after all. In spite of these hiccups, Inception is mesmerizingly exciting and complex. The dream layers allow for both constant action and momentary breaks in the tension simultaneously. The ending, however, brought as much anger as praise with its ambiguity.

Acting (5/5)- I don't have much to say about the acting, as it was excellent overall. Ellen Page stood out as Ariadne, I can easily see her as a real person in that situation.

Visuals (5/5)- Many modern movies rely heavily on massive explosions or brilliant, colorful CGI to excite the audience. Inception breaks the mold yet again by always using realistic objects in every CGI scene. They represent the idea of a dream perfectly by having normal objects do things that are fantastic and impossible.

Soundtrack (5/5)- Inception's soundtrack synchronizes perfectly with the rhythmic action of the movie. Most of the songs consist of powerful string orchestras that have been seamlessly merged with more modern synthesized sounds. It sounded so good that I bought it!

From the director of the Dark Knight comes quite possibly the movie of the year (I believe it is better than The Social Network). The overall feel was incredible, and this is one movie I actually love enough to own.

Plot (5/5)- A lot of people rate this lower because the plot and the twists are confusing as hell. But that's what I like about this. It made my mind actually put together the plot. It didn't form itself like a lot of movies do now a days. Call me odd, but I feel awesome when I piece together plot twist after plot twist. The story is overall complex, but being the intellectual I am (not trying to sound snobby. Failing), I liked the complexity enough to warrant a 5 star rating.

Acting (4.5/5)- A few parts could have probably been played better. Eames and Yusef were boring for me, but being background characters this wasn't a fatal flaw for the movie. I'd say the best acting performances have to go to Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Paige, and the dude who played Arthur (can't remember the name for some reason). This group is a well cast team that would make any director ecstatic.

Visuals (5/5)- You mean to tell me they somehow managed impossibilities like that? Get out. I was blown away by some of the scenes. One in particular that appealed to me was the scene when Adriadne first entered the dream world to be an architect. The creation was so flawless I almost believed it was real myself.

Soundtrack (5/5)- Hans Zimmer strikes again. And again. And again. It'd be a crime if this masterpiece didn't have a masterpiece soundtrack. Thankfully it did. Thank you Hans Zimmer. For enlightening us.

Overall Rating (19.5/20= 4.88/5) EXCELLENT movie. However, nothing is perfect so I will simply let this rating stand for the time being =)
