Do you think that gender has any bearing on how a politician runs their country?

I think you created too many threads.

Nothing wrong with just picking one thing you want to discuss and sticking with it, as opposed to 20 threads, 15 of which nobody will answer.

Traduweise : I think it's not your place to say anything. Whether they follow the rules or not will be decided by us mods. Even though she has made a lot of threads...a lot of them....

It depends on the politician really. If the politician finds gender as important then yeah, it's going to affect them.

I don't think gender has any real bearing on politics. Sure, males will think differently then females (and visa versa), but really how they think/act has more to do with their party affiliation then their gender.

It probably does. A female president may be more likely to follow a more feminist agenda. A male leader may be less concerned.

I know you made a lot of threads, but most of them are interesting. You actually lose Viz from making threads, so you gain nothing if no one responds. Based on your rapidly growing reputation, you don't seem to be someone who would deliberately spam either.

its proven that women have a different mind set to men but i doubt it wil laffect things too much for example authoratarian/totalitarian leaders have been both male and female in the past. It dosent matter what ones mind set in when runnign a country at the end of the day the allocation of good, services and money are what counts. And yeah i've noticed the amount of threads you make too and how intellectual they are i gotta say well done :p provides me with alto of places to post haha, i really like posting in alot of yours threads lol

In my opinion gender does play a role in how  politicians runs their country. However, I think that everything a person is plays a role in this. A politician who grew up in a middle class family will do things differently than an upper class person. There may be differences between how a young and old politician runs the country. Basically, anything that defines who that person is will affect how they run the country, and this includes gender.

I don't think gender will have a drastic change on policies, but it does play a part in who that person is thus affecting what they think and do. There are female leaders in many parts of the world and they still do things similar to previous male leaders. I mean it's not like they start spending billions of dollars  buying shoes for the population. Yes I realize I stereotyped, but the same thing could be said about males in an analogy. Again, it won't drastically change their policies, but to some extent it will play a role.

Yes I do just because men and women think fairly differently. I would like to say that it does not but it sadly does.

Yeah, if women ruled the world, there would be no wars. Just a bunch countries not talking to each other.

Someone has a messed up layout.

Yes, gender will have an effect because of our cultural bias of gender. It will affect how they act and how others act towards them. A female president, at least the first one, will more than likely not advance a feminist agenda precisely because that is what men would expect her to do, as evidenced here. And when politicians use the word "feminist" it is almost always negative. Male politicians react differently towards female politicians, whatever their role, and vice versa.

Gender plays some role in politicians due to the fact female can sexually reproduce while male can't and how the male and female both think differently.

Lights : Sexual reproduction is a trait of all humans, male and female. If you meant that females are the ones that actually give birth, then you would be making a more accurate statement. However I do raise the question of "what the heck the ability to bear children has to do with politics?"

I do think gender will have a slight impact on a female politician's politics, but not too much. Women are living in a man's world, whether we like it or not, so if you want to make it in politics you need to follow their rules. Has anyone noticed that most of the female polticians that we here about all the time are skinny and look pretty for the most part? There a lot of fat, horrible looking male politcians but no one says anything. Also any women who might actually be good at running the country seem to be unable to get press coverage. Only airheads like Bachman, Palin, and Pelosi ever make the news. (Though Hilary Clinton seems pretty smart, I just don't agree with her politics). These women also sport male views and hardly ever address women's issues. Queen Elizabeth I once said in a speech to her male troops that she may have the body of a feeble woman, but she has the heart of a king. I just wish all these years later that women still didn't have appeal to men to make it in politics.(sorry for the rant, but ever since this whole debt ceiling thing I've been mad at our political system....)
