YourMajestyKen : All eight planets in our solar system orbit the Sun in the direction that the Sun is rotating, which is counterclockwise when viewed from above the Sun's north pole. Six of the planets also rotate about their axis in this same direction. The exceptions—the planets with retrograde rotation—are Venus and Uranus. Venus's axial tilt is 177 degrees, which means it is spinning almost exactly in the opposite direction to its orbit. Uranus has an axial tilt of 97.77 degrees, so its axis of rotation is approximately parallel with the plane of the Solar System.

Water is one of the only known things that expand once it hits its freezing point. Atoms in a substance move closer together as they are cooled (losing energy), so MOST things are more dense as solids than they are as liquids. Water is one of those very few things that actually arrange in a shape that causes more space in between the atoms/molecules. Almost everything else continues to get closer when they hit their freezing point (and colder).

Here's something interesting, did you know that we are actually programmed to age and die?

The reason why we age is because our cells can only replicate a certain amount of times before they stop and die off.

Our human chromosomes have this outer part of it that's made for filler, it's called Telomere, every time our cells replicate, it takes off a little bit of the Telomere, as the Telomere runs out, we age more and more.

Once our chromosomes no longer have any Telomere, they completely stop replicating, thus, our body stops renewing itself.

What happens afterwards is basically, your cells slowly start decaying and dieing off, aging into the final parts of being an elder until hardly any of your cells remain, then you pass away.

Some other living things out there don't have a Telomere limit so they're biologically immortal, they'll never die of old age. However they can still be killed and affected by diseases and viruses.

I wonder what caused us to have this limit to our lives? If the Telomere thing weren't limiting us we could live forever as long as we aren't killed or fall prey to a strong disease.

Kajio : Complexity of the organism has a lot to do with the Telomere limit. You mentioned some things don't have a Telomere limit. Just to clarify that, ALL multicellular organisms have a Telomere limit. The only living things that don't have this are single celled organisms. The reason for this is because they don't have to renew themselves (they can't because they are only one cell. There are no other cells to replace). They just keep replicating by mitosis. So they don't age the same way we do, but they still die over time. I have a biology degree, and I have never even heard about a real living thing that is biologically immortal in the sense you were saying.

rcarter2 : I wasn't too specific, when I said some living things don't have a Telomere limit, I didn't mean they literally had no limit, I meant some species can regenerate Telomere indefinitely. The one I heard about was a type of Flatworm that could regenerate any part of itself, including down to the chromosomes, making it pretty much ageless. But that doesn't mean they don't die, a lot of other things outside of genetics can make their life spans vary greatly.

Don't trust me completely on it, since I didn't do research in a lab to prove it myself, I only heard about it through articles, videos, and some other places I occasionally go to.

Oh and this video mentions it at some point.

Moshers (people who are participating in a "mosh pit") have been known to exhibit gas-like behavior. They have been observed bouncing off of each other in ways that can be described almost perfectly by the laws governing gases.

Did you guys know that winds on Neptune can reach 2,000 mph? Or that one sugar cube worth of a neutron star weighs over 100 million tons? Light hitting Earth right now is 30 thousand years old. Every second, 100 lightning bolts strike Earth, and there are 60,000 miles of blood vessels in the human body. Every hour, the universe expands a billion miles in all directions. Also, astronauts cannot belch in space, because there is no gravity to seperate the liquid from gasses in their stomachs. And also if you think our sun is big, think again, the sun will look like nothing in comparison!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9YskjYoyNc

In each nucleus of every cell in your body, there is 6 feet of DNA, that is only 50 trillionths of an inch wide. That means that inside of you right now is over 6x1013ft. of DNA in your body, or around 60,000,000,000,000ft. of DNA. That is long enough to circle the earth 456,344 times. Yet if you bundled that up into a rope with 456,344 strands, the circumference of that rope would still only be approximately 0.0169 inches, with a diameter of 0.00539 inches, making the circumference smaller than the length across of a grain of salt. Yet if the DNA was not wrapped up, and instead one single stranded rope, it would be around the distance the Voyager 1 Spacecraft is from earth. It could also go from the moon and back 6,000 times. SCIENCE!

slimeface1212 : Not true. First, a gas tank can only release Carbon Dioxide if it was filled with Carbon Dioxide in the first place. A tank filled with Helium or Hydrogen can't release CO2 since they don't have Carbon or Oxygen. And they don't just have a 50% chance of randomly exploding. They will only explode upon certain conditions such as having them filled past their pressure limit, keeping the gas tank in to hot of a temperature, etc. If you do what you are supposed to do, then they can't explode at all.

Did you know that by the year 2015, there will be around 1 zettabyte of stuff on all of the Internet? To put that into perspective, if everyone in the world accounted for the same amount of that data (assuming estimated population of world around 7.2 billion in 2015), each and every one of us would have accounted for about 129.35 Gigabytes of information across the web, or the equivalent of about 1,808,444 emails each. That is also equivalent of every one of us uploading 44,151 .mp3 3 minute songs.
