For all of you that don't know about it, PS3's Move is basically a vamped up Wii Remote technology, and Kinect is Microsoft's Xbox 360 attachment that will allow the player to use their body as the controller. Do you think that these will overtake the Wii's massive market in the future? In my opinion, they are too highly priced right now to do so, but they have serious potential.

Nope. I think that Sony and Microsoft are just copying the Wii to try to rake in some extra money, but I think most people will stick with the Wii. Although I think Kinect does have some potential.

The Wii already has a million shovelware games ready for release, and a few good ones ready for release or in development. I think this says enough. I don't think third parties will switch to another system to spam. They kinda like making the Wii look bad... That reminds me...
Remember how I said I hated motion control? Well, I got the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Wii game for 10 dollars at Sam's Club(no joke.)... Why not? I'm still perplexed by the price... |

Wii is the original. Move/Kinect is a failure and plan to rake in more money for Sony and Microsoft.
I have all 3 consoles but still don't own Move or Kinect.

Not really. I think it will boost them up to the Wii but not overtake it. I think Move and Kinect are just shammy get-rich-quick-schemes, and I don't intend on getting either, unless it's for free.

I think that it has the potential to overtake the Wii, but Sony and Microsoft would have to kick it up a notch if they really intend to see the results that they are looking for from Move and Kinect.

Natal wont do so well, everyone has already seen motion in the industry by the Wii. The Wii will still reign supreme, Microsoft and Sony should just focus on getting good games for there platform. Also, this applying only to the Kinect, I would find it weird to play without a controller. I mean, when I play a game, I want to use a controller, not play pretend and wave my arms around. With the Wii, at least you are holding something. That is just my opinion though.

Move is not targeted at the same audience as the Wii. It certainly will have several casual games, but Sony's main bid for it is motion-control for the hard-core gamer. Not that I think totally ripping off the Wiimote/Nunchuk combo was a good idea, but meh.
As for Kinect... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It's a boatload of... stuff that I won't say. Seriously, have you seen the commercials? The people playing it look ridiculous, and that's saying something, seeing as I go the whole route playing Wii Sports Resort. And the games? You can't expect me to believe any fun, non-party-centric games that actually work will be controller-free. Sorry Microsoft, but this thing's designer must have been high. Either that or he likes shovelware party games *shrug* .

Compete? Possibly. But overtake? Doubtful.
Regarding Move, My guess is that all those people who baught the Wii for Wii Sports the first time won't necessarly be fooled into buying a PS3 for Sports Champions or EyePet. The Wii seems a lot more user friendly than the PS3 for one thing, and user friendliness was one of the Wii's selling points for casual gamers. I dunno, you can't really tell for sure, and my guess is that it will certainly NOT overtake the Wii because you haven't really heard diddly squat about how much success it's had recently (which means it's "meh"). I don't really care for Kinect either, at first glance it really just seems like jacked-up EyeToy. If developers can find a way to have the majority of games run with it - like Call of Duty, Halo, Madden, etc. - then it might have a chance to compete fiercely in it's own right. Until then, I don't see how I could efficiently play CoD without a controller.... |

If they put out some really good innovative games. Really it seems like a s***ty version of the wii to me. As of now, it reminds me of wii if it only had like... wii sports.
If they come up with like a Street Fighters/dbz style fighting game, or some good Uncharted type of adventures, there's a good chance that either system could dominate wii. I think the biggest issue actually IS the lack of a controller. The way the systems are designed, the trick is going to be making the gamer feel like the integral character in the game. With the wii this is not an issue since you have a controller. It can be reserved for First person gaming. HOwever with no CONTROLLER, you aren't controlling the game, you are the game. I think it will take a lot of innovative storyboarding and game development for these to take the wii. Or a lot of pop culture douchebags who just buy it because its new and fancy looking. Same reason most people by macs. They look awesome. |

They say that copying is the highest form of flattery. I don't know if that's exactly how it goes or even who "they" are, but, I feel that most people who want a product that is being made by a few companies (in this case, motion technology used for video games), they generally go for the cheapest, original, or the best. Wii is the cheapest and the original and I have no idea what the quality is of the new games so 2/3.

Nah. The Wii, as said earlier, is backed by a bazillion third party games already, where as the Move and Kinect have very few. The Wii, basically, got the head start. Also, the Move looks kinda funny.

Ehh..I seriously doubt it. Even the Wii has at least some sort of controller to it. Kinect just makes people look...dumb, im sorry, but it does, I've seen the commercials. Besides, anything but a controller would feel so unnatural..so leave my controller with a bunch of buttons, thank you very much.

Why do Sony and Microsoft companies want to copy the Wii?They couldn't think of any new add-on so they just decided to have motion gaming.Me personally I preffer the good ol' controllers. Then again, that's just my opinion.Kinect has potential but I'm not buying it.

Well, Move IS just a complete ripoff of the Wii, so no, not at all. But with the Kinect, it has no controllers, and that's huge in the world of gaming. Within a year, it will completely overtake the Wii, because it's just better in every way, and plus it has the option to have games that do not need Kinect. It's everything a gamer ever dreamed.

Well, in all due honestly, it already has. I dislike the Wii, the only thing it has going for it is Mario and Sonic, and honestly, they aren't as good as they used to be in my opinion.

alexanyways : Funny. considering how Kinect IS just a complete ripoff of Playstation Eye. Not having any controls IS the problem, you NEED a controller to actually move around and nearly everything for Kinect has been on-rails meaning it'd be nearly impossible to actually have a moveable RPG or a moveable FPS without it being on-rails. What ever happened to simply using a controller? Leave the virtual reality for the Dave and Busters arcades.

Move just took the WiiMote and put a ball on the end. It's just a copy and the games will probably use roughly the same controls as Wii.
I'm a dedicated Nintendo fan, but I think Kinect has the potential to overtake Wii. It depends on how well Microsoft uses it. I haven't tried it yet, but Game Informer had a few complaints about it. The one I remember is how hard it is to pause. You have to hold up your left hand for 4 seconds to get it to pause. Walking out of the system's view only pauses in some games. Others will keep going. |

There is no way that Sony or Microsoft will take over the motion control business. I mean both companies are coming to the motion control party some 4-5 years too late. Nintendo has a FIRM grip on the market in that respect. Hell, Nintendo seems to want to go away from motion technology so I bet the next system they release will be trying to go away from the whole motion thing. All the while laughing at Sony and Microsoft.
