I would say Fried Chicken, although its amaing given its popularity around the world and with certain communities how this, I belive, Southern delicacy has had such a universal impact, and there are so many chains and restaurants serving it.

True. There's Southern Hospitality, and Southern Heart Attacks that taste oh, so good. I'm from Bama, so I know quite a bit about that. Not that I've had a heart attack before. I'm a big fan of hot wings, and I'd have to say that's one of the biggest American foods.

Lets see... where I'm from, in Pennsylvania, I'd have to say McDonalds, Taco Bell, Starbucks, KFC, Wendys, Chinese, and about any buffet is typical food for us. Not alot of people make their food homemade anymore so easymac, hotdogs, hamburgers, Campbells soup, ramen... things like that. XD Now if you want SOUTHERN cooking... my mom does alot of that. Beef stews, spaghetti, fried or baked chicken, parmesans, casseroles, baked goods, you name it. *is hungry now*

To update some stuff, I was wondering if a corn-dog is American because of the movie Ratatouille, where in one part the restaurant manager mansions Corn-dogs as "American".
