I like RPGs a lot more than I do platformers. In RPGs you get a deep story, gameplay that demands thought, and in some cases an emotional connection to the characters. Plus platformers are a lot more linear than RPGs.

In general, I lean in favor of RPGs. This mostly applies to WRPGs, such as the Zelda series. JRPGs are generally not very good (with a few choice exceptions).

Nobody likes platformers that much? I'm suprised. However, I'm not suprized enough, as I too lean toward RPGs. But I have to give credit to platformers though. They gave birth to some of the most memorable game characters of all time (think Mario, Kirby, Sonic). It's too bad platforming is a dying genre though.

Also, I'm not sure if you can consider The Legend of Zelda as an RPG. Not to be harsh, but Zelda is a Japanese game, not a Western game.

Easily RPGs. Dont get me wrong. Platformers are crazy fun. But nothing beats the drama, the time put into an RPG. IE Final Fantasy 7? You know how long that is? How about Grandia (short). I beat that in like 40 hours. And I was goofing off. But it was still amazing.
