I'm a big fan of movies that make you think while you watch them...I wanted to give an example or two of some good ones so you guys could watch them or list some of your own so I could see them.

This movie might be known by most of you but: Donnie Darko is a great movie, that you could watch over and over and find something new each time. It's about time-travel and boy with schizophrenia that makes friends with an imaginary 6-foot tall demented bunny rabbit named "Frank". It's quite odd and I recommend it to anyone. Most of the "goths" (sorry for the sterotype) probably saw it or heard of it already.

Ok, Get Shortie. It is pretty much a s***ty movie until like the last 5 minutes. Then it all adds up and throws you one. Pretty great.

Did you ever read the book? It's even better, I used to make "Tyler Durden" my name at message boards until I read the book.

I have to find it, then I'll type an excerpt.

John Q. It was just crazy what happened. The Bourne Identity/ Supremecy (don't think I spelled the second one right.) It makes me wonder if something like that could be out there and be so secret that we wouldn't know about it at all.

The Butterfly effect.

Also... ur sterotype isn't correct. Its more of a emo/hardcore move. Most real goths don't watch alot of movies. I-Robot techniclly... i mean the fact that if theres more then 1 rule they must contridict themselves somehow.

Ok, here is my short list:

Donnie Darko
The Butterfly Effect
Fight Club
Identity

and the major one:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

That movie really made me think, because it's plotline is so out there that you cannot help it. If you don't know, basically the two main characters, Joel (Jim Carrey) and Clementine (Kate Winslet), had a relationship that ended really bad. Clem goes through a procedure to erase Joel from her memory. In retaliation, Joel decided to do the same thing. You see their relationship through flashbacks of his memory as they are erased. Joel realizes that he doesn't want her erased, and thus starts fighting in his mind to save part of her in his memory.

It really makes you think about it... if you could, would you erase all memory of a person from your mind? Good and bad, every single memory of a person. I saw the movie with my ex-boyfriend, and in a lot of ways the characters paralleled us to a point that it was creepy, and also made me think even more about whether or not I could do such a thing. I don't think that I ever could.

Garden State is in a leauge of its own. Its a mastry of film. Watch the movie one time and only look at the objects in the background...... its insane about the time and planning that went into that movie. I would recomend watching the movie 5 times, that way you absorb everything in the movie.

The Last Samurai? It was a great movie but I found it wasn't too difficult to understand, the switching from English to Japanese was annoying though.
