I do not know if anyone here has played Crash Bandicoot for the Playstation 1, but I have some fun facts about it. I know that PS1 games are not part of the retro game room, but I can't help myself wanting to share these facts.

Crash Bandicoot was/is the top selling game series in Japan, that was produced in the Western hemisphere.

Crash Bandicoot's popular shuffle dance (if that is what it is called) was originally created for advertising purposes in Japan.

Pokemon was originally one person's pet project that he convinced others to help him with, and surprised most of the developers when it took off like it did.

Some of you think:why is mew after mewtwo in the pokedex? Well thats because mew was the last pokemon to be created in red and blue,it was added without much warning. As a result some people who helped make pokemon red and blue didn't even know it was a pokemon. That also explains why on the back cover it says "it's going to take all you've got to collect 150 Pokemon in this enormous world" instead of "it's going to take all you've got to collect 151 Pokemon in this enormous world."

XBAND was an early online console gaming network for SNES and Sega Genesis systems. Basically online play, but s***ty as hell. Lol it was said somewhere that you were lucky to conncect with someone online. Mabye 2 ppl at once.

1) The Gamecube and the GBA SP to a lesser extent both had the ability to play 3D games like the 3DS but the price of the special screen was so high at the time they canned the idea. The only game known to have been made for 3D at the time was Luigi's Mansion.

2) In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Meta Knight's mask was originally supposed to have a large crack when his % went above 50.

3) Gastrodon from Pokemon Diamond & Pearl was originally supposed to be in Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire.

4) Chain Chomps appear in both the Mario and Zelda franchises despite being called something else in the latter.

5) Mew was created by a developer to be a secret Pokemon only the team working on the game would know about to combat Mewtwo, who at the time was the Pokemon with the highest stats.

6) Luigi did not appear in Super Mario Sunshine because Mario wanted a vacation away from his brother after what happened in Luigi's Mansion.

Gameline: The CVC GameLine (Control Video Corporation) was a cartridge for the Atari 2600 which could download games using a telephone line. Its kinda like Onlive, or gamefly but different, and old.

When a user registered with the service they were given a PIN. This PIN was used to log into the central CVC computer and download the requested games. One of the benefits of registering was that you were given free games on your birthday.

GameLine provided players an opportunity to compete in contests with selected games, where they could upload a high score. Prizes would be awarded to regional (and supposedly national) champions. One such regional prize was a GameLine windbreaker.

Each subscriber to GameLine also received a professionally printed magazine called GameLiner. GameLiner consisted of information about new games added to the service, questions and answers, advice on better gameplay, and a list of all currently available games on GameLine.
