Well, none of us didn't expect this type of announcement, especially from Sega themselves.During The Game Awards 2023, Sega has announced not only one game, but five games that are being developed at the moment. It's not even original IPs, in fact, these are new entries from beloved fan favorites franchises. The trailer has confirmed that Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and Crazy Taxi are getting new entries in the series, all of which are currently looking promising. I find it rather surprising that we're getting a new Streets of Rage game that quickly, as the fourth game was released three years ago. While it may seems that it's only these five games bring announced, the trailer has also confirmed that more games are also being made, so it's likely that we may eventually see an sixth entry of Virtua Fighter in the future.Nonetheless, it's indeed an very exciting to be a Sega fan.

That's indeed unexpected. It's true that reviving franchises is a common trend in today's society, but revealing all of a sudden and out of nowhere that five of those franchises have new entries incoming definitely wasn't in anyone's radar.

I sincerely wonder what more franchises could they be developing. A new Virtua Fighter would be good, not my favorite fighting game but could be fun to play. Maybe they're working on a new NiGHTS, it was also a renowned game from back then. And I'd have to delve a bit more to investigate if I'm missing anything that my memory can't recall right now.

2024 is already set to potentially be one of the most legendary years in videogames. The new Tenkaichi, this massive franchise revival by Sega... And other things that are still to come and even be announced.

Probably the best announcement from this year's TGA. I think out of all these games, the most I'm excited for is a new Crazy Taxi as I played a lot of the original 2 games on the Dreamcast as a kid. Curious to see how it ends up and if can match the excitement of the original games.

Oh and it better have an awesome soundtrack!

I'm excited about this. SEGA owns a lot of great franchises that they don't do anything with. Out of the games you listed, here's the order of my excitement:

  1. Crazy Taxi: This would be epic as a modern game, maybe with mechanics similar to GTA but without the focus on crime. Also, they need to bring back Off Spring.
  2. Streets of Rage: The Streets of Rage 4 game that came out a few years ago was actually really good. So if they can pull off something similar to that, I'd be excited.
  3. Jet Set Radio: This is not a game I played a lot of but I played it casually on the Dreamcast in short spurts. It's one of those games that just felt good in your hands to just skate around.
  4. Golden Axe: I liked these games back in the 90s, but the slow combat didn't age too well. Still love the music though.
  5. Shinobi: Never got into this so much, but did play it as a kid.

Not all of the franchises that they're reviving are among my favorite SEGA franchises, but I'll take what we can get (for sure Crazy Taxi and Streets of Rage are).

EX Palen : I would love to see a new NiGHTS game.

Crazy Taxi was one of my favorite games growing up so I'd be really excited to see what a new one looks like. I had a lot of high hopes for Taxi Chaos which was supposed to be a spirtual succesor but it ended up being one of the most disappointing games I ever played but hopefully that won't happen again,

I saw that and I was excited! I'm wanting the VM2 as well, I'm surprised that they are making more things for the Dreamcast.

I'm hoping that I can play the new Crazy Taxi that is coming out!

I grew up with the original streets of rage. I was happy they decided to continue the series with the 4th game. I'm glad we are getting a 5th game. To me streets of rage also known as Bare Knuckle is a good game. I was concerned that the 3rd game in the series killed the series but that is not the case.

Golden Ax- I think I played that some at one of my cousin's houses. I remember an X game, but that was the only time I played it.

The others I know about, but I don't think I played them or if I did they did not leave a good impression on me.
