So from what I understand about thirty years ago, MTV had a block called MTV oddities and it was an animated block of shows (though it was really two) that included two shows, namely The Maxx and The Head (it's a shame the Maxx only lasted one season imagine the crossover potential, but I'll get to that in a minute)

The Maxx is based on a comic and was about this homeless Superhero that lived in a box and had created this surreal world called The Outback and somehow he managed to rope his social worker into it and there's this bad guy (who is a serial rapist) that's well kind of manipulating the both of them into seeking "The Truth" or whatever it was.

The Head was well kind of a weird scenario it's about this trade school student and he wakes up one day and suddenly it's huge and it's because this alien is suddenly living in it, but he's a good alien and he's trying to save the world from this other alien, and along the way (and thanks the the student's love interest) he meets up with some other freaks that will join him in saving the world, and I guess it must have taken off in the Beavis and Butthead universe because in the Pilot episode of Daria there's a student wear a "The Head" T-Shirt, but there's something that's kind of off about it, if it's a show in that universe why did Beavis make a cameo in the first episode?

now hear me out, I didn't get MTV until 2006, long after the network stopped being cool, so you're probably wondering, how do I know about these shows? Well Teletoon (now Cartoon Network Canada) aired them, during their adult block (this was the early 2000s I had reached the double digits but I still didn't know any better) and yeah I watched them both behind my parents back, and recently I revisited both shows.....and I am shocked at myself that I watched them behind my parents back, because well, The Maxx actually brings up Rape, which was something I wasn't aware about yet (there weren't any rape scenes, they just kept referencing what had happened to Julie but that Gon dude did abduct her once) I don't recall The Head having anything similar but I haven't revisited them all yet, but I think Teletoon may have put them back to back because the episodes were very short like *one google later* ten minutes long (this was a habit Teletoon had with most shows that were only ten minutes an episode as most networks like Fox Family just showed the ten minute segments) and well, when promoting both shows they never put anything on them that stated that it wasn't meant for a certain age group but even if it said it was meant for the 18+ crowd I probably would have ignored it anyway because you're reading something from someone who also watched Duckman and was also unaware of how kid unfriendly it was (but considering the way Duckman treated Fluffy and Uranus it was probably a BIG hint) but they probably didn't because even the Simpsons didnt' have a label but that show was good for all ages

well I talked about a couple of obscure shows why you don't talk about an obscure show too

One show that comes to mind is from the 1960's and early 1970's. That show is Hogan's Heroes. It about a bunch of prisoners of War in a German POW camp as its set in WWII. But they have tunnels rigged up. They blow up bridges, capture high important officers, and other things to disrupt the Germans right under the officers of the cam's noise.

The show was well known. Reruns would use to run on TV land which is where I discovered the show. I am from the 80's and was familiar with this show due to reruns. However, due to cancel culture this show has mostly been forgotten. A lot of the streaming services no longer have it available to watch. You tube has removed it. When asked why they said because it has the N@zi symbol in it. Despite it being about heroes who cause havoc that eventually leads to the defeat of the N@Zi's in the show. Its a fun show and a good one. But as I stated due to cancel culture it has not been forgotten about.

Another Show that I remember seeing in the 1990's was produced by the British and that show was Alo Alo. Alo Alo was also set in World War II. It ran for nearly a decade starting in the 1980's lasting into the 1990's. In the late 1990's the show started to appear on US Television and that is when I discovered it. The show focuses on several groups trying to hide stolen art. Also the French resistance is featured and is trying to help two British officers escape back to Britain. The Cafe owner where most of the action takes place in his cafe. Is a member of the resistance. But he has to deal with the resistance and the fact that German soldiers/officers dine at his cafe. Also the British airmen hide in his cafe. The German officers are trying to hide their stolen paintings from their superiors.

Overall, its a funny show. However, it has been forgotten about. Once again due to cancel culture. Due to having N@Zi flag in it as it is set in the 1940's in WWII most streaming services have taken it out of their library. It is no longer seen on TV. It has mainly been forgotten about.

So yeah, these two shows were once popular and won awards. But over the past few years they have been forgotten about except for those of us who watched them.

I actually heard that Werner Klemperer the guy that played Col Klink would only agree to do the show if Klink was portrayed as an idiot (because he had a Jewish background in real life)

classgame: That is also what was interesting in the show is a lot of the actors where Jewish in real life. 4 of them had run ins with the N@zis.

Werner Klemperer-Fled Germany for his Jewish religion.

John Banner (Sargent Schultz) survived a beating by the gestapo, but was able to escape to Switzerland and made it to the USA.

Leon Atkins (General Burkhalter) was beat by the gestapo and left for dead. After they left he got up and walked into Switzerland where he would make it to the United States.

Howard Caine (Major Hochstetter) was Jewish but his parents escaped Germany before the concentration camps.

Robert Clary (Corporal Lebeau) played as one of the heroes was actually in a concentration camp. He was branded, but managed to somehow survive.

In separate interviews Werner, Banner, Atkins, and Caine said to them the show was therapy for them because they got to make their enemies look bad.

Speaking of obscure shows, does anyone remember "Eerie, Indiana"? It aired in the early '90s, and man, it was weird but cool. It was about this kid named Marshall who moves to a town named Eerie, and let me tell ya, the town lives up to its name. Everything strange and paranormal seemed to happen there, from people who never age cause they're sealed in tupperware to an eerie mailman who knows everyone's business. Honestly, it's like a cross between "The Twilight Zone" and "The X-Files" but for kids.

The show wasn't super long lived (only a single season) and got forgotten among the other big hits of that era. I stumble upon it during some late-night reruns in early 2000s and it got me hooked. Its one of them shows you watch and think, "How did I miss this back then?"

Anyhoo, just wanted to toss that one into the mix. TV shows from the past had their own charm, especially before the whole streaming era. Sometimes I feel the best gems are buried under modernity's flashy surface. And btw, tornadocam, totally agree with you on how cancel culture sometimes forgets the context and intention behind older shows. It's a shame, really.

Okay, so this isn't, but I feel like I just forgot about it. Bad Batch, I always forgot about it! Like, nobody even talks about it either! So like??? I bet it'll be obscure in about 5+ years.
