The other day I saw an old thread on this topic so I thought I would revive it! How many words do you average per post?

Personally, my goal for the past several years has been to keep a word average higher than Davideo7 after I think he mentioned on call it was impressive whenever a user kept a word average higher than his. Speaking of which my average word count per post at the moment is 86 while David's is 76 so I'm a whole 10 words above him in average but of course he has wayyyy more posts than I do so I don't know if it's really all that impressive but I do find myself a bit annoyed when I have posts shorter than 80 words but I guess that's just me being competitive with myself.

My average before taking up my admin position a few years ago was around 22ish I believe? Back in before 2015, where probably a majority of my posts are from, I was... rather a simplistic poster, lol. And also generally not really wordy.

Now, as of right now, it's 44, so it has basically doubled. By my own personal observation/guess, I think in modern-era I average probably 100ish if I'm just posting to post, but if I'm actually putting effort into my reply, it can go up to 400. My thoughts happen very fast and my fingers are able to keep up with the speed, so I tend to just type every thought and not feel any sort of exhaustion from it. As long as I'm not spamming and still get the jist of what I'm trying to say across, then I think it's fine.

Of course, if I was doing any sort of official communication way back when, I tried to keep it short. I realize a majority of non-posters don't want to read anything more than 50 words. lol

SonicOlmstead : It says on this site I average 210 posts per posts. It really depends on the post. I think the reason why my post average is high is because I used to be a game reviewer. I used to be part of the staff. A lot of my reviews were long.

Words per post is overrated, simply a nice way to know who either word pads or doesnt

Or they just write a bunch of reviews but how many people could that possibly be.

My current average is 42, which is up from the 36 or so I averaged back in 2013-2014 when I made a majority of my posts. I could keep going but see there isn’t all that much to add to the discussion, or maybe they is, not sure I get to make a decision on that, but anything under 500 words per post just isn’t good enough.

I think I easily average more than 100 words per post. My average on site is exacerbated due to reviews and guides, but even on posts alone I tend to go north of 100 and even 200 with ease.

I guess I either have a lot to say or I have a very long and complicated way of saying it, but I don't dislike this wordy nature of mine. I think it's better to "oversay" something rather than not saying anything at all. Maybe that's also why I've never been into Twitter and its text-size limit xD

I've been averaging around 80 to 100 words per post for the last couple of years with my career average slowly rising and getting close to 70. It's very easy to make long posts but at the same time there are many active threads that don't need a lot of words so it usually balances out in the end.

I'm at 60 right now, but it's been gradually increasing since 2013. Not because I care, or because I'm trying to write more words per post, but simply because I had just turned 14 when I joined Vizzed, and now I'm a 23-year-old with an English degree. My ability to express my thoughts through words has definitely improved.

My average words per post hovered around 130 for the longest time, but that was largely because of reviews and joining the site when I was only 14. Within the last few years it's been steadily dropping, now down to 124. I don't really care though, however, it is interesting to see how different my posts are now compared to a decade ago.

My word average per post is 31. Largely due to my lackluster posts back in 2013. I've been slowly raising my word count recently, and it has went up by 1 word, and since i'm getting back to reviewing games on here i can definitely see my word count skyrocket.

It says on my profile that I do about 49 words per post, but I did have a bit of a mean streak when I was 12-15 during the peak of my activity where I didn't say much in many of my posts. Faults of being a dumb kid.

Now, I feel like it's necessary to fully flesh out thoughts in my posts when necessary and most things I end up posting have at least 100 words but can crawl up to 500-1300 depending on the passion I have for the subject.

Depends on what I'm typing, usually if I'm doing a review I work at 100+ words but if it's normal posting where's the effort

Now that I’ve been doing reviews, my average went up from a 42 words per post to a decent 61 words per post last time I checked. I mean that’s a huge gap in my opinion but I’m not usually a poster, or rather there’s not much to post

I do 90 words on average but recently I've been doing more towards 150, 200, 300, 400, 500, 550, 600. But I have been doing less, which is better then doing too many, I also have been getting better grammar, so yeah, I have been trying to type better.

Due to the reviews i've been posting my word average is now 35. I believe it was at 33 just a before the start of the TDV. Overall i make sure my post is atleast higher than my average, not for the sake of a higher word count but mostly to keep my post at a decent quality.

I'm at like 70+ now, but in TdV it's like 20-500.

I am very happy with my 70 word average. I used to try to post longer posts to get it up higher, but honestly, why? Just because I want to seem wordy and smart? That's ridiculous and vain. Now, I focus on being succinct and clear.
