Dear all you users of Vizzed,

Hi, I'm Zeldisaster. 30 years old and originally joined back in 2010 when my gf at the time (dramabethie here) introduced me to the site as a way to play video games easy and free that would be hard to track down and buy in most cases otherwise. So I checked it out, ran out of my 5-or whatever it is-credits that guests get and I felt making an account wouldn't be too much of an issue. I also learned making a few posts would get me more of the site's currency and I did. And because of that, I didn't post much at first until one day I got curious why the rest of the site even existed lol.

This was the first forum I'd ever joined. I didn't know how it could be seen as fun to just... talk. Anyway cut to about a year later and I ended up spending QUITE a percentage of my logged-in time just posting threads and replies on the forums. Eventually I stopped going to the Game Room entirely.

After posting often in the forums, I became curious how others were able to make their posts have pictures and moving parts, even changing the color of the text or in Davideo's case, a parallax background (still one of the coolest things in my opinion) and after some digging I discovered that this site allowed users to use HTML to write code within their posts, and I used a site called I think w3schools to teach myself HTML. This was the first coding language (well, markup whatever) I ever learned, and after a few pointers from Jigsaw, even dabbled in CSS to really spice up my profile page (until I got too invested in it and the profile page messed up my code and it was safer to just delete it all than to test the interaction between my code and what the site allowed). I still have folders on my computer about how to write in HTML, CSS, and even evolved over the years to coding scripts and .bat files to really automate things on my computer. And it all started with wanting to make my posts look better on one single small internet forum.

I remember one of the first threads I posted on this site when I was finally confident enough to make a thread was an Ask Me Anything post. It didn't get much traction but what it DID was cause the mods to post almost-immediately after that "New rule: No AMA posts". Now it turns out mine was merely the straw that broke the camel's back but I still consider it a time when one of my posts was so impactful it changed the rules. But obviously this wasn't something that I can actually take credit for because it wasn't directly my doing. However...

A post that WAS my doing that caused a site-wide ban on similar kinds of posts was actually my biggest creation (and biggest headache to everyone involved) ever on this site, in my opinion. The "Official" Vizzed Bank. All started when I was browsing the Vizzed Market section of the forum and really wanted to figure out something that had never been done before that the people on the site would want. Had the idea one day when I was bored, wrote up a Notepad about the rules and issues and spent literally HOURS if not days just trying to figure out how it'd all work. And it did at the time, and it was HUGE. You know you have something big when people start to copy you lol. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Problem was, it only worked because I had daily access to the internet. I was living in a trailor at the time that was shifting to new management. Well one of the first things the new managers did was remove the free hotspot I was using to log into Vizzed and be so active. And because... bank... having hundreds of thousands of Viz in your possession and suddenly ghosting uh... doesn't make you look good. Dozens of PMs sent to staff and me finally able to log into a library computer to give everyone their money back, a rule was implemented "No banks". I'm proud of the bank's creation, I'm not proud of its downfall. My biggest success and my biggest failure on this site.

My best memory though? A much more simple one. So to preface: Vizzed had a chatroom on the site (Kinda like the blue bar that's at the bottom of the screen as I type this post) but the one I'm referring to would open a separate page that you'd then connect to the chatroom while Vizzed was actually open in the first tab. I believe you had to log in a second time to actually get IN to the room. But it was a chatroom all the most active people used. But anyway. I was on that chatroom often, late into every night before logging off and going to bed. One night, two, I think they were both Admins on the site at the time, ended up having this HUGE argument in the chatroom. Jigsaw and Geeogree. Both respected members in my opinion. But while people had bits and pieces of what they had caught, turns out I fell asleep while logged into the chatroom. When I woke up, I'd learned about the fight happening and oh look, I had literally the entire 7 hours of chat logged, including the argument from the first message to the last. All saved and PM'd to either Staff or Davideo, I don't remember which. But David was trying to solve the mystery, and needed someone who knew. And I knew. I felt like I could actually help, which is always my fondest feeling in any situation. I actually eventually got a job working Customer Relations at a particular company and to this day it was the most fulfilling job I'd ever had. Customers called me angry, I made them hang up happy. Highly recommend this type of work to anyone looking for a good job, emotionally and spiritually.

I tried helping the site out more by applying to be Staff and was tasked with playing games in the RGR and writing reviews. Which was cool at the time for like a week or two but turns out I realized I wouldn't have been able to meet the demand that was befitting of my title so I asked to step down. Between that and my past contributions, that's why I've had an Elite role since then.

But walk down memory lane aside, nowadays? I'm just working at the same call center I've been at for the last almost 8 years. Covid didn't affect my standing, it just made me work from home which, hey, saves on gas. And occasionally I'd still posted here from time to time, though my last real wave of posts was back in 2016. And with my life being sorta hectic right now due to home issues, I can't promise I'll post as often as I used to in my hayday, not even close. But hopefully you'll see my threads or posts around the site more often as time passes. I tend to speak my mind, so I don't care if I'm liked. But if you'll speak yours, you'll have my respect instantly.

Thank you for reading, user. I hope you're enjoying Vizzed as much as I did, and still do.

Heyo welcome back to the site! I don't believe we've ever really interacted but I've seen your name around for years and I love hearing about stuff that's happened in the past like I don't believe I've ever heard about the bank before so I really enjoyed reading all that. I hope to keep seeing you around!

welcome back?

Not many people remember that huge fight Jigsaw and I had. I honestly don't remember much about it. I wonder if there are still threads on here about it somewhere. Probably hidden now.

I still lurk around here a lot. I don't post very often though. Too busy with real life to really hang around here anymore. I miss the good old days where we would post for hours.

Glad things are going well for you and glad to see you stop by. I always enjoy when people return even if it is just to say hi for a bit and then move on.

SonicOlmstead : Yeah I'll be honest, I remember a good handful of people from here from years past but not everyone. If you wanna read about the bank... https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=39332. That was back in 2012 lol

geeogree : I mean, I don't remember what it was ABOUT, just that it happened lol. Glad you stuck around here, though. I'll try to be more active, but there's a lot going on often in my life be it work, the gf, or just friends or personal issues lol. But I never intended to just jump ship.

I remember you and it is always the sporadic come back here and there. My memory is terrible but I do remember the Vizzed Bank idea. The chat might have been 123flashchat?

Besides those two things I honestly don't remember anything else you brought up.

Anyways hopefully you are able to come back more often despite the issues but remember don't force yourself to come on here unless you want to or able to.

Oh my, this reminds me that I'm two days late on my 11 years. I remember all the stuff you talked about. I had a similar experience. I just wanted to play Kingdom Hearts, so I just stumbled in here, then I realized I liked the forum more. Afterwards, I concluded that the chat was better.
I remember firmly siding with Geeo in that argument, just as most of the site had done. I was too young at the time most likely to fully process all of it, but Geeo seemed much nicer to me than Jigsaw, and he had my support.

I also learned HTML and CSS from that same site specifically to make layouts on this site, go figure. It's really cool that your still here. I think you're one of the...two? People from the 2010 squad that stuck around, aside from myself of course. It's sad to see so much inactivity these days, but Vizzed provided memories for all of us, and those first two years were irreplaceable.

P.S I remember what the fight between Geeo and Jigsaw was about somehow, but I don't really think it'd be right to mention here.

Zeldisaster : to say I stuck around is generous. I've been extremely inactive for the last 3-4 years. Maybe 500 posts since 2019. I used to post 500 times a month without really trying and now it takes years to post that many times

pennylessz : You could remind me in a private message. I'd rather it didn't come out here again. That was a LONG time ago and it doesn't need to be brought up publicly again.

Well, if it's not an old jag popping up again around this place!

It was fun going through your post. You were active at a time I was still loafing around, so it's an interesting read. Things back then were so different, and in a sense I regret not giving this place the chance sooner.

I still enjoy this place, though just like you I'm at a very hectic moment in my life and I can't dedicate as much time to it as I'd like to. I do plan on boosting my activity once everything settles down (because in my case it will, and quite soon) and relive old times, so I hope you can also do the same whenever you can visit us.
