Does anyone else here meal prep for their job or for any other reason?

Myself I work like 20 minutes out of the town I live in and since I have only a 30 minute lunch I can't just go anywhere to eat and I am forced to cook.

Something I did this week to meal prep is I bought a 4 pack of chicken breasts ~$10, 2 pound bag of brown rice ~$2, 2 cans of kernel corn ~$1 or $2 can't remember, and a bag of red kidney beans ~$1. Costed about $15 dollars in total. I cut the chicken breasts into 4ths so they are now like chicken strips so now I have 16 strips. The other stuff I cooked how they would be done normally.

Assuming I eat only 2 a meal I think I can make this combination last for 8 meals which equals out to about $1.88 a meal which is pretty good in my opinion.

I honestly don't know if this is the most nutritious thing to eat but it is stuff I like.

Anyone got other types of food they like to make for fun or for meal prepping?

No i do not meal prep solely for the reason that i'm a picky eater with a very low income, so usually frozen food is more cost efficent and more to my lackluster taste.

As for your actual meal it's pretty decent in terms of nutrition i'd say.. I'm no expert obviously though.

If you can make meals in bulk and reduce the cost its usually a good idea.. sadly i'm in a house with 5 other people in it.. so anything that ever gets made like that is bnsically one meal.. lol

I always meal prep. When I buy groceries I'll find one particular thing that I'm craving or that I like and I build around that. So if I crave some chicken I'll add stuff like rice and ingredients for curry. I do this for like 3-4 meals so I have dinner for half a week.

It's a lot more efficient than mindlessly buying things you see in the store, only to find out that they just don't go well together, or that you're missing one particular thing and either have to go back or have an incomplete meal.

I currently split my time between my home and my dorm room. I'll join my dad to buy groceries on Saturdays since I'm home during the weekends, and I'll plan my meals for Monday-Thursday when I'm at my dorm. I can cook so I make the meals on Sunday so they stay fresh longer. (And I've been told I'm a good cook too, although certain friends say I'm chaotic in the kitchen. Which is true but that definitely doesn't reflect upon the quality of my food).

As for the prices, my family has always prioritized quality food over pricing. My parents would always rather spend a little more on food to make sure we're eating good and healthy meals. And I honestly agree with this mindset. A lot of those quick meals are just not good for you. Same with fast food obviously.

Depends on the meal, recently something bit me culinary wise I found myself making Pasta I don't normally make and experimenting with brie, yes Brie. Basically what I do is a personal fondue, what do I use as stuff for dipping? Skillet Gnocchi, when I realized that hey I can make Gnocchi in a skillet I can make it on my own.

What I want to try in the future is taking some raw mozzarella and some Pillsbury crescents and making cheese stuffed croissants, it may not be healthy but I'm trying to take cooking skills to the test. Besides this should be a simple recipe if I can find one (if I can't succeed at it I can always take cheese strings or something like that for the thing because this is all I can do before I can go and get corn dogs again from a place close to work (ironically the place is across the street from another school in the division I work at)

Being the greatest person to ever lived since The Man himself, I always meal prep. Steak? Got it. Cinnamon apple pork tenderloin? Bet your butt I’ll make it and eat it later. Salmon, bass, tuna, halibut? Pffft easy peasy.

Point is with my work and gym time I have time to make food and basically stock up for that week, even if it means eating the same thing few days in a row which isn’t that bad when counting your macros. Be like me, be bec. Bec is great

Well I'm definitely going to attempt mozzarella stuffed croissants this weekend and if it's successful then I'm going to do another version of it and make something similar to what Pizza Hut used to have on their menu, plus I think I may have to make my own attempt at a P'Zone in the future considering that I think they took it off Canadian Menus again even though I had one last sunday afternoon.

Which I could find a way to make veggies more appetizing to me, or science would find a way to make vegetables taste like junk food (I mean if the Simpsons could pull it off in their comics)

A couple days ago I made ramen but I didn't want to make any simple ramen. The base was those standard instant noodles but I made my own special broth which took around two hours plus I also had to make chicken and eggs but I used pre cooked ones so I just had to bake and fry them.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out too. most people keep the water that you boil the noodles in but you're supposed to drain that water and put in new water to get rid of the fat and sodium and make the noodles much healthier. Plus a broth made with chicken broth, soy sauce, onions, mushrooms, and leeks is amazing.

When I make real chicken, I usually have to let them soak for a few hours before I can use them.

Recently I did attempt a recipe involving Fat Free Eggs and the Old El Paso taco boats, as well as hollandaise, oh and the Olivieri Gnocchi the one with Cheddar and Bacon on the inside....there was just one problem....Hollandaise tastes like the stuff you would taste in Scalloped potatoes

Next time I use Manitoba Sidekick sauce

I do however have a new idea, involving skewers, different types of the gnocchi and Babybels (if my parents want to add tiny vegetables to theirs they can do that, I want to have chicken involved on mine) mostly because the one with the tomato sauce and pizza mozzarella on the inside had been on sale
