Okay, this is my first review in several months, it's been a LONG time since the last time I wrote a review and...what can I say? The first review in a long time is a weird review, we could say. Yes, as I promised it's a review of a ''spicy'' game with a lot of fanservice and, even so, the game has English voice acting, but...for the first time, I'll review a game I haven't finished, and I don't think I'll do that, I don't plan to finish Omega Quintet, so, you'll have to forgive me, for the first and last time, I'll review a game even though I haven't played said game from beginning to end...that said, I have played Omega Quintet for many, many hours, more than 80 hours in total if I remember well, so, I think I'm qualified to talk about this game in detail...let's begin.

Story: The Story is one of the weakest aspects of Omega Quintet, the game has basically the same story that Dark Rose Valkyrie has, a virus that threatens humanity, the world is ''on the verge of destruction'' (their words, not mine) and only idols can save the world, it's a bizarre story (more or less) with a lot of funny moments, but unlike Dark Rose Valkyrie, the game doesn't have several surprising twists and it doesn't take itself seriously, Dark Rose Valkyrie is a serious game more than anything else, and the twists it has can be unexpected, but Omega Quintet, even though it has more or less the same story, is less effective partially because it's a less serious game than Dark Rose Valkyrie and partially because, at best, it only has a twist that could be unexpected, but not more than that. Overall it's a story that at best only serves its purpose and the characters of said story aren't the best of course, the cast of Omega Quintet is very generic and the characters aren't memorable, I've said it before and I'll say it again, yes, in many video games, not just Japanese video games, video games in general, we have what everyone would consider ''archetypes'' when it comes to characters, but if you try to go beyond just a basic ''archetype'' you can have memorable characters that are more than that, but that doesn't apply to Omega Quintet, it's one of the weakest casts in games published by IFI...even the main character (Takt) is unlikeable...

Graphics: The graphics in Omega Quintet are kind of bad, if we talk about PS4 Games with 3D graphics and not 2D games, and if we also consider only games also available in physical format, this is one of the worst PS4 games...there really is no way around this, Omega Quintet looks like a game that could run on the Gamecube or Xbox, and at best, it's a 6 in this category. Sure, the game runs at 60 frames per second constantly and it never suffers from slowdown, even on a regular PS4, but when everything looks like a Gamecube or Xbox game in HD, you really wonder how much power of the PS4 is being used. At least the 2D art looks really nice as always, and there are limited animations during the events, which is nice, but for the rest of the graphics, the game looks kind of bad, even for its time. Omega Quintet also has a mechanic where the clothes that the characters are wearing gets damaged during the game, and if the characters receive enough damage, they are left only in underwear and the outfit is completely destroyed or torn, that said, when it comes to said underwear, the fabric doesn't look very detailed, and it's obvious that the underwear looks better in Dark Rose Valkyrie, Gal*Gun 2, and Blue Reflection, for example.

Sound: The strongest asset in the game is the sound, the game has some satisfying sound effects (when you get Overkill for example) and the soundtrack is fantastic at times, one of the best soundtracks in a game developed by Compile Heart. Concentrate our attention, Kanade of Departure, Peaceful Mind ~Lover~...at least one song is one of my favorite video game songs of all time, it's an amazing soundtrack. The game has English voice acting, and it's obvious that the people who voiced these characters had a lot of fun, in the funny cutscenes, you can hear that Erika Harlacher, Erica Mendez and Stephanie Sheh, for example, had fun with the English dub of Omega Quintet, and for the most part, the English voice acting is great, it's a partial dub of course, but what the game has of English voice acting is great acting, and sometimes, even though the dub sounds ridiculous or campy, considering that we are talking about Omega Quintet here, that kind of voice acting...actually complements the game...a little.

Addictive: One of the least fun turn-based RPGs for PS4. Even when Omega Quintet was a new game in 2014 and 2015, it wasn't well received, and that's because there's a lot to criticize about this game including the combat and mechanics. While it's true that the battle system in Omega Quintet is kind of unique, with special skills that are used if you use certain skills in a specific order, dealing more or less damage depending on your position on the battlefield, using ''Harmonics'' in order to execute even more attacks and whatnot, etc, it's still a game that doesn't feel as fun as other turn-based RPGs, I think that Compile Heart was trying to develop a good game, but the fact that those speacial skills don't always work or aren't always available for some reason, the fact that the order of specific skills isn't something you can memorize and you always have to check which skills to use, the fact that there is a lot of dialogue in the game even if it's unnecessary...Somehow, I can understand the fact that some people genuinely like Omega Quintent, but at the same time, there are other people who consider it one of the worst games developed by Compile Heart. There is potential, and the fact that you can create your own music videos is a nice touch (and it's a feature I never used), but the battle system is actually very complex and even though it's a complex game, it doesn't feel very fun to play even compared to other turn-based RPGs. That's not all, I can say for sure that you can get stuck playing Omega Quintet, You use certain skills (Field Actions) when you explore the maps (dungeons), but said skills can level up, and in order to level up those skills, you have to clear specific ''optional'' quests, but the game doesn't tell you which quests increase the level of Field Actions, and later in the game, there is a specific obstacle that can't be removed if you didn't increase Kanadeko's level of Field Action...I tried to beat this game...twice, but the fact that you can get stuck in this game unlike many other turn-based RPGs I've played means that I can't give this game a high number, the gameplay, bad graphics (more or less) and story that leaves something to be desired are one thing, but getting stuck even when you definitely try to beat a game is another thing...as I said, there is a lot to critize about Omega Quintet.

Depth: The game should have different endings and it's many hours long, like other turn-based RPGs, the combat is complex and it has a lot of depth, so, if you are a huge fan of turn-based RPGs, Omega Quintet should be...an interesting choice.

Difficulty: In higher difficulties, bosses can manipulate the order of turns, which means that a boss can attack even before their designated turn, I've never played Omega Quintet on ''Normal'' for example, I've always played the game on ''Easy'' but considering the complex gameplay and whatnot, I can only assume that the game is even more difficult in higher difficulties.

A 6.5 is the highest rating I'm willing to give this game, there are good things about Omega Quintet, and even as someone who doesn't want to beat the game anymore, I can say for sure that the game has potential and good aspects, but at the end of the day, I think I only recommend Omega Quintet if you are a die-hard Compile Heart fan or something like that, but even if you are a huge fan of turn-based RPGs...there are better games to play. I promise that this will be my only review of a game I haven't played from beginning to end. You know what they say, there is a first time for everything, and I wanted to review something, so I quickly decided to review Omega Quintet even though I never finished the game. Yes, there are more reviews to come, I'll keep reviewing games with some level of fanservice, including games with some focus on suggestive content. See you next time...
