And by it all ends here I mean the Reader Rabbit Grade based games it only goes up to 2nd grade because after that the kids move on to the Cluefinders games (one of them I will review tomorrow) of course this may have been the last game made before The Learning Company teamed up with ADAPT (but I'll get to that when I get to that) Anyway I didn't insert myself into the "I own this game" category because I don't really own a physical copy, I had to burn this from a file I got from the internet archives (the site really is amazing btw, I use it at work if I can't get a table of contents from worldcat or if I can't find a cover image, it is especially useful if the library has lost this copy of the book)
Gameplay and Story: I'm going to assume this is not from the era from when the rabbit was piloting this strange flying ship. The story is this: Sam Lion gets a message from Reader Rabbit to meet him at this mysterious castle that looks kind of creepy which makes Sam think that Reader is in danger, that's right this time Sam Lion is in the frontlines, we have to collect widgets and explore the castle from top to bottom....literally
Graphics: Well the animation is noticeably different in this one, they must have hired a new team in the late 90s when the learning company finally found their footing.
Soundtrack: Well this doesn't have what the other games do, no separate sound track, I mean there are two songs you can listen to once you've completed each column of the castle, but that's about it.
Addictive: Well I played it until I finished it, most of these make me not want to stop playing
Depth: It seems that with this game that they are going a different route that looks similar to Super Solvers. The games that we get are kind of random, like no matter where we got a new activity pops up (we don't pick where each activity shows up)
Difficulty: well the game is aimed at 2nd graders (like ages 6-8) but it took me awhile to finish I don't know if it had to do with a glitch in the game, because even though our rank stays the same it feels like that no matter what we have to start over. It took me less than 90 minutes to finish this game in one sitting
Overall: I don't know why but I didn't care much for this entry, I don't know if this has to do with the glitch or that it took me forever but for some reason this didn't appeal to me as much, but that doesn't mean I didn't like the game, I actually enjoyed playing this under a different format, thought I don't think they used it for the other games because I haven't played them yet, I have Personalized Math 6-9 which I will play this summer, so I won't review it until AFTER I've played it, hopefully I'll have finished it before the July TdV is finished
So I'll give this an 8.5
