Every place has a different meaning as to what a staff member truly is, the different ranks they have and also their functions and requirements. Such information can sometimes push us away from applying, and I created this thread to clear any user’s doubts about becoming site staff in this place.
First of all, the basics: this is merely a volunteer work. You won’t get rewarded with cash or any other prize, just
Viz (to spend on games, for example) and Contribution Points, besides of course earning a name for yourself and opening the chances of promotion to the mod ranks. Not much of a reward, you might think, but there’s much more to it than that.
Getting to work as site staff can strengthen your skills (the writer positions are the best example) as well as serve as boost for your real life. At any level, a successful work rewarded with positive feedback motivates you to continue working and aim higher, which in turn can allow you to take other challenges, either in the form of another staff role or in real life. The regular work you do because you enjoy doing it can let you establish a routine for your real life (home)work.
Many of our former admins, as well as current, started out as site staff. The workload isn’t always lower, and currently I’d even say it’s higher for site staff than for locals or even globals. It’s the best starting step to climb the ranks and keep showing yourself your own unknown faces. You might discover you can be an avid poster if you become mod, or you can discover you’re good at doing certain things and develop a new hobby.
You never know how becoming staff can change you. It can even be the confirmation you want to dedicate yourself to something. That’s why I encourage you to try and become a site staff. You can resign whenever you feel you can’t keep up with it anymore, so why don’t you pay a visit to the
Staff Apps thread now?
