I want Spider-Man to die. It's the best thing that could ever happen to Marvel.

Let me explain.

Today it was confirmed that Alfred Molina was going to appear in Tom Holland's Spider-Man 3 as Doc Ock, reprising his role from Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man 2.

Earlier this year it was confirmed that Jamie Foxx was going to appear in Spider-Man 3 as Electro, reprising his role from Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man 2.

This got a lot of people talking about two main points.

1: It's gotta be the multiverse, different universes with different earths and different versions of Spider-Man that all the other series were a part of.

2: If they bring back the villains from the old series', then they should also bring back both Tobey and Andrew to play their versions of Spider-Man.

That would be some great fanfare right?

Well I don't really think that. I think Tobey and Andrew should not appear in Holland's Spider-Man 3..... because they are dead.

I think that the MCU should write the story so that both Tobey and Andrew's versions of Spider-Man died in their universes. We have already seen a Spider-Man die in Spider-Verse and it would offer so much in terms of plot, story development, and character development.

It would also be a little way to explain why Tobey and Andrew Spider-Man series' were cancelled in-universe and the cancellation of both would actually become canon within the MCU.

That's the route that I would personally want to see, it would be a huge boost to Canonicity, plot, and world-building, as opposed to just seeing 3 different Spider-men interacting with each other for a short time.

I'm definitely interested in what they do with this latest movie.

However, I'd be okay with Spiderman being done in movies for a while as a standalone character. Put him in a group or let him have cameos like other Marvel characters.

What other stories are left to tell for Spiderman? Are we going to get another origin story in 5 years when they recast the role? That's going to get old.

That would be interesting, and I could honestly see that happening given that Sony is in control of Spiderman and given how them and Disney have been at odds because of money. Aaaaaaaaaaaalways about money...

geeogree : To be fair, it's like that BECAUSE of all the resets. They keep forcing them to do the same stories because they started from scratch so many times.

If they were able to actually get passed a 3rd movie and move forward with his life, I'm sure there's a bunch of new story ideas that would work down the line, especially with the sheer number of villains that Spiderman has. Not to mention him being in all the MCU movies helped a lot with content without having to use up any Spiderman villains/plotlnes.

One thing I was very disappointed by was what they did with the Andrew Garfield storyline when it came to story. They were actually doing something in regards to his parents and why they died. That was super original and I thought it would have been really cool but we ended up with nothing.
