So, I know that I'm not the most active user on this site, but can I use this moment to show some love and appreciation for this site? I mean, As I said in the title, this is a small community, and as such, this isn't a very active forum, that said, in my opinion, this being a small forum and community definitely has its pros and cons.

I don't want to reference other forums once again, and maybe, just maybe, I shouldn't be doing that, but browsing ResetEra, something I do every day to be honest, at least in the last weeks, made me realize how much I really like Vizzed, in a way, this is a better forum, I wouldn't want to be a user on ResetEra or NeoGAF, those are much bigger forums and communities and that's a fact, but they are less welcoming than Vizzed, based on what I've personally seen, here on Vizzed we can have threads asking ''Liberal or conservative?'' and, as far as I know, it's not a problem, but on ResetEra a thread of ''Should Republicans or people with conservative values be allowed on resetera?'' was quickly locked. I consider myself a centrist, but even so, it fascinates me that such a thread was locked so fast. Also, ResetEra has no qualms on using profanity, just like NeoGAF, and that's something that might offend some people, with all those people on ResetEra throwing F-bombs (for example) left and right.

At worst, that's something negative about this site, the fact that it's (was?) very strict regarding the use of profanity or swearing, but I personally don't have a problem with that, also, this community insists on *not* having certain games on the Video Game Room (the Gal*Gun sequels, most Senran Kagura games, Omega Labyrinth Life...you know, some of those games), which bothers me, but other than that, I don't think that this site is much stricter or worse than ResetEra regarding ''what's acceptable'' or not...suggestive content basically, that kind of stuff.

Here on Vizzed, I can openly say that I'm asexual and I never have a problem with fan service, I don't mind it for the most part, and because of that, I can easily see that there is more to games such as Drive Girls, Nights of Azure, Mary Skelter 2, Dark Rose Valkyrie...even Nekopara Vol.1 and Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus (which I've reviewed) have more going for them than just jiggle physics, cleavage, partial nudity and ''Master, look at our striped panties.'' (not real dialogue in Nekopara Vol.1 of course) If I were a member of ResetEra, I probably would have been banned already, after all, I've openly admitted that I'm a fan of these games and yes, I have been a promoter of these games and I would defend them to death. ResetEra on the other hand, has a problem with fan service or sexualization of female characters, especially if those characters are underage...did you know that ResetEra even has a list of banned games? It's a list of games that can't be discussed on the site, don't create threads of those games because...no, don't do it, and that's it. I've been listening to ''Sailing of a Daydream'' from Megadimension Neptunia VII as I'm writing this, and it's fitting, considering my love for this site and community, and also that, like the games I previously mentioned, I can say for sure that Megadimension Neptunia VII has a lot going for it, I've played that game from beginning to end and I recommend it.

I've positioned myself as the person who reviews perverted anime style games on Vizzed, certainly some games are more suggestive than others, but it's been fun, and I love that people don't have a problem with me reviewing all those games, in fact, people like my reviews, it feels great to review a game that you know for sure that it's on a list of banned games for some reason (Mary Skelter 2 is one of the banned games on ResetEra, but the original game is not on the list). And it's not just games of course, here on Vizzed, a member can openly say that he considers himself a member of the furry community (Boured if I remember well), and it's not a problem, nobody insults said user...it's just another statement and nobody has a problem with that.

Sure, here on Vizzed, most threads don't get a lot of replies, this is a small community, and in my experience at least, if you are lucky and make a thread that isn't a review you will probably get 5 replies at most, I repeat, if you are lucky, but other than that and 2 things I already mentioned, I really like this site and community, it's very welcoming and it's not an echo chamber unlike ResetEra, where if you dare to defend certain anime style games or write positive things about them, your account can be banned (''We're locking the thread as we review it. Any users that defend the depiction of the sexulization of minors will be moderated accordingly.''). So, once again, thank you vizzed for being a great and welcoming community, this site and community are much smaller than ResetEra and NeoGAF, but even though many threads don't get a lot of replies (if they get a reply at all), this is still a great site to use and all. I could create a thread about Omega Labyrinth Z and the thread wasn't quickly locked, in fact, there was a little of discussion for a while, which was nice.

I know that it's been a while since the last time I wrote a review, so, I'll say this to finish: I definitely have potential reviews planned, and there is the possibility that I'll write a review this month, my next review will be of Kill la Kill - IF, or Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 (Steam version), or Our World is Ended for Nintendo Switch, those games are considered for my next review...Anyway, that's all.

lolid23 : I have spent most of my time on the site as a not very active member my self and while I can't say I know much about other forums as I've not really used any I've almost always loved most of the community on the site. Were less strict on profanity because a while back a filter was added so you can choose to not see swears if that's something that bothers you, that being said it should never be like said every other word or anything crazy. When it comes to getting replies I think it really depends on two things one when you post it if it's after a really busy month like tdv your not likely to get replies but this thread I think normally would when it's something like this and it being in tdv is a huge boost but I think normally the site is pretty active when it comes to threads like this I'm not sure what it is but I feel like something like this draws the community to respond more. As a former Local who had the review forum I think your reviews are great and I look forward to any reviews you post in the future.

SonicOlmstead : Thanks, it's always a lot of fun to review anime styles games no one talks about, I enjoy being a promoter of those games. I can't wait to review the games I mentioned in the original post (it's my first time using this term, how fun).

I second that this place being a small community has its good things. I could never be active on the Gamefaqs boards because it's so chaotic, too many forums, too many threads, the summon/mention system is hard to keep track of... Here I can keep track of everything I want to follow without major problems, even on the site's more active days back in 2014 for example.

The rules on here are also well balanced. We don't directly ban certain behaviors unless they're obviously disrespectful towards other people, so you can be of any opinion you want and almost post about everything you want. True is that the activity level probably won't bring in any replies, but I don't think many of us are actually looking for tons of replies most of the time.

We two have clashed a few times about those fanservice games, and I'll say one thing about it: videogame industry is not one to be trusted. The same game getting the 16+ rating and the suggestive themes tag in one side of the Atlantic but have 7+ rating and no such tag on the other side. This is why, from an objective point of view, without a second or third opinion about the game in question it's very hard to add it. Maybe it also has to do with some societies allowing something others don't, like the forums you mentioned.

I like that you hold Vizzed in such a special place, just like a few of us do. Thanks for staying around no matter what, the temptation to fly away after some time is always present and it's not easy to look away from it.

EX Palen : Thanks for the reply. I know that some games are in a difficult spot and can't be added easily, but hey, a few banned games on ResetEra, NeoGAF and even twitch are on the VGR, I assume that you personally added Mary Skelter 2 even though it has that suggestive mini game (the ability to do a purge), sure, it's completely optional, but still, that mini game, not to mention certain outfits for a few classes and a few CG images and...yeah, the game has a lot of fan service and it's very violent and dark as well.

The fact that this site allows the discussion and reviews of certain games is more than enough for me, who knows, I might write a review of Criminal Girls: Invite Only someday...yes, that Criminal Girls. the Steam version is on the VGR, and my PC should be able to run the game. This site allowed me to write a review of Mary Skelter 2, a banned game on ResetEra for some reason...that's enough to love this site for me.

I can say with certainty, based on my time on several web forums, that there are clear reasons why this community feels more welcoming than the places you mentioned.

There isn't many of us, that's why. When a fight breaks out, everyone knows about it, the mods find out really quickly as well, and can shut it down effectively. Anyone involved could have a permanently tarnshished reputation too. Conversely, because there's so few people, we can't really afford to have a staff team that abuses its power. If we did, the remainder of the board users could be driven off, so the staff's ideology has drifted towards leniency. On other sites I've visited, you can get in a bar room brawl with any individual, and never encounter them again. If you meet a mod, it's completely up to their discretion whether they hate your post or you enough, to silence you. Here, a discussion often occurs, and we get varying opinions. That's rare, power abuse occurs often when those with it aren't held accountable.

As for the reviews... Yeah, I have no problem with them. I agree that the site should be more open with that stuff, but "family friendly" is just the way this place was designed. I think it's a crux, kids will find awful stuff whether we like it or not, so it feels like a waste of energy to filter out the games you mentioned, but like I said, it's the foundation.

I have a lot of the same sentiments. I do greatly appreciate your post.

Firstly, regarding ResetEra... yeah. That place is EXTREMELY intolerant. Even the folks they try to pander to say that they just feel uncomfortable there. It's actually quite ridiculous and Reera is just becoming a cult at this point. I browse it as well when I'm REALLY bored and always come out with a big headache.

On the topic of profanity specifically, we don't mind it anymore. The censor exists for a reason - if you don't want to see profanity then turn it on. If you're fine with it then keep it off. The mod team in general is MUCH more relaxed about all of the rules than pre-2018. I'm not really sure what goes on in terms of adding explicit/perverted/etc. games to the RGR or VGR since I was never really concerned with it, but you're still free to review the games without screenshots with suggestive content. Our one only solid rule that we still double down on compared to before is no suggestive content or porn.

I agree with you and everyone else here that the reason this community is so welcoming is because we're small though - of course I'm always glad to see new faces pop up, but the reason I feel so attached to this place is that I can always recognize names and attitudes without having to be like "wait, who is this again?" and react or respond accordingly. We're all one big family.

The reason I stepped down from administrator (and from staff entirely soon) goes a little bit beyond just being burned out - I do have a lot of behind-the-scenes issues that simply will never be fixed. Despite that, I'll always remain on the board as an active member because the community is irreplaceable in my heart. I don't need to be the head of staff to appreciate all of you guys, from the current mods to the newbies.

I've been here almost 11 years now, and despite the userbase always majorly changing, I still appreciate the site just as much as I did when I was 10. I'll be here until the site shuts down.

Minuano : I guess we can all agree that it's part of the reason why this place feels so welcoming, yes. The fact that this is a small community is part of what makes it great and welcoming. Many more users (and moderators who abuse their power in the case of ResetEra and NeoGAF) would definitely ruin that aspect. I haven't been the most active user throughout these years but I can't deny that it's always nice to interact with other users.

I also appreciate the feedback I have received for my reviews of course, I can't wait to write more reviews.

EWWW GO AWAY.... CAN'T YOU SEE WE'RE CLOSED GEEE.....

But seriously back when the site was popular a lot of the general populace were young teenagers, For me personally as a brit it was kinda hard not to swear all the time but it's always worth nothing that you don't need to swear to have a good time..

As for what games you review it's fine. I usually play a lot of those types of games casually just because it's something different... I'm also asexual just for the record. To me personally i'd rather have people give their honest opinions about games.. although i too also wish that reviews on this site got a bit more love... Even back in the busiest days they barely got looked at honestly.

Also honestly for my last point, you don't have to apologize for being inactive. I'd much rather everyone post when they feel like it, it makes the site a lot more fun that way. I feel like users sometimes worry too much about appearing to be active regularly.

sonicmcmuffin : It's always better to post something when you feel like it, right? That's exactly why I wrote the original post, I wanted to say nice things about Vizzed and the community (not to mention throw dirt at ResetEra), so, I made this post because I ''felt the need'' to do it. I guess I have been browsing ResetEra too much, way more than I should, heh heh heh.

I have said multiple times that this site is the only forum I consistently come back to, it was something that was a great part of my childhood and me getting into emulation and later retro gaming in general. If it wasn't for Vizzed, I wouldn't have a giant CRT TV in my room with 5-10+ consoles.

I am glad to hear that you have had such a good experience with this site! I have as well. I registered here when I was 12 and in 7th grade, one of the worst years of my life. In that dark time I was on here constantly. It was the accepting community that I wanted because things were going so bad at school (which was mostly my fault actually).

I have made great friends here and had some neat experiences bonding with others. For example, the Tour de Vizzed which is going on right now was a huge opportunity for me to get involved here and meet a lot of people. I even got to have an intense competition with others and win one of those competitions in 2017! That definitely increased my appreciation for the site.

Boured : I also only use this board consistently. I tried using other boards sometimes but it didn't work for me.
