Hi guys I want to make this thread as a warning if you have not watched the news already A virus has spread from animal to human to human. it was from Wuhan in China when some Chinese people were selling exotic foods such as snakes, cats, dogs etc which is illigal. One of these animals was carrying the virus. someone ate it and thats how it happened. now many chinese folks have the virus within thier body while some out there fight for survival. Sadly the virus has spread to Japan, South Korea, Singapore, one from the US and a few in Edinburgh so I heard.
This virus is called Coronavirus for what we know in the past the plague killed millions of people around the world. Now this virus? if you go out please go with caution and 17 people have died or so I think more has died. 500 people have been suspected of having it they are now in the hospital the doctors anre trying to treat them I just hope they find a vaccine soon I dont want it to be too late before the govement actually goes into plan. I haven't heard about this epidemic yet. So I just want to say thanks for directing my attention towards it, I really appreciate the warning. I have a dear friend from Jakarta, Indonesia, which is pretty close to Singapore, so I particularly worried about her. Definitely gonna spread the word to her. Thanks again! |

Eniitan :
Tafarijah : To add a little bit of detail, they're saying this virus is very much like something that caused a lot of problems in China decades ago called Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, or SARS for short, and I believe I've been told it can be transmitted from human to human via breathing. In other words, it's an airborne pathogen. For anyone reading: if you go out and you're in an area that's potentially infected, use sanitizing wipes, wear a mask, and go to the doctor if you have a fever and a cough. I heard news about the spread in China, but everything else was new to me.
I have a weak immune system, so I'll have to start checking the news about this. Doesn't seem like it has reached Spain yet, but I'll be on the lookout just in case. I can't afford staying at home until a countermeasure is developed, so I'll have to take the risk. I'll keep notes of the symptoms just in case me or anyone close starts presenting them. Let's hope we can stop this before the outbreak becomes too massive, starting the year with such a terrible event would be a disastrous premonition. And I hope everyone in the Land of V can stay safe from harm. I have a weak immune system, so I'll have to start checking the news about this. It really sucks to hear things like this are spreading I'm just hoping that it doesn't get anywhere near me because while I don't go outside a lot my grandma looks in a doctor's office so I would likely become exposed to it if she was anywhere near it. I will be hoping for everyone to have a safe recovery and hope that no one in the Land of V falls sick due to this sickness. |

Eniitan : I read the news everyday and they have been talking about Coronavirus today they mentioned a man who arrived in canada 17 years ago on a passport given to him by his parents during the outbreak of sars in beijing and how very concerned he his about his family and friends back in china contacting this horrible disease especially now with the chinese new year about to start which one of their biggest celebrations in china they have no idea how long the disease will last or how many people could become infected down where I live so far there hasen,t been any cases yet but our hospitals are pretty busy now treating people who are suffering from the flu in fact they mentioned in the news that although it,s very rare for anyone to die from the flu there have been two who have died so far as for coronavirus I hope and pray that it will soon be under control and that it won,t spread any further than it already has thank you for informing us about this disease I plan to keep reading the news so I can keep myself up to date about it |

Man this virus does sound pretty scary huh. I got a notification today that there might be someone with symptoms in our country so I'll just hope it's a false alarm. And even if it's real just hope he won't ring my doorbell. Pros of being a hermit I guess. |

I mean this reply may come across as a bit cold but isn't the death rate for this new virus basically the same as flu.
Now i'm not saying that it isn't something we should be worried about as we should be naturally worried about any new strains of viruses and diseases that occur, but i feel the news especially in the UK will not shut up about it. I've even seen a new channel declare someone as a "super spreader" whilst giving out his full name. So now this person basically has to go around in life with people thinking he's some sort of contagion... whilst probably receiving delightful death threats and such. Just to clarify the latter point the dude is just human and caught the virus. Now he's likely to suffer a lot more than that. sonicmcmuffin : Yeah I've looked into it more and the death rate is really low. It's just a really fast spreading disease which scares people more than a virus' mortality rate.
People had a much better reason to freak out over Ebola. That one had a mortality rate of roughly 60% before vaccines were made. People had a much better reason to freak out over Ebola. That one had a mortality rate of roughly 60% before vaccines were made. |

Eniitan : sadly it sounds like the coronavirus is still quit active last I read in the news a plane chartered by the canadian government has left for japan to evacuate some canadians who are aboard a cruise ship off yokohama which has been quarantined since early this month with over 3,000 passengers and crew in confinement after a passenger was diagnosed with coronavirus also about 3 days ago they showed a picture and gave the names of an older couple from canada who caught coronavirus while on the ship personally to me they should not be giving names of anyone who has caught this deadly virus it,s bad enough that they have to deal with this let alone having the media publish their names I don,t know how anyone else feels about this but if it was me or someone in my family who had coronavirus i,m sure the last thing we would need is for our picture and names to be made public this to me is not a very respectful thing to do to the victims because it,s bad enough they have fallen victim to this deadly virus without everyone having to know who they are,the only good thing about it is that so far down where I live there isn,t too many people with this disease so far instead it,s the flu that is more serious I just hope and pray that it will end soon so that no one else ends up with this disease |

Eniitan : Honestly, i'm not all that worried about it. I think the biggest things you have to watch out for is air travel, and overseas travel. This kind of reminds me of the whole ebola ordeal we had a couple years ago. Thanks for being worried for everyone though |

FaithFighter : Yeah but I worry more for those who have health problems like me which the virus can effect more. I have a semi plan as of what will happen when I catch the virus myself in which all honestly to god I dont. I will take a lot of multi vitamins and vitamin c. if I am lucky to get the fever that would be my best intrest because the virus wont survive that at all which will give me a chance for my immune system to boost and fight back. if I have the other symtoms I will have to pray to make it through that. they dont have a cure they will depend on your immune system to fight. this is why the old are dying from that. it can affect the young too but the young who have health problems are more in danger. I will be going to the cinema tomorrow at a reasonable time to catch the film at like 13:50 people wont be around so I will be using a mask and hand sanatiser for that reason my gloves wont come off but I will sort of clean the seat I will sit on to make it feel safer for me. my mum is going to travel in april....that I wont like I will try to detereate her to wait a little longer to do that. I dont want her catching the virus without knowing. if she goes to nigeria...and has the virus she wont have the best healthcare there to survive but I can only pray she does.
BTW a little news which is supposed to be good...the virus is starting to drift away in china slowly. so in a way this has kind of calmed me down all thats left is to take away the little ones trying to build up again in other countires. so again guys please be safe dont catch it or you will spread it without knowing. and I went to the hosptial on tuesday something like that I am normally looking forward to doing and I wasnt I was in my wheelchair and I was kinda close to this lady...she coughed....I flinched and moved myself away so fast to where my mum was sitting. never been so scared. my mum got the point that chuckled a little. and it want a normal cough as well. so...after I went to see my favourite doc that I have been seeing for many years my mum decided to pop up the topic to do with the virus and he was very understanding so he said I can have 2 months away from the world. which made me happier. so I will start on with that after I go to chuch next week so that means it means that will make me happier! Guys I want to live have a happy life get married and have children things like this I have to fight through. so I am deteremited not to get this virus and I dont want to have it. Anyways have an awesome day y'all! The virus is spreading through Spain, and even people at the hospital I get my treatment at has seen some of its personnel infected. We have no words of any deaths yet, but we're north of 70 people infected across the country right now.
I'm honestly not scared, simply because I see no point on it. I know my immune system is put on standby, so catching the virus would be horrible for me, but I don't know what or who I'm fighting against, so I don't know what or who to protect me from. And protecting myself from everything and everyone is not an option. I also want a happy life and a brilliant future and all those things, but I've been secluded for too long and I'm not going back to that spot again. Even if it's reckless of me, I've decided to live life to its fullest: finding myself a job in the dubbing industry, spend time with my lover, minimizing the travels but still going to places... I've been too close to death in the past, so next time I'm that close to it I don't want to regret not having enjoyed my time on this planet. Let's hope things can settle down soon. I'll keep an eye on the news and hope I can still get my medication through because I'm screwed without it and even more at this timing. I'm honestly not scared, simply because I see no point on it. Yeah i saw a health minister over here saying it'd take months to create a vaccine which even then would be pretty impressive i suppose.
The virus for now isn't that deadly let's just hope it doesn't mutate and actually become a more viable threat to everyone. The virus for now isn't that deadly let's just hope it doesn't mutate and actually become a more viable threat to everyone. |

We're already at over three thousand confirmed cases, including people in the government. How we got from less than 80 to five times that amount in just 12 days greatly says how easily can this virus spread and infect people, hence why it's so feared everywhere in the globe.
Both me and my lover suspected having it because we did present some symptoms, but according to sources those symptoms are more accurate for a cold or flu rather than coronavirus. We haven't yet discarded being checked, but if the symptoms don't match we see no need for it right now. Plus, I got my medication just today and I'm already doing much better, so my worries are drifting away slightly. Caution measures are still in the making and who knows for how long will they last, so we haven't heard the last of it now. I'm still planning a trip to somewhere less than a month from now, so I hope I can do it safely and check myself when I'm back just in case (or before going, who knows what measures will be in place for then). Can we all just please calm down about this.
Think Rationally. Less than 1% of the world is infected, the morality rate isn't even high and yet we're all acting like it's the end of the world already. Yes as all viruses that develop we should of course be wary of them but all of the fear mongering that the news is doing is just shameful. A good example is in the UK we had the news report "Coronavirus deaths drastically double in the last 24 hours" Pretty scary right... Not really if you read more than the title. It went from 10 to 21 deaths. All of the people that died in those 24 hours already had underlying health issues and were over the age of 60. It might be a bit crude to say this but Covid19 was just what pushed their bodies past the edge so to speak. Of course we should be aware of the potential risks this virus could have if it mutates but lets just chill the hell out as well. All it does is prey on the weak minded and the easily swayed. Last i heard 36 people have now died in the uk from it.. the last two also being over 50 and having health issues before it. Also if my points don't make you feel any better just remember this simple thing. People have already recovered from this virus. In fact the majority have. Think Rationally. I'm with muffin on this one, we should take caution but not fall into paranoia. The news say a lot more than they want us to believe.
In Italy, there were more than 1,200 deaths. However, the average age is 81 years old. Does it sound that dangerous now? Do you think it's something to fear? The governments only want to stop the uncontrollable expansion of the virus, that's all. It's not a virus we have to eradicate no matter what, we only have to put it under control. For that reason they're saying we shouldn't get out and all that, not because we're facing certain death or any other apocalyptic end. I'm staying at home with my lover, but I may perfectly go out during these weeks of confinement. I will use my mask or anything that can cover my mouth and nose and follow the rest of safety measures, but I won't stop my way of life because there's no point on it. I hope we can have a safe April and, fingers crossed, be able to return everything to normal in May. We're not at an era where society can stand a total stop for a prolonged period of time.
