Anyone going to watch The New Mutants when it comes out? I've been really excited for it for years and one of my favorite TV actors is in it but it's been delayed over and over.

The original trailer camw out in 2017 and it was out for a few months before it disappeared for years. The movie was supposed to come out at the beginning of 2018 but it was delayed so it wouldn't compete with Deadpool 2. Then it was delayed again so it wouldn't compete with Dark Phoenix. Then it was almost cancelled when Disney bought Fox.

Now a new trailer finally came out this month and the movie will be released in April. Thoughts?

I heard about this, but my question is...How many other movies would I need to watch to get all the references? There's so much random X-Men stuff, I haven't been paying a ton of attention.

I'm really concerned that Marvel is removing the X-Men title in their rendition and explicitly calling them the Mutants. Which bothers me greatly.

Plus it's its own franchise like the Wolverine franchise.

It is a part of the franchise though right? Also, this means that I can watch New Mutants separately from the other movies?

My second paragraph wasn't geared at this movie specifically, I was talking about the universe as a whole. I think Marvel under Disney is going to move away from the title X-Men in their media, and will just call the MCU films Mutants.

I think it would be pretty stupid from them to do so. Basicly, I can't imagine it that Disney would willingly miss the oppurtunity to capitalize on such a well established and instantly recognizable brand-name. In my opinion, if an MCU movie would come out with "X-Men" in its title, only that alone would draw in a lot of audience. On the other hand, they would gain nothing with such a generic title as "Mutants", with that they would only risk alienating the hardcore fans.
So I can't see this happening at all.
