Jazz is one of the more alienating genres. The birthplace of the modern virtuoso, be it free, modal, or fused with another genre, there's no denying the smooth sound of its instrumentals and its ability to pervey emotion without words.

I'm a big fan of it. I've listened to Miles Davis', John Coltrane, and Charles Mingus discography many times, alongside subgenre artists like Frank Zappa's rock infusion, Moon Hooch's electronic fusion, all of the incredible Japanese pop music from the 80s with heavy jazz influence, the recent resurgence of jazz being used in hip hop music, and David Bowie's final record's use of jazz. I'm also a fan of newer artists like Kamasi Washington, The Comet is Coming, Badbadnotgood, Yussef Kamall, and Sons of Kemet.

How about you? Are there any other jazz fans on Vizzed?

I rather enjoy jazz but I also enjoy most genres of music too so you can take that however you want. XD I think I really like songs where they're sort of a mix of pop and jazz. I think that it really gives it some life to it.

I enjoy jazz mostly because my wife enjoys jazz. Otherwise I likely wouldn't have been exposed to much if any at all.

We go on dates to listen to jazz now and I usually enjoy it. We don't go too often since we still have younger kids but when we get the chance my wife will choose listening to Jazz (or other live music) over seeing a movie or a dinner date.

It's not the first genre I think of, but I will definitely listen to it if I wanna settle down for the night. I like to insaneintherain, a youtube channel that does a lot of jazz covers. They're quite good.

I live in a city that is extremely well known for the Jazz genre. In fact, whenever I walk around the French Quarter here in NOLA, and just listening to a lot of musicians playing on musical instruments on the streets while walking around is quite smoothing, plus on top of that, there is a ton of Jazz Clubs around the city as well.

So, in a way, I really like listening to Jazz

I actually took a course on jazz when I was in my final year of college. Until I began the course, I thought I knew what jazz really was.

I was dead wrong.

Over the next 4 months, I attended concerts, studied old jazz, new jazz, all jazz.

It was really cool to experience it all.

I'm not a big fan. I won't download any jazz songs, or look up any songs/videos but if jazz is already playing somewhere, most of the time, I end up liking it, it's just not a type of music that I can start listening to on my own because I'd rather be listening to rock or pop most of the time.

I took a Music Foundations class this school year and was blown away by jazz music. I haven't listened to much of it lately, but it is so cool!

Some students at my college formed a jazz band, and they've been performing some impressive jazz songs this school year for students to see. It was one of the most fun concerts I had been to recently!

In my humble opinion, jazz is most relaxing genre of music out there when done in the proper manner. And by proper manner I mean "smooth jazz". The way it sounds is purely magical. The nostalgic sweeping feel it gives is unrivaled amongst all music. By far the easiest sound on the ears possible.

Both amazing examples of smooth jazz at its finest.

MaliceMindedEvan : I agree! Any kind of jazz really makes me happy, but when it can also relax me, that's a huge win! It's so beautiful.

I used to despise it when I was younger, but now it's what I listen to to relax.
