Up until about 18 months ago, I never played a single Digimon game, but I loved the show ever since I was young. But I randomly came into contact with Digimon Story Cyber Slueth on sale for the PS4 so I gave it a try and it became one of my top 20 games of all time. I didn't play the sequel but a few months ago I found out that the complete edition with both games was being released on the Switch so I let go of the PS4 copy and picked up the Switch one because it was way cooler having both games and being able to play wherever I am.

Cyber Slueth was a lot of fun and reminded me a lot of the Persona games in many ways. One of the reasons that I liked it so much was because it was basically a dual game. You spend so much time in the huge digital world where you get your hands on hundreds of Digimon and you level them up and digivolve them. Bur you also spend hours in the real world doing regular stuff, going to stores, and solving all sorts of cases for a Detective agency.

In this world, there are people who are known as hackers and people beliebe that Digimon are basically the tools of these hackers and near the start of the game your character is branded as a hacker simply because you get a Digimon. Though, throughout the game there's a lot to uncover about what Digimon really are. Then the 2nd game in the complete edition, Hackers Memory, tells a story of a another hacker at around the same time that Cyber Sleuth takes place. Hackers Memory introduces even more Digimon.

GRAPHICS: 9/10

The graphics are something that I enjoy about the game. Earlier I mentioned that the game really felt and looked like the Persona games and for me that's good. As a result, I reallt like the way that the game looks. The designs for all the Digimon are pretty good and both their designs and animations while in battle are good.

I also really like the look of the overworld areas. When in the real world you can explore the city and some buildings and while in the digital world, there are a largw number of maps for you to run through and battle, and they all look pretty decent.

SOUND: 10/10.

Another one of my most favorite aspects of this game is the music. When you first start up the game, it plays a super energetic, upbeat, and futuristic song, one that I can listen to over and over. There are lots of cool songs that make up both soundtrack, even the the ones that play in regular places seem like they would fit as a battle theme. There's also a lot of good voice acting but it's all Japanese so you're left to the subtitles to make sense of heads or tales if you don't understand.

ADDICTIVENESS: 10/10

IMO, Digimon is just as good as Pokemon, if not better. It's just like Pokemon in the sense that you can obtain, train, and battle Digimon, more than 300 in total. Training is so much fun and there's so much to do with your Digimon, including a farm where you can store and train them, which kind of makes me think of Pokemon camps in the new ew Sword and Shield. You can buy all sorts of items to mske the farm even better.

That's one really cool feature of the game, and in the real world side of the game, there's so much to do and so many places to visit. Once you finish the game, there's still so much to do, you can keep trying to obtain all the Digimon in the game or max them out, and then you can move on to Hackers Memory, so all in all I'm pretty sure that you can spend a hundred hours or more in the entire complete edition.

DEPTH: 10/10

Depth is not a feature that is lacking in this game. First of all its 2 games not 1, so that instantly gives it a huge advantage. Then you have the sheer number of Digimon available to obtain. In Cyber Slueth there's around 250 different Digimon and then in Hackers Memory, there's nearly 350. That's basically the first 2 to 3 generations of Pokemon. 9nce you get past the sheer size and scope of the game, you realize that there's so much to do both in the real world and the digital one. You have all sorts of story material as well as the farm, hundreds of battles, mini games, and more. You'll never run out of things to do in either game.

DIFFICULTY: 3

The games aren't difficult at all, and if they are, they're just as difficult as any other standard RPG. When you play a game like Pokemon, you just keep grinding by battling Pokemon and trainers until you're stronger. It's the exact same concept here. If you get to a point where you're losing more often, you just need to go back to an easier area and start training your Digimon more. Then once you go back to the hard area, it will be much easier. It's all about grinding the games have to real difficulty.

OVERALL: 9.5/10.

Overall, Digimon Story Complete Edition is a great game, not even just for those who are fans of the Digimon franchise already. Anyone can pick up a copy of the game, start from the beginning, and thoroughly enjoy it. If you can get the game for cheaper than the $50 retail price, it would be a steal because just Cyber Slueth alone is worth the money and gets you a hundred hours easily and then Hackers Memory is just as good. Thus, my overall grade for the game will be a 9.5 out of 10.

I like digimon but I still think that I prefer the pokemon game in my opinion. I likes cyber sleuth and it is a really fun game qith a decent amount to do in it but it is really easy to become really busted really quickly if you use the right techniques.
