I hear they're all terrible but want to check out out. I hear there's a bunch for the PS4 and Vita, which I have both, and a couple for the Switch.

I want one that's fun, can last a while, and actually feels like it is a part of the series, preferably something related to the first season.

I'd have to agree with you on the Sword Art Online games being underwhelming. I own Lost Song digitally on my PS4 and I played it for about an hour or two the day I bought it and I haven't picked it up since. It might not have been a bad game, but it wasn't captivating in the slightest and the combat was slow, bland, and unexciting. There was nothing in the 1-2 hours of gameplay that really drove me to want to pick it up and play it again.

A friend of mine purchased Hollow Fragment and had a very similar experience-- lackluster enemies, dull gameplay, and just a slog to get through. He hasn't bothered picking it up since he bought it, so make of that what you will.

Even though I've only played one game, the majority of the reviews and stuff I've heard about SAO games has been negative. Either the story or the gameplay (or both) are usually mediocre and leave people wanting more.

I've heard that Hollow Realization is widely regarded as one of, if not the best of the SAO games out there from people that play them. I can't comment on it personally, but it might be worth checking out. From what I've gathered, it has it doesn't really follow the light novel or anime and instead has its own continuity that follows an alternate timeline after Hollow Fragment.

SacredShadow : I picked up Hollow Realization when it was more than half off around Black Friday and I instantly fell in love with it before even completing the tutorial, probably putting 50 hours into the game in the 1st 2 weeks of playing it.

I'm really glad that I picked it up.

I would probably say that the sword art online fatal bullet is the best one currently so far and it is also a game that I have seen the most improvements through updates in a while to be sure and there is DLC of course but it isn't really needed.
