What would you say is the most important ingredient to a pizza parlor? The dough? Or the cheese?

Personally, I am going to say the cheese. Dough is dough, it's mostly to the same to me. It's the seasoning that makes the dough. However, if you have bad cheese, the entire pizza is ruined. A great cheese makes a great pizza.

thing1 : cheese to me is the most important ingredient while the dough is also important but for the most part I would have to agree with you that it pretty well tastes the same except when there is too much oil used then the pizza tends to taste too oily I used to work at pizza Hut for 15 years and we used to use two different oil pumps to put the oil on the pans one was for the medium pans and the other was for the large ones for the hand tossed pizzas we were using pans that had small holes in the bottom of them but instead of using oil we sprayed these pans with cooking spray before adding the dough the other ingredients to me are also important because just like cheese they too should be fresh and not mouldy otherwise the pizza would taste pretty bad

I'd say the sauce is more important than cheese or dough.

Some sauce is too strong and can ruin pizza and give you really bad acid reflux few hours after eating it.

Style of pizza makes all the difference too. I prefer the brooklyn style because it is thinner and has less bread.

100% agree with JigSaw here. I've honestly had some repulsive sauces on a pizza before and it's not something you can scrape off like a bad topping. One time I even had tomato sauce with like tomato pieces in it, but they were like soggy and gross.

Cheese is definitely #2. I'm actually not a cheese fan in the slightest but good cheese works wonders on a pizza and Italian cuisine is the only time I'll ever eat cheese.

I think it all comes down to how much dough you are consuming. On thin pizzas I can't tell a difference but on thicker ones it is more noticeable. Some people have a weird habit of not eating the crust on end of slice. I'm guessing that is why they now have cheese stuffed crust pizza to force them to eat it

JigSaw : Because the sauce it is the most important part. I choose cheese and dough for this discussion because I've had burnt bread or bread with too much flour. I've also had bad and spoiled mozarella on my pizza. Both were pretty close to equal, but the bread can be managed most of the time if it is not too egregious.

Well I would say the dough, but at the end of the day, everything on a pizza is important. Personally I don't mind a thicker dough, a thicker crust, and so on. I also never understood why people hate the pizza crust. If done right, it's so good, if not, still not bad lol.

Since I'm sticking true to the original question, well yes Sauce is def the most important, but Dough for me as a person who consistently bakes and is with bread daily I think it's more important than the cheese, only because you can go wrong with the dough in so many more ways than you can with the cheese. If you mess up on the cheese then that's a yikes. But the bread has so many more variables in my own (biased) opinion.

Honestly it matters who the manager of the pizza store is and how much they care about the place. This alone either makes or breaks the food quality and overall customer service of the store, also the employees must be happy and the store cleanliness must be held to a high standard for the food to be good every time. There are a lot of factors that can make or break a pizza place and the quality of the food they produce.
