Final Fantasy shouldn't need an introduction unless you have been living under a rock. This 30 year old series developed by Square Enix is one of, if not THE most popular video game franchise that they have created. Final Fantasy is infamous for its ridiculous amount of sequels, although none of the games really have anything to do with each other besides just being another Final Fantasy experience. That being said, which one is your favorite? 

My favorite Final Fantasy game also happens to be my favorite game as of now, Final Fantasy XV. I haven't played a lot of them or finished many but I am currently in the process of doing so with what I have. Final Fantasy XV is just wow, too good for words in my opinion. I will admit I haven't finished it yet but what I have played is enough for me to declare this as being my favorite game of all time.

Me it would be Final Fantasy IV, and has been for awhile. I love it's characters, it's story, and it's music. It even got a sequel in the form of The After Years, which was really nice for me.

Lexatom : My favorite is IX. Aside from its stellar production values, it is quite articulate. It has a very interesting and enticing cast of characters, who each have a specified role within battle (Which gives them distinct attributes and abilities, which I mostly prefer over having the characters act as blank slates). The cast is diverse, and almost all of them play off of each other with some very clever character dynamics at work (which I believe is key to any great story). The gameplay is similar to a previous game (IV), but it has enough going for it to stop it from being exactly alike. The level design is absolutely brilliant, as the game is filled with many appealing and astounding environments, with loads of world-building. The music is majestic, and some of the best work that Nobuo Uematsu has composed in his decade-spanning career. The game has some flaws though (a slow battle transition and flow, some characters don't get enough development, there are some appaling plot decisions near the end), but I believe it is near-perfect regardless and a fine example of the brilliance of Final Fantasy. 

I wonder if anyone else on the planet has FF III for the famicom as their favorite. 

It's definitely not one of the better known ones, as it wasn't originally released in North America, I simply had found it on an emulator site and played it on an NES emulator. It was my very first turned-based RPG, and it opened my eyes to a whole new type of amazing gaming. 

In fact, because of it, I've always preferred RPGs that are fully turn based (with no timing element) and that had a side view of the battle. 

I love the Final Fantasy X/X2 Remastered. Played it a lot for Vita and wanna get it for PS4. I put so many hours into it and I loved the music and the story but my favorite thing out of the whole game is playing Blitzball, I played hundreds of matches in my life.

Final Fantasy XII is probably my favorite in the series, despite it actually be a break away from the signature formula. I know that's a relatively unpopular opinion and XII didn't get as much of a following as some of the other big titles, but once you get past the mental block, it's a fantastic game.

I won't argue that it doesn't have issues, but I will argue that the license board in the original PS2 version wasn't a bad as people made it. I can't speak for the job system in The Zodiac Age because I haven't played it yet, despite owning it, but the original fall just short of masterpiece status in my book.

That's tough for me since there are quite a few that I like, but I'd say Final Fantasy X is my favorite. It's been ages since I've played the original, but I recently bought the remastered X/X2 version for PS4, so I'm looking forward to finally being able to refresh my memory and thoroughly enjoy the game and its characters all over again.

Final Fantasy IV (II in North America), VII, and VIII are all pretty good as well. I've also played XV, but I thought it could've been better considering how long it took to come out. I've seen early trailers for what the game was originally intended to look like (back when it was FF Versus XIII) and I must say, I'd rather sacrifice the improved graphics of XV if it meant being able to play the game Nomura had envisioned over a decade ago. It's a shame he was pulled away from his dream game and instead told to focus on KH3 and FFVII remake instead, which I hope turn out to be excellent games. I sometimes imagine how different XV would be if Nomura had never been pulled away from its development...

Honestly, if I had to choose one, it'd be FF5. Out of all the FF games, it felt the most balanced by far despite giving a lot more freedom of choice than almost all of the other games - unlike FF3, it doesn't have an overabundance of classes where some of them are okay, some of them are completely unusable garbage, and some of them are ridiculously strong and the only ones you should actually use. Every single party combination, even a party with no jobs and no abilities or a party of four Berserkers, can beat the game, although some parties will have a lot less trouble than others. It's also one of the only Final Fantasy games to take a more humorous look at itself and its plot, with Exdeath being the most generic villain ever and the game spending plenty of time pointing it out, and one sage character mocking the main character's dumb questions and getting snarky about it. Overall, it was probably the one I ended up enjoying the most, although FF6 and FF4 both come very close.

My personal favorite final fantasy game is probably Final Fantasy V, because the job system adds a lot of depth to the game and it makes everything that much more fun to play around with.

If we're also including spinoffs, Final Fantasy Tactics is an absolutely amazing game with a super crazy story, I love it so much. It has a really nice aesthetic too.

My favorite Final Fantasy game would have to be Final Fantasy X. It's the first Final Fantasy game that I put a large amount of time into. Technically I think Final Fantasy VIII was the first Final Fantasy I played but I didn't play it very long. I was also just a little kid when I was playing these games so it was hard for most games to keep my interest at that time. However, I ended up playing quite a bit of Final Fantasy X back then, way more than I spent on most games at the time.

nakina : Same, X is my choice as well. The remastered one was the first FF game I played in a decade and it got me into the series. Plus who cant love Blitzball?

FF6 on the gba. loved the story so much and the visuals. Would love to try the playstation version sometime
