I got inspired by a poll on vgchartz to do this, I wanted to make a thread because a poll would be limiting the answers, at least that can be applied to the poll on vgchartz. Many new IPs have been born during this generation, some have already become a series, and I've played a lot of them, the only rule is that the new IP in question must have been released in 2012 at the earliest, if the new IP came out in 2011 or before, it doesn't count, because of that, the Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise and El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron almost count...almost.

Anyway, purely as a game, my favourite new IP of this generation is probably a tie between Freedom Planet and Shovel Knight, I love platformers and both games are a lot of fun.

If we focus on the other aspects of a game, my favourite new IP is definitely Blue Reflection, as a game, Blue Reflection is just a good game at best, and I can understand if some people say that the game is okay or worse, but I love the other aspects of the game, it's far from being my favourite new IP of this generation, at least as a game, pretty much everything else in the game is phenomenal, the characters, music, graphics, and the story...even the suggestive content is very welcome, I agree that it serves as characterization of the characters in the game and comparing Blue Reflection with Hyperdimension Neptunia, the ''fan service'' is justified...kind of.

Of course, there are more new IPs, I love Gravity Rush (I need to play the sequel more), Moco Moco Friends is okay, Voez on the Nintendo Switch is a lot of fun, I really like Devil's Third and I think that the game isn't as bad as some people say it is...I can keep going. So, yeah, I would go with Freedom Planet and Shovel Knight for the gameplay, and Blue Reflection for almost everything else. So...what's your favourite new IP?

Ni No Kuni. I don't know of another hero like Oliver in all of gaming. Not one (except, perhaps, Evan from the sequel). Ni No Kuni broke the "emo protagonist" mold by putting the task of saving the world(s) in a child's hands. This child is, full-on, a traditional Studio Ghibli hero (and Studio Ghibli was involved in the game's art direction and cutscenes).

I'm glad there is a demand for entertainment that includes such heroes. There's just too much bad in this world, and having someone like Oliver or Evan in it would make the world a so, so much better place. So having an example like that in a game is a dream come true.

Add that to solid gameplay, music and amazing art direction, and you get a series that is bound to last the test of time.
