Perhaps opinions may different on this stance, but when this site was lively, one of the most appealing parts was the general chat room, where we wouldnt have to post on a forum and wait for a reply, we could just chat it up instantly. It created a culture that allowed the thought of returning for new and interesting conversations to happen and entice people to come back for more. However, whenever I seem to hop on to vizzed, the chat room is empty and hasn’t been used in at least 24 hours. This is alarming to me because it was constantly active with the exception of the very early mornings. This feature needs to be lively again if vizzed wants to have that desire to return and loyalty factor to be present again.

I agree with you, attempting to advertise the general chat room was a great idea I think if people would stick around in there it would make a stronger friendly community and great way to discuss common interests. Unfortunately as David has announced that the over all community traffic has slowed down significantly, I've seen the activity drop a lot over the past year like the forum's having 100 posts a day to now only having 1-5 a day. I wished I knew about this site much earlier to see it in its glory. And hoping to see it thriving again

there is a discord server, its about the same as the old rooms for the most part, same function at least, but activity isnt that high in it and its not advertised well on the site which is a shame because i agree the chats were one of the best parts. im hoping david sticks to the plans he recently laid out and the site gains more activity so the site could regain at least a portion of what it was.

discord is now offering embed option to developers with high userbase, maybe we could replace that chat with discord.

It's actually probably a good idea to open this up. I hadn't thought of trying to advertise the chatrooms despite it being fairly obvious that something that doesn't get much traffic needs to be advertised...

Something I think might help some is having the link more conspicuous. Right now, it's fairly easy to miss if you don't already know it's there.

mastergame : Does that involve anything like buying a license? He's said before that he doesn't really wanna buy any more licenses for stuff if he can keep from it. Though, integrating Discord into the site would help a whole lot I think. a whole lot of people prefer it over a lot of other services.

Hey guys. David chose this chat for a reason. Discord, and other servers, are, well... on OTHER SERVERS. How does that help Vizzed? I've said it once, I'll keep saying it. Quit advertising other sites. Drum up Vizzed activity by coming here, not discord. We few that don't go, know what goes down there. Loose lips sink ships.

manicman66 : If it's embedded on the site, we still get the ad hits and the site traffic. It would be a win/win from what I could tell.

I don't hate the chatroom we have now, it just seems like everyone else prefers other services.

I don’t actually know what goes on on discord chat rooms as I’ve decided against venturing into them.

how would advertising a discord server FOR vizzed hurt the site. by that logic it shouldnt have a facebook or youtube account either, and the minecraft server shouldnt have been a thing.

getting people involved in the official discord chat would be nothing but beneficial and while it might not revive the site it certainly wouldnt hurt it. getting people involved in the site, no matter how, can only have a positive impact.

Embedding Discord on this site would be the best idea, but I'm not sure that we can actually do it.

In the meantime, we must advertise the currently existing chat rooms. It has been said before by several others and I'll also say it here: rules. Can we ban a user in Vizzed because of something they did on a "foreign" server? Nope. But we can ban people for not behaving like they should in OUR chat room. As simple as that. Some people have even abandoned the site due to this gray area, so it's clear that the official chat room must always be on this site.

Besides all revenue and activity, what matters most for this site is being able to attract new users and keep the veterans glued. This may require a more updated and functional chat room, and David has announced his plans on dedicating more time to the community and fixing what already exists on the site before developing anything new, so there are hopes we can please anyone without having to rely on other servers in the months to come.

We could leave a summon to see what he thinks but it'll probably be a low priority since there's bigger fish to fry at the moment and we don't have all the facts about how integrating Discord into the site would work. For the time being, we should draw attention to the existing chatrooms like we're doing now.

EX Palen : Actually, it was technically made the "Official Vizzed Discord" server and the server's rules have been updated. Being banned on the server for minor offenses won't result in a forum ban just like we've handed out chat bans without forum bans in the past, but any of the big ones like posting "adult entertainment" will result in a perma both on the server and the site, as we would if it had happened in the on-site chatrooms. It's more or less an extension of the site that hasn't been attached yet.
