Mario Party 4

Mario Party 4: The Best Mario Party Game
Mario Party, a series that needs no introduction. Yet, an introduction would help.

In 1998, Nintendo released the first Mario Party for the N64. The goal of the game was to go around a board collecting coins and stars. The player who got the most stars won.

On October 21, 2002, Nintendo would release their 4th installment, Mario Party 4(how original). This game was the first Mario Party game that was put on the Gamecube.

The series has become infamous for being the crucible that tests the strongest of friendships. If you can remain friends with the people you're playing with after a game, consider yourselves brothers and sisters. Your friendship survived the ultimate test.

This game is my all time favorite Mario Party game. Hopefully you guys will understand why in this review.

Graphics:10
The graphics for this game are GORGEOUS! The graphics for this game were more detailed and shaded; this helped showcase the power of the Gamecube. Unfortunately, this is the only game in the franchise to use such shaded graphics(the next closest one being Mario Party 8.) Also, this is the ONLY game in the franchise to use pre-rendered cutscenes.

Sound:10
The music for this game is amazing! Koopa's Seaside Soiree is my personal favorite of the board themes. Also, the sound effects sounded nice as well. An often overlooked theme that also sounded great is the theme known in the soundtrack as, "Start the Party" which is the theme that plays in party mode while you're picking your characters and settings.

Addictive:8
I am very likely to play this game again! This game features minigames that are, in my personal opinion, the best minigames in the franchise. Unfortunately, there aren't really a lot of them compared to the previous games.

Story:6
Surprisingly enough this game's story is actually pretty good. The story is that it's your birthday(everyone has the same birthday for so... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon Rumble

Pokemon Rumble Review: A Great WiiWare Game
The Wii Shop...other than Virtual Console, there really wasn't necessarily anything interesting to use Wii Points on. Then, I saw it...a demo for a certain game..."Pokemon Rumble". I download it, guiding Mario to the coins while the game downloads. I boot it up and play. It is amazing! I HAVE to get the full version! Now that I have told you my experience, let's get to the review.

Graphics: 7
For a WiiWare game, the graphics are pretty good. The premise is that the Pokemon are metal toys(not plastic, as I once thought). The Pokemon look alright.

Sound: 5
The music for the game is pretty good Each area has a different theme and they sound alright. However, it's hard to enjoy the stage music because of the battle theme (I have experience with this as someone who enjoyed Sonic Unleashed).

Addictive: 10
This game is extremely addicting! Though the premise is simple, it is done very well.

Story: 6
The story is pretty basic, raise a team of champions to take on the Battle Royale and prove that you are the very best like no one ever was.

Depth: 4
The game is pretty small. There are only pokemon from Generations 1 and 4, which is weird because some Gen 4 Pokemon evolve from Pokemon from Gen 2. Also, the game boils down to:
1. Go to area
2. Fight everything
3. Pray that you can make the enemy wobble so you can knock it down and recruit it

Difficulty: 7
The game can be difficult. However, it really doesn't get difficult until EX Mode, which is unlocked after clearing the main story. Your main strategy is to use a Pokemon that has ranged attacks, or spamming a swiping attack that creates a sort of barrier in front of your Pokemon.

Overall: 9.5
This game is really, really good. Unfortunately, there isn't really a way to get this game unless you have a Wii with it already on it. Of course, you can sail the high seas (That is your choice to make.) The th... Read the rest of this Review
Earthbound

Earthbound: A SMAAAASHING Game
Today I will be reviewing Earthbound. We will find out if the game is a SMAAAASH or just a miss. If you've read the title, you already know the answer. Let's find out why I like it so much.

Graphics: 8
Remember, this is still a SNES game. That being said, the graphics were really good for the time. The enemy designs were really well done.

Sound: 8
The sound design is really good. The soundtrack is full of jams (my particular favorite being the Sanctuary Guardian theme), and that "SMAAAASH" sound effect is like candy to my ears (unless I'm on the receiving end of it.) There are actually quite a few references to famous songs in the game. Here are some examples:

West of Onett, you find a man playing a trumpet. The song he plays after you talk to him is actually Dvorak's "Symphony No. 9 Movement 2".

The music that plays when fighting a weak opponent sounds like "Tequila" by The Champs.

The beginning of the song that plays when fighting Frank or a hippie sounds like "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry.

The music in Moonside is a distorted version of "The Star Spangled Banner".

The Dungeon Man theme uses a drum beat that sounds like the drums in "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by The Beatles.

Addictive: 10
Though the gameplay is pretty linear, it is so much fun to keep playing over and over.

Story: 8
I think the story for the game is really good. Basically, Ness and 3 other kids have to work together to destroy Giygas.

Depth: 5
The game is pretty linear, you have to go from place to place fighting monsters (typical RPG stuff). The game doesn't really have a lot of things to do on the side.

Difficulty: 6
Like most RPGs the difficulty really depends on how much stronger you are. If you grind a lot and level up a lot, the game will be a cake walk. If you hardly grind, the game is going to be a nightmare.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition

Dragon Quest XI Review
I played this game when it was on Steam before the Definitive Edition was announced for the switch. I don't entirely remember what led me to try this game. However, I am very glad I did. Small spoilers ahead! proceed with caution.

Graphics: 10
-The graphics in this game are beautiful! Especially the locations on the map that overlook the ocean! The animations are also smooth. Also, if you want the classic Dragon Quest experience, you can change the graphics to be 2D retro graphics instead! I don't use this option. However, if you do, awesome.

Sound: 8
-The music in this game is really good! The game gives you the option to either listen to midi music or orchestral (you will always choose orchestral.) Quite a few of the songs are actually from other Dragon Quest games. I highly recommend you listen to the Ocean Theme, it is really good.

Addictive: 10
-I am quite addicted to this game. If I'm downloading a game on my switch and need to wait, I play through this game. On the switch alone, I have beaten the story 3-5 times!

Story: 10
-The story of this game is really good. It's quite an extensive story. So, I will not cover it. Instead, I will just go over our fellow party members (and the headcanon voices I use for them because I play with the voice off.) I will say that each place has a different sub-story, and some of them can be heartbreaking (cough...Lonalulu...cough).

Erik (Jason Griffith's Sonic voice): The most powerful character in the game. Capable of dealing illegal amounts of damage. Also, he cherry picks the best things. Most powerful attacks, coolest alternate costume in the game (the one that actually came with the switch version.)

Veronica (Moustache Girl from A Hat in Time): A total Tsundere who can never marry us because she was turned into a kid. The game NEVER gives us a way to change her back. She has powerful magic attacks.

Serena (Zelda's voice fr... Read the rest of this Review
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX

Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Review
I am going to review KH 2.5: Final Mix for PS4. I will be going in-depth into the various aspects of the game to see how good I think it is. There will be spoilers for multiple Kingdom Hearts games. You have been warned. With all of that being said, let's begin!

Graphics:10
- The point of the Final Mix games was to give the games a new coat of paint and to add cut content from the games. The graphics are really smooth and look great. The animations are also amazing. Every reaction command feels very satisfying to perform.

Sound:10
- Pretty obvious right? Yoko Shimomura is an absolute beast with music! She is the video game music version of John Williams! The sounds are also really good. What I think is a neat little detail is that every keyblade has a unique hit sound. The voice actors also do a great job. There are a few lines that I felt needed a different tone of voice and no pauses between words. One example being
"You can't be...Riku?"
. Overall though, there aren't enough to take away from the 10 rating.

Addictive: 10
- I love doing playthroughs of this game! There are several ways you can vary your approach. You can change the difficulty which changes the requirements for unlocking the secret ending. The harder the difficulty, the easier it is to unlock the secret ending. You can also choose which stat you want to specialize in. I always enjoy playing the story again and again.

Story:7
- Everyone knows the meme that you need a PhD to understand Kingdom Hearts lore. That being said, the game's story is pretty good. I do not have the patience to go through the lore.

Depth:10
- There are a whole lot of things to do in Kingdom Hearts 2! Including but not limited to:
-Hades' Colosseum tournaments
-Synthesizing items by using drops from defeated heartless and nobodies
-Various world themed minigames
-2 hidden bosses
-13 themed challenges
-... Read the rest of this Review
