Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to the Past Review by: Natas - 9.5/10 The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past The Legend of Zelda- A Link to the Past is the first Zelda series to hit the SNES systems. It's one of the great games to date for Zelda fans around the world. This title has a lot to offer in the main quest and side quest as well. So there's little chance of beating the game too quick. You'll be glued to your television for a while. I know I did.
The main goal is to rescue the kidnapped Princess Zelda, who was taken by the evil wizard that is attempting to merge the Light and Dark world. Link, the hero must quest to many places to gather the pendents the elder sent him out to do in order to attain the Legendary Sword of Evil's Bane. The Master Sword to fight off the wizard and recuse the princess, but only to find out there is a bigger threat among Hyrule. The evil Lord Gannon. Now, Link must travel rocky areas, swimming in lakes, fighting off evil and gathering the items that is needed to have a final showdown with the evil lord.
Graphics-8
It's one of the best looks in the Zelda series on the classic systems SNES. The 8-bit style of the game runs smoothly with many clear pictures and beautiful colors of the scenery. It's near perfection in my opinion. However, there is of course glitches here in there. Where you take damage without being touch.
Sound-7
With all Zelda. Is the familiar tunes that surrounds Hyrule. A memorable experience with the music. Growing up on this game will bring back nostalgic memories tunes of Zelda as you bash your way to victory. The music is nice and smooth, but it's nothing extraordinarily, so you're not missing any scores on the tunes.
Addictiveness-9
This game is very addicting due to the many challenges that awaits you in the next dungeon or any other places. You will be spending ours exploring the many caves and lakes to find items you need to further your quest and advance in the game, but there's also many side quest to gives you a break from the main quest to enjoy. Side quests that ranges from shooting galleries to a foot race in a obstacle course to attain the heart piece. You'll have hours of fun getting everything you need.
Story-6
The story is your typical routine of rescuing the kidnapped princess from the clutches of evil. Just like with all the Zelda games. The only thing different is it's on the SNES system. It offers more this go around. You must also rescue the kidnapped Maidens so that they can help seal Gannon away once again once you defeated the evil wizard and travel to the dark world of Hyrule.
Depth-9
There's a lot in this game that can be achieved to help you out in the main quest. A decent amount of side quests. With all the time spending gaining more heart pieces to increase your life hearts. It will help fending off evil and all the items you can gain over these side quests. Most of them are very useful. There are particular areas in the game where you can visit the Great Fairy. Toss in certain items/weapons and the fairy will upgrade to more powerful weapons or upgrade your items where you can hold a lot more arrows in your quiver.
Difficulty-9
I gave this a high rating due to the fact in some areas. The enemies are just hard to get by when you need to get into the next room. Such as the knights with the ball and chain. They can be quite troublesome specially if you are low on hearts with no fairies. There is on to note that two of the bosses in the game is extremely annoying. I don't remember their names, but one is the snake like monster that you have to attack it's tail to defeat it, but it's hard when the boss is moving randomly around the area and constantly knocking you off the platform forcing you to start the battle all over. Finally the second boss I mentioned is inside the forest temple. This boss is a moth like creature and you must fight him inside a moving room filled with spikes that darts across the moving room. It gives you very little reaction time to strike your enemy due to this aggravation, but once you defeat them. The rest is pretty much smooth sailing. Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to the Past Box Description: Venture back to Hyrule and an age of magic and heroes. The predecessors of Link and Zelda face monsters on the march when a menacing magician takes over the kingdom. Only you can prevent his evil plot from shattering the land of Hyrule. In your quest, you'll venture into twisting mazes, dungeons, palaces and shadowy forests. Test your mettle with mighty swords and magical weapons. Or heft a boulder and hurl it at your enemies. If the going gets tough, dive into a river - you can swim to escape! Learn the powerful spells, locate magical artifacts and solve the mysteries of the evil magician and the hidden realm of Hyrule.
Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to the Past Description: Recently, famine and drought have plagued Hyrule. When all seemed lost, a mysterious wizard, Agahnim, appeared, and stopped these strange happenings from occurring. But there is talk that Agahnim now rules the country with his magic, behind the scenes. And then, one night, the Princess of Hyrule, Zelda, calls out for help...and the one who hears her pleas is a young lad named Link...
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is a top-down action adventure game (similar to the original Legend of Zelda) for the Super Nintendo and Game Boy Advance. Players assume the role of Link, and their goal is to rescue Princess Zelda and save the land of Hyrule. Unlike turn-based RPGs, all combat in Link to the Past is in real-time - you swing your sword at enemies by pressing a button, or can spin the sword around you for a more powerful attack by holding down the button until it is charged.
Progression through the game is done by conquering a series of dungeons - each dungeon has its own special item associated with it, such as the hookshot (which latches onto a far-off object and pulls Link across) or the hammer (which can be used to flatten objects in your way). Most of these dungeons are rendered impassable until the dungeon's particular item is acquired; from there, the rest of the dungeon becomes accessible due to Link's latest new ability. The bosses of each dungeon are also themed to that level's particular item.
Link starts out with only three units of health; however, these can be increased by defeating dungeon bosses, which give one additional heart container, or by finding four 'pieces of heart'; which can be given for anything from passing a small trial to winning a mini-game. Some of Link's items also use magic - this can be refilled with collectible green magic pots. After defeating the initial three dungeons, Link gains access to the Dark World - many puzzles and difficulties come from alternating between the Light World (Hyrule) and the Dark World to make your way past previously impassable obstacles.

Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to the Past Cheats, Codes and Tips: Chris Houlihan room
Start at the Sanctuary and run south with the Pegasus Shoes until you are outside. Then, run south and stop before you hit the barrier. Proceed to run west until you are able to run south. When you run south, you should be in a wooded area with guards. Navigate this area and find the entrance to the castle grounds. While still running, go around the castle grounds to the hole where you fall into at the beginning of the game. If you did it right, you should be in a room with 45 blue rupees and a Saharasla sign that says: \\\\\\\'My name is Chris Houlihan\\\\\\\' Sometimes when you are fighting Gannon, you may fall into a hole and this may happen.

Any Zelda fan will enjoy The Legend of Zelda:A Link to the Past. This game introduces a new colorful environment, enabling the player to view the land of Hyrule in a whole different way. The Legend of Zelda:A link to the Past is an adventure that's just as fun today as it was 18 years ago. You'll seek out three powerful pendants, then use their magic to awake the sleeping Master Sword.Brandishing it and banishing the dark wizard Agahnim, you'll find the story isn't even halfway over.
A Link to the Past is a truly immersive, engaging experience that you'll be tempted to play through in one sitting – but that would be difficult, given the scope and scale of the quest. But this isn't like the newer titles, in which Link can withstand one-hundred blows before dying. Some bosses will take down Link in as little as two-to-three blows. So be prepared to try again frequently on most dungeons. However, the challenge never gets to the point of frustration, and most will find the challenge a welcoming element for those pampered by the built-in game aids in future installments.
Also, unlike its three-dimensional brothers, doing everything in A Link to the Past won't take up the rest of your lifetime. A Link to the Past takes the best tracks from the previous Zelda games and remixes them adding a large number of new music as well. All of the music is very well done, though some tend to get a bit repetitive at times. Dungeon tracks sound ominous, boss tracks are exciting, and the castle track is majestic. While not as good as the music, sound effects are good as well.Bombs, swords, and spells all sound fairly realistic.
With a new story and enhanced gameplay, The Legend of Zelda:A Link to the Past is recommended for any player looking for action and adventure!
