Bloody Roar Primal Fury

Bloody Roar: Primal Fury - Treated Unfairly
Blood Roar: Primal Fury - Treated Unfairly

My Introduction to You:

Back in my childhood, game demo discs were SO popular in the gaming magazines. Many magazines would have a few to a bunch of games for you to enjoy for a short amount of time or a whole stage and it would give you an idea of what the game was like. The one I remember being most influential towards me getting the game as soon as possible was Bloody Roar 2. The game was in a magazine and when I played it with my sis, we were all, Wow, turning into beasts mid match while fighting? AWESOME!

So I got to rent Bloody Roar 2 and boy did I have a fun time. I just had to own it, and luckily enough, we found a sample of Bloody Roar 3 in a Sony store on a PS2 and started playing that and of course, we were even more amazed since the game evolved from its previous PSX graphics. We bought the game immediately, went home, and played the heck out of it actually maining characters we found most fun to play.

And then...through my fighting game experiences later down the line and understanding of hardcore fighting game mechanics, such as canceling. My combos went from 2-3 hits, to 40 hits. That in a 3D fighting game not by Capcom is not too common, and it really isn't because a combo like that could easily be escaped in Bloody Roar from with just one aerial recovery, but that doesn't mean you can't try to keep a person in the air. If I had to describe how this game plays in a nutshell, imagine Dead or Alive, Tekken, and Capcom with no projectiles, merged into one...And sure enough it still remains balanced in some form thanks aerial combos being escapable.

So why am I reviewing Bloody Roar Primal Fury instead of 3? I feel it's the best Bloody Roar overall, but is it a good game? Honestly, I'll just say right now, many people who reviewed this game weren't "fighting" gamers, and simply look past this game as crummy. However, I've studied fighting games since ... Persona 4 Arena - Want to Get Into Fighting Games?
Persona 4 Arena - Want to get into Fighting Games?

My Introduction to You:

A good friend of mine (Epsilon) and I have a huge rivalry against each other in fighting games. Before we met, he though thought he was good at fighting games from past experiences he had, and I knew I wasn't good enough at fighting games after my encounters with pro fighting gamers. When we met, we played Arcana Heart 3, and then it became pretty obvious where he and I stood with fighting games.

To him, I seemed like a pro. To me, he clearly didn't own Street Fighter 3 Third Strike or even King of Fighters. From that point on, he wanted to beat me and would become as adept as possible in Fighting games, and now we are at the same level pretty much. One day, he was the first to make a move on a newer fighting game we didn't have but played at Anime Expo. As of recent, I got my butt whipped in Persona 4 Arena by his vigorous training, even after teaching me much of the system. Now I'm borrowing the game from him to review it, and it turns out, which he mentioned from the lesson mode, the game is easier to learn than most fighting games but also has some advanced material. In short, the best way to put it is that its Aksys's answer to Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Depth: 9

What's on the outside of the game:

Persona 4 Arena is a pretty awesome fighting game that offers Aksys style Blazblue gameplay while adding elements influenced by the Persona series and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The game has a good amount of modes to offer that are also commonly seen in most Aksys fighting games today. These modes are Lesson mode, Story mode, Arcade mode, Score Attack mode, Challenge mode, Versus mode and Network mode. These modes are all there to help you become a better fighting gamer to take on other players, though, the true experience will only come from training with human players in general rather than the A.I.

The lesson mode co... Read the rest of this Review
God Hand

God Hand - WHY HAVEN'T YOU PLAYED THIS GAME YET!?
God Hand - Why Haven't You Played This Game Yet!?

My introduction to you (and my first review to reach a god like almost 5000 words -I try to stick to 2000-3000 but this made me believe in heaven for awesome games):

So back in the day when I was so believing of the internet and what critics had to say about games in magazines and their websites, I thought God Hand was REALLY a 3/10. It's been 7 years since 2006 and I finally decided to try God Hand after suddenly remembering it while looking around on forums when someone randomly brought up "God Hand." The game has been on PSN since 2011 and I always kept telling myself, "I'll buy it, it's only 10$," and two years later, I finally got on it. Now I "Dragon Kick" myself into the Milky Way, wondering why I never rented or even BOUGHT the game when I first saw the cover of a guy getting a fist right through his mouth to the back of his head.
God hand is a big whopping 9 out of 10, not a 3 out of 10 game, don't listen to any bad comments about the game... they are all false as it is the person's own fault for making the game too hard for them to play. This game doesn't joke around when it wants to tell you how bad you suck at games. Want to become a god? Get to Hard Mode on God Hand, beat it, and then try something like God of War and watch how you breeze through it.

Depth: 9

God Hand is hands down, the best 3D brawler I've ever played and allows for so much freedom and customization in however you want to brawl your enemies. What makes God Hand so epic and amazing is the gameplay and difficulty in its entirety as well as having no limits to what may appear in the game. What God Hand brings you is a game simply about brawling and Clover Studios certainly concentrated on nothing but that before Capcom shut them down, in other words, "They went out with a big bang," as many would say.

You are allowed to choose Easy or Normal mode from the start, as we... Read the rest of this Review

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle - Not as Amazing as I Remembered...
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle - Not as Amazing as I Remembered...

My introduction to you:

I remember back in the day when I was a lil' Shogun Gamer, I used to be a vice-president of a small sonic club my ex-best friend and I started in grade school. We were such Sonic fans, we had to get every sonic game that came out...even "Sonic Shuffle." On my to-do list of reviews, Sonic Adventure 2 was one of them. As I remembered back to my sonic club childhood, it dawned on me that I used to have lots of fun playing that game with friends. Maybe that was the spirit of it all, having friends over at your house rather than online and laughing together even in the most difficult times of the game.

The image that it was one of the greatest sonic games was branded in my childhood memory until the day I decided to review the game. After playing it all the way through within 8 hours (and spending lots of time messing around and purposely glitching the game), I then realized that the game isn't really as incredible as I thought it was, or at least, compared to what we have now, it's really aged over time.

Depth: 8

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle from the Gamecube is or was once a pretty cool game. Why do I say this? Well, it does have quite a bit to offer, but my recent play of it changed my opinion of the gameplay immensely. When I remember back to when I played it, I only remember having fun on the Sonic and Shadow stages, as well as using the Chao Garden. It turns out, those were probably the best things about Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, as well as the additional stages in versus mode.

There are a good amount of options in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. The Single Player mode has Story mode, stage select, boss rush, and kart racing. The 2P Battle mode has a variety of options two player challenges related to the three gameplay styles of the game as well as some new modes that didn't appear in the original. There are also ... Star Fox Assault

Star Fox Assault - Imagine if it had been on the Wii or Wii-U
Star Fox Assault - Imagine if it had been on the Wii or Wii-U

My introduction to you:

Star Fox, the sci-fi on-rails shooter, might be amongst one of Nintendo's weakest titles, only having 5 actual games not including the 64 remake or cancelled games. Out of all these games, a majority of gamers would find themselves only truly loving Star Fox on the SNES, Star Fox 64, or some for Star Fox Command if not the unreleased Star Fox 2!
So what happened along the way on the gamecube console? Nintendo hired Rare and Namco to work on their game for them, that's what. Honestly, I feel this really wasn't a good move for Nintendo as I feel the team who originally worked on the series could only truly understand the series as a whole. Though, not to say the games were bad, but they were certainly far from the majority of love the previous games received. Star Fox Assault was a bit like the Sonic Unleashed of Star Fox.
