Review of Mega Man 5 (Best NES Mega Man Ever)   tornadocam
Mega Man 5 is one of the best Nintendo Entertainment Mega Man games out there. Here is a review I have done on this great game.
Story: 9
Mega Man 5's story line from the intro of the game and from the games manual. Proto Man
appears to have gone haywire. Proto Man has sent 8 robots after his brother
Mega Man. Dr. Light is even kidnapped by what looks like Proto Man. Dr. Cossack
who is now an assistant of Dr. Light’s gives Mega Man a new buster so he can
solve this mystery. Mega Man wonders why is his brother doing this and is it
really Proto Man. The story of Mega Man 5 was very good and better than Mega
Man 4’s story.  The story really makes the player think that one of the good guys has turned bad. It is the type of plot that has mystery to it and it is like the player has to solve this mystery. It was very creative on Capcom’s part to come up with a story like this where
there is suspense, mystery and drama within a game.  How many Mega Man games have that type of plot this is the only one I can think of.

Graphics: 10

Mega Man 5 had some of the best graphics of all Nintendo Entertainment System Mega Man games. The way the palm trees move in Napalm’s man stage is a nice touch. In
fact, it reminded me of Super Mario Brothers 3 which had very good graphics.
The way the crystal’s shine in Crystal Man’s stage is a nice touch as well.
Stone Man’s mountain background makes the player think they are going into a
mountain. Also how Mega Man flashes when he is charging his buster is very
good. Mega Man in this game gets a powerful buster shot fully charged. That was
a step up from Mega Man 4 were the buster was a slim stream. Now it is a very
powerful blast. Also compared to Mega Man 4 the graphics of him charging his
shots looked like it was missing something, but in this game Capcom did it
perfectly. The controls are nice too no were in this game does Mega Man feel
sluggish. The springs are really good too. In addition, no were in this game
does the game seem like it lags for me. It is hard to believe that this was an
8 bit game sometimes it felt like it was 16 bit. It has been speculated that
Mega Man 5 was supposed to be for the SNES.

Music/sound: 10

What can I say this game had some of the best Music in Mega Man games well maybe second best if you include Mega Man 7? The sound track is awesome Napalm’s man stage music is one of my favorites. Stone man’s tune I like as well as Crystal Man’s
stage theme. In fact, not one stage has bad music in this game. The fortress
stages even have nice rocking tunes. I also like the way Mega Man sounds when
he is charging his buster. The player can see and gets the feeling that Mega
Man is consuming powerful energy. Also the way the enemies make their sounds
lets the player know their attacks are serious. Especially the robot masters
and bomb enemies have very good sounds. Capcom made sure that this game had
very good music. A lot of Mega Man games have good music but then there are
some that have very good music such as Mega Man 7, Mega Man V, Mega Man 5, Mega
Man IV and Mega Man 3.

Additiveness and Depth:9
Mega Man 5 is a very fun game to play. The story and plot really adds replay value to this
game. Also the sound tracks add replay value. This is game is in my top 5 of
Mega Man games that I go back and play over again. The Depth of this game is
typical of Mega Man games  that consist of several stages but it is slightly better. Unlike
other Mega Man games the player has to collect letters in this game. Mega Man
1-4 did not have that. So to get the secret weapon that Dr. Cossack made for
Mega Man the player has to collect all the letters. The letters are hidden so
revisiting stages is a must to complete this game. The only other Mega Man game
that the player has to collect letters in is Mega Man IV (Game Boy) Mega Man 6
and Mega Man 7. How Capcom did it were every stage has a letter only rivals two
other games Mega Man 7 and Mega Man IV for Game Boy. Mega Man 5 is longer and
takes a while to beat unlike other Mega Man games such as Mega Man 2 that are
shorter.

Difficulty:8
Mega Man 5 does have some hard spots in the game. The stages have difficult spots in them. The robot masters are not too bad compared to other Mega Man games. Considering that the powerful buster can do as much damage as special weapons to the bosses brings the difficulty rating down a little bit. However, the fortress stages
can be difficult so that is what keeps the rating decent. Not to mention, that
collecting the letters also adds difficulty because it takes skill to get some
a few of them. Also the enemy placement in this game is above average.
Sometimes it is so easy to get bombarded with enemies and having to shoot it
out. A few stages have enemies that just want to hit you and knock you into the
pits or spikes. So Mega Man 5 is no easy game. But it’s the type of difficulty
that is challenging and that I like; it requires skills and creativity.

Overall: 9.6
What can I say I love this game it is one of my favorites. Everything a great game has
this game has, the graphics, the rocking music and the difficulty make this one
a gem. I rank this game up there with Mega Man7, Mega Man V, Mega Man IV, Mega
Man 4 and Mega Man 3 as greatest Mega Man games in the classic series. I also
like the storyline how it leads players to think that the good guys are turning
bad and as I mentioned in the plot section it adds mystery to it.  I would highly recommend this game. The only negative I have of this game and it is so minor is that the Mega Buster is sometimes more powerful than special weapons. But, as I said that is very minor. It is
rumored that Mega Man 5 was supposed to have been made for the SNES if that is
the case they may explain why this game is so good and has better graphics. In
summary, this game is fun, it is great, so I recommend playing this game you
won’t be disappointed

Mega Man 5 Review   Zircron Swift
I have to admit, I didn't see much hope in this game after playing the forth one. Although a fair few people saw Mega Man 4 as a good, challenging game, I found it a little too easy for my liking, in more ways than one. I suspected this game to be more or less the same. All I can say is that I'm glad I was wrong. This game got its Mega Man feel back on its feet, maybe not in quite the same way the first 3 Mega Man games felt, but I can say it's better than decent for sure.
So the game starts out with the same old stuff of the world being at peace, then something terrorising man-kind. This time it appears to be Protoman, who has kidnapped Dr. Light. That's all there is too it. In all honesty, Protoman was there to help Mega Man in the third and forth game, and this seems out of character of him to instantly do bad things. I'm not implying Dr. Wily is behind it all (okay, maybe I am just a little bit), but since Dr. Wily was behind it the last four games, it would be wise to keep that in mind. In fact, the story is turning into a "defeat all eight robot masters... *gasp!* It was Dr. Wily all along? Defeat Dr. Wily" In fact, I'm already calling it that Dr. Wily is behind it in all the other Mega Man classic games. Oh, and apparently Dr. Cossack is working with Dr. Light now.
Eight new robot masters to fight (as per usual), which are: Gyro Man, Stone Man, Star Man, Napalm Man, Wave Man, Crystal Man, Charge Man and Gravity Man. For some reason, I like these robot masters. They make sense, they are all pretty different and have this generally feels more creative than the forth game. I was surprised to see that Charge Man was in fact using "charge" as a force, not as electricity, but that adds to the fun of it. The weaknesses also make a sort of sense, just barely though.
Along with the slide and the powering up mega-buster (Yes, it's now called that), you can collect these letters (M, E, G, A, M, A, N and V) with in the level, one letter per level. If you can collect all of them, then the new robot "Beat" will be out to use. What Beat does however, is a surprise, as they haven't had time to test it yet. It's a nice thing to add to a mega man game, and as such, you can actually back track through a level to get these letters again, and it makes replaying levels have a purpose, apart from reliving old memories. However, Stone Mans letter is the hardest to find, as it actually is hidden. Look around for breakable blocks, or you'll just skip it altogether.
The level design is amazing. Compared to the forth game, it's really creative and fun. Gravity Man's level is my favourite, as it takes gravity into play and you can walk on the ceiling. That is just pure genius. Also I get to make the excuse of making GRAVITY defying jokes, but you probably wouldn't understand the gravity of the situation. Jokes aside, the level design of pretty much every level is designed well, keeping things fresh and exciting for the player. I loved the last stage of Protoman's Castle. It's level designs like that which really make a great feel of game play.
The music is pretty awesome. I can only say so many times how the music to a level of a mega man game can match the feel of the level theme and how the beats and music work very well with everything, and how the boss music and such really works you up for a battle and such, so instead I'm going to say it is very Mega Man like. The music offers all that a Mega Man game asks for. Fast paced action, generally awesome, something along those lines. You won't be disappointed with it.
The graphics are even better for the NES than the forth game. Further are the backgrounds detailed to a level that I didn't think the NES was capable of. The later Mega Man games have some of the best graphics for the NES, and the use of colours is amazing, even if the animations are precisely the same. You know what, that simple animation of Mega Man running along has become iconic to me as a fan. I wouldn't have it any other way....although the walking animation for Mega man X was also pretty amazing.
The difficulty was nice and good. It was a little harder than Mega Man 4 for me, but I still found it a tad, a slight bit too easy for me still. Again, it was linked to the charging of your mega-buster than made it easy. However, the boss patterns actually made it harder to land a hit on them, almost balancing the charged up mega-buster to make the game harder. Some were easy, but others were a real challenge, and I admire that. So I won't hold it against this game, even if the end level bosses were a little easy for me.
Overall, I give this game an 8.9/10     I like Mega Man games, and this one will surely go in my top 10. It's a fun game that retains that Mega Man feel to it, with a great set of levels and awesome music. The weapons from the robot masters are creative and fun to use (especially the Charge Slide. Tricky and I hardly use it, but it's still rather creative), and the weaknesses made some sense, which I like. After playing Mega Man 4, you might want to try this one afterwards for a slightly harder challenge. even though Capcom could have made a game for the SNES at this time, they still choose to do it on the NES. Maybe they thought that the 8-bits gave this game style it's certain charm.

Mega Man 5 (NES) Review   yaoyao9
Welcome, to my favorite of the Classic Series (on NES)! Mega Man 5 is the fourth annual sequel in the long-running Mega Man Franchise, and has quickly became my favorite title in the NES line up of Mega Man games despite the majority of the reviews on the Internet call it "just another Mega Man game". What do I love about it? Read on. That's what I'm typing this for, isn't it?
Graphics: Mega Man 5 takes the traditional route of sequels here by simply having minute improvements to graphics. The new enemies, such as the Space-Metools and such, look great despite being physically small. While the backgrounds of the game are a slight step down from Mega Man 4, with Gyro Man's stage being the worst offender of that case, other backgrounds, like Charge Man's stage, are incredibly good looking for 8-bit standards, and even feature the bouncing and clacking of rails like in a real train. The bosses definitely look the best in the titles we have so far, with large, nicely detailed sprites and a few complex actions to sweeten the package. Stone Man's "falling to pieces" was especially pleasing. Finally, the large fortress boss sprites are a pleasant change. MM4's fortress boss sprites, while large and imposing, look a bit flat, and MM2's fortress bosses look like paper. Standouts like "Big Pets" and the Darkman robots (despite their size) look great and really adds to the enjoyment of the game for me, since it is a lot easier to both see your target and to take in how massive it is.
Sound: While the entire soundtrack is great as a whole, and had very few music tracks that I hated (Darkman Fortress Track), it still pales a bit in comparison to the other Mega Man OST selections. The entire soundtrack feels overly happy for some reason, and it was more of a mood changer than anything else. The boss music is once again groovy, but in a strange sense. The music is happy beyond words, and it is simply a strange but creamy experience listening to this stuff. It feels like the movie Saw (not for kids), but with sugary bubblegum music coating it throughout as people are getting slaughtered. A very strange experience indeed. What is also present is the greatest Wily fortress stage theme ever. For the last couple of Wily fortress stages, the music is epic and very underrated. Kiss your Wily Fortress Stage 1-2 theme from MM2 goodbye because this theme is amazing. Not else can be said. It is a decent soundtrack.
IMPROVING OLD GIMMICKS: The Charge Shot doesn't suck anymore! When the opening cut scene said "Dr. Cossack improved the Mega Buster", they weren't kidding. The shot is freaking massive, and easily the size of Mega Man himself. The damage output didn't change, but now, with most enemies needing 3 shots to defeat, the Charge Shot becomes an essential weapon and can wipe out entire screens of enemies with good aim. It is an amazing upgrade, and I'll talk about it a bit more later.
Addictiveness: I'm going to mix this section together with the "Depth" section, as a lot of these 2 sections are similar. The best thing about MM5 are the weapons. Including the Power Stone, the Charge Kick, the everything. People seem to forget that some weapons require a bit of training before handling, and this game will slap you in the face if you don't know how use them. The weapons, while AWFUL in first sight, will become your favorites once you learn how to use them. The key here is to make the enemies HIT the projectiles, instead of shooting it at them. Make them come to their own deaths, instead of you shooting at them. It may sound a bit confusing, but it really isn't. These weapons are very powerful, and unlike MM6, where ammo was sacrificed for this power, here the ability to aim is sacrificed. These weapons are basically moving mines. Only a few of the weapons, like Gyro Attack or Crystal Eye, requires aiming. Weapons like the Power Stone boasts incredible power and plenty of ammo, and work great as a mine. Super Arrow and Charge Kick are both very speed runner friendly weapons, and Napalm Bomb can be used for remote detonation since they bounce forward after landing. I know I'm going on and on, but these weapons are ANYTHING BUT TERRIBLE. They work great, and the need to test and play around with Mega Man's toys are what drives the addictiveness and depth home. This is what makes me want to replay the game: find different ways to use the weapons.
Story: So, apparently, Proto Man went crazy, got 8 of his own Robot Masters, and kidnapped Dr. Light, Mega Man's creator. Now, Mega Man must hunt down his brother to save his "dad". The story is basic, and the conclusion that this Proto Man was an impostor and that Wily was the evildoer in the end really was expected from the start. Blah, there isn't much to say. REALLY.
Difficulty: because you would want to play around with the weapons, Capcom made the gamer hyper easy with the new Charge Shot to back yourself in case your run out of weapon energy. As I've said before, the Charge Shot makes every enemy look like a chump. It is really a neat gimmick, and new players to the franchise should start here, or maybe MM7 (my absolute favorite), but that's a different platform of consoles.
Overall: as my favorite of the Classic Series on NES, MM5 definitely didn't disappoint. It's great cast of weapons, music, and other improvements make is a must play on this console. I hope you had as much fun as I did playing it.

Mega Man 5 Review   XAzurosityX
I am XAzurosityX And here is my review for Mega Man 5
This game is wonderful, which is expected from a game from the Mega Man classic series. The game play keeps the same as the other games in the series in the fact that there is 8 Robot Masters, 8 Abilities you get from defeating them, and then you go onto a castle and defeat the main villain of the game. The players of this series liked that fact that the games were the same, yet this game and Mega Man 4 were different in the fact that you would go to the castle, find out that Doctor Wily, (Dr Albert Wily) was framing the creator of the robot masters and he was in charge, having you go to his castle and defeat him. This being said, the story was barely changed instead of the fact that Dr. Cossack was framed in MM4 instead of Proto Man is MM5. They also have really "bent" Proto Man in the fact that he was against Mega Man in Mega Man 3, Then helped him in Mega Man 4, and Is Evil again in Mega Man 5. I never got that fully understood. And Proto Man fights alongside Mega Man in 9 and 10! But besides that, The game is good. Here are some things I'm going to go over
> Graphics <
The graphics of this game are wonderful, not in the foreground, but in the background. In Proto Man's castle, Level 1, You can see a pink sky with skyscrapers and other buildings behind the castle. I find it marvelous. Also Gyro Man's stage, I love how they incorporated the clouds in, and how when you're covered in them, you become invisible. This is turned against you during Gyro Man's boss fight, and I love the challenge of trying to hit him without his weakness.
> Sound and Music <
Well the sound isn't much to look at. Or hear at... hear at... is that an actual term...? I thi- Okay back to the Review. There isn't much SFX in this game, and all you hear most of the time is *blam blam* because you just shot or destroyed (not killed) an enemy. But the music is wonderful and always has been wonderful for the mega man series. Even Mega Man X, Mega Man Zero, etc.
> Story <
The Story goes, Mega Man has saved the world from Doctor Wily for the 4th time. Now, Proto Man seems bent on destroying the world with his 8 Robot Minions, Stone Man, Gravity Man, Crystal Man, Charge Man, Napalm Man, Wave Man, Star Man, and Gyro Man. Mega Man decides to stop this when Proto Man goes too far and kidnaps Mega Man's creator, Dr. Light! Dr. Cossack, the creator of the Robots from Mega Man 4, framed by Wily, Has created a new companion for Mega Man known as Beat. However, he needs the power of the letters "MEGAMANV" That the robots have in their stages to awaken Beat. Mega Man Rushes as fast as he can to defeat Proto Man and Get Dr. Light back.
> Depth <
This game doesn't have much to offer, since it's basically the same as the fourth instalment. It only has a few more game mechanics like the upside-down flips from Gravity Man's stage and Beat.
> Difficulty <
This game doesn't have much difficulty in it, unless you're new to the series. There isn't much to say about the difficulty of this game.
So that basically sums it up for Mega Man 5. I highly suggest that you play this game, link here ---> http://www.vizzed.com/play/mega-man-5-nes-online-nintendo-nes-489-game
anyways, I hope you enjoyed this review and I'll see you next time!

Mega Man 5 review!   Stevie 764
Review of the game, "Mega Man 5" for the NES.
Thinking of review...

Complete! Review starts here:
How to play: The controls are the same as the past games, the < and > buttons on the d-pad move megaman, down + A makes him slide, A makes him jump, B shoots, and Start goes to the weapon screen.
How to play: (cont.) You play as the hero, Mega Man who stopped Dr. Wily 4 times already and hasn't gave up, this time though, there is a twist in the story, instead of Dr. Wily kidnapping Dr. light, who captured him?Play the game to find out. You have 3 lives, when you run out, the game ends and you go to the password menu where you can write down the password, the password system since Mega Man 3 has been more complex, where if there is a "C3 Blue" dot, you have to write the color and the column + number on where it is. It took me a while to figure that out. You can get E-tanks, a new addition is the ultimate M-tank which refills everything that you have, your life bar, beat's energy, (If you have him) and all the weapons you have collected. You can have up to 1 M-tank at a time, you can have 9 lives and 9 E-tanks too!
Review start!
Graphics - 8
Once again, Capcom tries again at the graphics and hoping to improve the graphics atleast one bit, the background is more detailed and it was becoming more awesome, especially the level layout. I give the graphical rating a 8.
Sound - 8
More sounds an more music can result into more effort into the sounds and the music, the sounds are still the same, the music is a little better than before. This has some good music, so I give the sound rating a 8.
Addictiveness - 7
The game may be boring at the start, but as you go, it starts to get serious, it is fun to play, I could prefer another Mega Man game you should play, Mega Man 10! I give the addicting rating a 7.
Story- 7
The story is that Dr. light gets kidnapped by whoever it was, and Mega Man has to stop the kidnapper from destroying Dr. light. Basic story, but I give it a 7.
Depth - 8
This game has a very slight increase in adding more stages, the game is hard, but you would always wonder... "Why did Dr. light even get kidnapped in the first place?" This game is long. I give the depth a 8.
Difficulty - 8
This game is hard, but a little easier than Mega Man 4 when I compare how hard it is right here:
MegaMan 4: I can't beat the second stage of Dr. Cossack's castle!
MegaMan 5: I can barely beat it.
So yeah, Mega Man 5 is easier than the fourth game. I give the difficulty a 8.
Overall - 8.6
This game does have more to offer, but why create the same game again and again and again with slight differences, Nintendo should try to make a Mega Man game, NOT CAPCOM! In conclusion, the game is fun, it has nice graphics, replay value, but I do recommend you play this before trying the fourth game.
Thanks for reading the review, check my other ones out!

One of the few games where Robot weapons take a backseat.   Azul Fria
OVERVIEW
Mega Man is back on the NES for his 5th adventure and this time he is on a more serious mission. His creator Dr. Light has been kidnapped and as a cape falls to Mega Man's feet, the kidnapper appears to be none other than his own brother, Proto Man. Say it ain't so, Proto Man.

The game's eight bosses are (in order of creation):
Gravity Man – Has the ability to control gravity and makes it hard to determine which way is up.

Wave Man – Modeled after Atlantis people with a trident on his head. He we shoots spears and makes geysers sprout from out of nowhere.

Stone Man – True to his name, he is made out of stone and he can crumble into rumble and make himself invincible.

Gyro Man – Carries a propeller on his back and likes to hide in the clouds and throw miniature propellers that come down and home in on you once.

Star Man – Take a trip into outer space where the gravity is low. Star Man like to protect himself with his Star Shield.

Charge Man – Thomas the Tank Engine gone wild is the best way to describe this robot. He will be looking to run you over.
Napalm Man – Bombs away, Mega Man. Napalm Man is looking to blow you to smithereens with his Napalm Bombs.

Crystal Man – Nice and shiny he is and his weapon called the Crystal Eye is hard to avoid as it splits into four.

Graphics - A

Graphics are still up to par from the previous games and once again they can play a role within how you expect to play the game. A good notable example is in Gravity Man's stage. You will see in the background that there are arrows pointing up and pointing down. These will actually cue you in on when the gravity is going to reverse when you pass by that arrow. Up = upside down and Down = right side up. Stone Man's stage is made out of lots of rock and it actually hides a lot of paths that leads to items. Some of the graphics make the secret areas obvious as you can shoot them away and others are not so obvious aside from seeing an item in a spot that looks like it is closed off. If you are familiar with Flash Man's stage in Mega Man 2 and Gemini Man's stage in Mega Man 3, you will definitely love Crystal Man's stage as the stage is made completely out of crystal and the stage really sparkles as you go through it and the colors are so nice. Aside from the stages, Mega Man's charging color has changed. In Mega Man 4, he would turn green when fully charged. Now he will change to a blue and black color.
Controls - A
Nothing really changed from Mega man 4, except for the little graphical change when charging a shot that I mentioned earlier. However, there is a weapon that functions different from the other weapons as far as using it. That weapon is the Charge Kick. When you have this weapon equipped, you it by sliding. You can also shoot the Star Crash at enemies if they are in range and with the Gyro Attacker, you can press Up or Down to change its direction when it is in flight.

Gameplay - B-

I had to take some points of for this game as far as gameplay goes as at least half of the weapons you gain from the robot masters are damn near useless except in some boss fights and one of them is even totally useless even in a boss fight and it is better to use a fully charged Mega Buster to deal with just about any enemy or boss in this game as it is more effective than anything else. In each stage, you will find a letter that spells out the word MEGAMANV in the end. In the Japanese version, you will look for the letters that spell ROCKMAN5 instead. Doing this will introduce Mega Man's new comrade, a bird named Beat who homes in and attacks the enemy. He also obtains a Super Arrow which can function as a ride if you jump on it in time and you can also use it to climb. It is not so useful as a weapon. Rush loses his Rush Marine ability and his Rush Coil has been changed to where he will hop up to give Mega Man a boost instead of using a springboard the previous two games.

Here is a small guide to the weaknesses of the bosses in order to their creation:
Gravity Man (weak to Star Crash)
Wave Man (weak to Charge Kick)
Stone Man (weak to Napalm Bomb)
Gyro Man (weak to Gravity Hold)
Star Man (weak to Water Wave)
Charge Man (weak to Power Stone)
Napalm Man (weak to Crystal Eye)
Crystal Man (weak to Gyro Attacker)

After all eight robots are deal with, you will fight through two castles just like in Mega Man 4 (one by Proto Mer by Dr. Wily when he is revealed to be the true mastermind.) The concept would later on be abandoned after Mega Man 6. The first castle consists of four stages and the second castle has four also. In Proto Man's Castle, the gameplay is nothing you have death with already but there is one small twist. All the bosses in the Proto Man Castle are named Dark Man with a roman numeral from I to IV. They are each weak to a different robot weapon and attack in different ways. Dark Man I will only try to roll into you but he falls to the Water Wave easily. Just try to stay away from him as you shoot at him. Dark Man II is weak to the Crystal Eye. He does not try to attack you with any weapon, he just surrounds himself with a revolving shield and just try to run into you. Just jump over him and run to the other side when he gets close. Dark Man III ups the ante even higher. He is weak to the Gyro Attacker but his attacks can put you in a bind with the ability to freeze you in your tracks. When you are frozen, you are at his mercy and you'll be lucky if he doesn't hit you with any of his shots or flat out jump into you for massive damage. In Proto Man Stage 4, be careful which bricks you shoot away because you have to avoid getting hit by the spikes above. When it comes time to confront Proto Man, you'll notice his trademark whistle is off-key. He blasts you and reduces you to one bar of health and then you will hear his whistle again and it sounds like the correct one. The real Proto Man arrives and blasts the fake one revealing the true kidnapper of Dr. Wily, Dark Man IV. Dark Man IV attacks similar to Dark Man I and II but also has the ability to shoot his shield at you. This is one of the rare occasions where the boss is weak to Beat. When he falls, Dr. Wily comes out of the shadows and reveals he framed Proto Man as an act of revenge for betraying him back in Mega Man 4.

Once again, Dr. Wily is revealed to be the culprit behind it all. You fight through a whole new castle and in one of those stages you deal with the Yoku blocks. The bosses get a little bit tougher to defeat as you have to do some fancy fighting to defeat them. The first Wily boss is Big Pets. You have to shoot his two lower segments while avoiding being hit by the side drills then get on top of its platforms and blast its face with the Crystal Eye before the platforms retract. The miniature heads make it harder to fight him. The second Wily Boss is Circling Q9. Watch out for the rocks it rains down from above then when it opens it's sides and swoops down, plug a Gyro Attack into the side of its face. It takes seven hits to kill it. In the third Wily Stage, you will fight against all the eight previous Robot Masters you faced before. They all retain their same weaknesses.

Difficulty - 3
The game still retains a little difficulty but its a stepped down from Mega Man 4. One of the difficult parts to watch out for is during Crystal Man's stage where you will see crystal shards raining out of chutes. Without Star Crash, the jumps can be difficult to make without getting hit by the shards and being knocked into the pit to your death. Gravity Man's stage despite the changing gravity is not too bad. When you are upside down, you have to adjust to the situation but at least the cardinal directions are not affected. You can however die from falling up the pit. Some enemies will change Gravity with you. In Wave Man's stage, you go through a water ski section which is only difficult if you don't keep shooting and watching out for Jet Ski Joes coming from behind. Star Man's stage has some spikes that are placed inconvientienly on the ceiling but they are so bad. The difficult bosses to fight in this game are Charge Man and Napalm as they are a real pain to fight.

Earlier I mentioned how some of the weapons are totally or near useless. I'll go through them. Charge Kick is only useable by sliding. Not many people will think of attacking the enemy this way as you risk taking damage if the enemy doesn't die from the hit with the exception of Wave Man which you can get away scott free if careful. The Water Wave is only useful for attacking ground enemies. Power Stone is not even worth using even against Charge Man whom is weak to it as it barely hits anything unless done up close. Gravity Hold is only good for enemies with 1 HP that are affected by it. One use and they will float away. However, against Gyro Man, it will be his worst nightmare as no matter where he goes, he will be hit no matter what. A similar weapon will come into play in Mega Man 6 called the Centaur Flash and it has similar function but different effect.

Sound/Music - B+

The soundtrack is still catchy as usual but it is not that much any better than anything I've heard already. My favorite songs out of the bunch was Wave Man which was real catchy, Gyro Man which fit the stage pretty well. My only gripe about the music in this game is the fact that the music stayed the same in both castles as in the music was retained through all Proto Man stages and the same story happened with Dr. Wily stages.

Replay Value - A-

The game is still fun to play over and over again because I have said it so many times, you can't play the game the same way twice, there are some stuff you may have wanted to do the first time but didn't get the chance to do so like some levels having different paths. You also may want to look for some secret stuff which Stone Man's stage had plenty of including needing to shoot away some walls in order to find the letter G (letter C in the Japanese version). A buster only run is viable here as you don't need a special weapon to kill any of the bosses like you needed Crash Bombs against the Wall Guns and Bubble Lead against the final boss both in Mega Man 2 or the Snake or Top Spin versus the final boss in Mega Man 3 and even the Pharaoh Shot against the final boss in Mega Man 4. The Mega Buster/Rock Buster can take care of any and every enemy and boss preferably when charged up of course.

Overall - B+

Never really liked this one as much as I did the other Mega Man games but I will still give this game credit where it is due and give it a B+ which is still a passing grade in my book. It could have gone a little bit better with more useful weapons but it seems that Capcom themselves were testing some waters on use of Robot weapons or may have ran out of ideas but oh well. Final grade is a B+ for this game.

Mega Man 5 Review
Graphics - 10
The Graphics are very perfect! e-tanks and m-tanks and 1-ups charge up when Mega Man, the character, charges up his Mega Buster. I just do not know why later systems have less better graphics than most NES games...
Sound - 10
The sounds and sound effects are very interesting and very epic and even extremely catchy!
Addictiveness - 9
I'd always play this game whenever I can and whenever I want to do so. This game, aside from Mega Man 3, is the best Mega Man game I ever played!
Story - 10
What makes the story good is that it looks like a good guy turned against other good guys randomly but the good guy has a trait that does not seem right, even though its short...

Depth - 8
This game is pretty long, but sometimes it does not take too long to beat the game in a TAS, but its still a bit longer than Mega Man 6. In fact, defeating the robot masters is the shortest part in the game. Its so short not even defeating the Robot Masters in Mega Man 3 is shorter!!!
Difficulty - 5
This game isn't too hard at all, but Gyro and Crystal Man's stages are tricky without a correct technique to get to the Robot Master's arena...
Overall Rating - 9.9
The game is almost perfect! What makes the rating 9.9 is the rating for Graphics, Sound, Addictiveness, and the Story.

Fun. Gravity man was disoriented. Oh well, I learnt his pattern anyways. This is underrated but it's as fun as some of the more overrated ones.
