Amazing game! Ducktales, woo hoo!   bsnowotter
From Capcom the creators of Megaman and Street Fighter 2 comes Ducktales, a great cartoony platforming game based on the kids' TV show.  Strangely, Scrooge is given a pogo stick and must travel the world seeking cash lest he become the world's second richest duck (oh no!!).  We the 99% make an exception for Scrooge and like him cuz he is so awesome.
Graphics  8
The graphics are pretty good as the varied locations and baddies serve the gameplay well, though the beagle boys aren't really recognizable.  Most of the other characters from the show look like they should!
Sound  10!
Some of the music in this game is as famous even today as the game itself!  Try googling "ducktales moon piano" if you don't believe me to hear some freaky piano prodigies getting their groove on.
Addictiveness  9
Tight play control, strange-yet-fun pogo-sticking, clear mission objectives yet somewhat open level design, great music and boss fights all add up to an immersive experience that gamers will want to see through to the end and beyond.
Story  8
Pretty good in that there is a good variety to the levels, surprise appearances by cast members who give you directions and objectives mid-level, and also memorable villains and a good ending, though it could've always used more cartoony cutscenes.
Depth  8
There are different endings depending on how much treasure you collect, you may be tempted to replay the whole game, in addition to replaying the levels themselves within the game thanks to a return trip home from Launchpad!  Also check hint websites for how to access the Gyro Screwloose bonus level to amass greater amounts of cash.
Difficulty  7
A fellow review author gave this a low difficulty score, presumably because the game is not unfairly difficult and frustrating, but seeing as how there is an adjustable difficulty setting for gluttons for gaming punishment I awarded a more generous 7 score, not too hard but not lacking in challenge either!
Fans of NES platformers or the TV show go ahead and check out this game!  If you like it, try its sequel too.

The richest Disney game on the NES?   NovemberJoy
DuckTales was a successful cartoon back in its day, and it trumped even other shows produced by the same people - for example, the Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers cartoon was cancelled after a relatively short run(by cartoon standards) due to an extreme lack of quality. It actually seems as though they put more effort into the video game adaption of that cartoon than they did on the actual cartoon! But, enough rambling on about Chip & Dale, what about THIS game, and the level of quality that IT brings? We're about to find out.
Let's start off with the graphics, which actually look really good - everything is detailed, and all of the sprites have a certain charm and personality to them - even the enemies! Though I may not be too picky about graphics - as long as they don't impede the gameplay, I'm fine with them - these graphics still look pretty fine. The ending cutscene, which is also the only cutscene in the game, also looks good - I'm talking about Ninja Gaiden quality here. You see, this is why Capcom is well-renowned even now.
The music and sound is of similar quality, especially some of the level soundtracks - The Moon has one of the best and most well-known soundtracks to be found on the NES! And all the other stages have similarly good music tracks. The sound is also well-put together:everything sounds excellent, except for the noise which occurs upon killing an enemy - it gets a little bit annoying after just a short while. But, enough of that, let's get on to more important things!
The storyline is quite simple - Scrooge McDuck seemingly wanted to become even richer, so he sets off to find five hidden treasures located in different parts of the world. Of course, there are many obstacles in his way, which is what you should expect from a video game.
Now that we've got those things out of the way, let's get on to the most important part of the game - the game itself. So, basically, you get a choice of five different levels - The Amazon, Transylvania, African Mines, The Himalayas, and the aforementioned The Moon. Each level has a different bit of difficulty, but they're mostly ordered downward, from easiest to hardest, except for the African Mines. You also get a small shot of the treasure that you'll be retrieving in each level - and, amusingly enough, the treasure for The Moon is a piece of green cheese.
When you actually start playing the game, you'll be astounded at how the game flows perfectly and almost never lags or flickers. This is the result of Capcom's programming talent, which still manifests itself today. And it's also because the levels are very well-designed - they're difficult enough that seasoned gamers will have trouble with finding secret passages and even secret treasures, while small children can simply get through it normally while being provided with enough items to keep going. It's some of the best design I've seen for an NES game, and it's nice to see that there's a company that actually cares about making their games playable for their target audience.
Of course, the other parts of the game are well-crafted, as well. The controls are simple enough that a small child can grasp them easily - move and duck with the D-pad, jump with the A button, and hold B in midair to...use the cane as a pogo-stick. Okay, I have to give it to them, I never would've thought of anything like that. The pogo-cane is your main method of attack - you can't just jump on the enemies, you have to bounce on them with the cane to defeat them. It's also your main method of transportation, as it allows you to jump a lot higher than with regular jumps, and it also protects the player from spikes. It still won't protect you from water, though:that's still Scrooge's biggest weakness.
The game mechanics are quite simple - three hit points and three lives. Of course, you can get extras of each:there are two extensions for the health bar, totaling five hit points, and you can find extra lives scattered throughout the levels. The score is measured in dollars instead of actual points, so it may seem strange, but it's really not - Scrooge is going on this quest for money, remember? There are small gems, worth $2,000, large gems worth $10,000, and large red gems worth $50,000. And along with those items, there's the health-restoration powerups. These include an ice-cream cone that refills one HP, and a cake that fills the entire bar. There's even a few appearances by a maid character from the cartoon - she tosses ice-cream cones at Scrooge, which really helps children with playing through the game without getting too frustrated. All in all, there's still enough depth to go around...
...but, the difficulty is on the low side. Though there are three different difficulty settings, even the highest one won't challenge the average gamer for very long. That's one of the other things that keeps this game's score back from a 9 or a 10 - it won't last the average gamer very long. I'd estimate about 3 days, at the most, to find everything in the game and explore everything it has to offer on Difficult. Though your skill may differ, 3 days isn't very much playtime, especially when the game is being sold for $50.
But wait! There's also multiple endings - two, to be exact. How do you get these endings, you might ask? Well, to get the first one, you just have to finish the game normally, no special conditions needed. The second one, though, requires you to beat the game with over $10,000,000 collected money, and you also have to get the two secret treasures. It's still not too hard to get it, though, so it only bumps the Difficulty and Depth scores up by one point.
All things considered, this is a fantastic game, and it's definitely worth your time. There are so few problems that it's actually quite unbelievable, and literally everything about the game is made with a special charm that few other games have been able to capture.
Final Rating - A(Just a step below perfection)

A memorable game :)   235689
This is a classic kid's game for the NES. The music is so good. The moon level tune is the most memorable soundtrack from this game. This game isn't hard at all (unless you are playing on difficult) the enemies are creative and the bosses are original. It's not really long though, you can beat it in about half an hour or less if you know the map. Even when you beat the game, you are going to want to play it again. There is no continues because the game designers decided it was too easy so they took it out ( there was going to be one in the prototype. I have played it). The story is that scrooge mcduck goes to different lands including the moon, looking for treasure. After you have beaten all the bosses you have to fight Dracula duck (he was going to be called "Duckula" but they thought it was to cliche) and then race glomgold duck to get the treasures. One you win, you will be able to see the ending. ( no credits at the end)

ducktales=fun   pkmntrainersonic
Ah ducktales.now this is a good title,or should I say a goose title(sorry for the bad joke XD)the game is about scrooge mc.duck looking for treasure.but the ultimate treasure is the game itself.you go to many stages but be warned, the game forces you to play Transylvania 3 times but you should be OK.the main theme is also the theme of the TV show the game is based off of.recently, and when I mean recently I of course mean in 2013,this game was remastered for multiple consoles.this does cost about 44 viz to play but it is a good deal and is worth the price to play the game because it is a cherished game.I have herd this game is like mega man,but it is no surprise because it is made by capcon which made mega man.now I could simply just ramble on about this game(which I am afraid I already have) but that would bore you probably(I may have accidentally bored you)so I will sign off now.this is pkmntrainersonic saying goodbye.

I don't give a Duck what you think... I LIKE THIS GAME!   Phoenix2312
Disney's Duck Tales... What a sham thy don't make this cartoon anymore...
And the game, Well I first played this on the old GameBoy, and have to base most of my review on that - And the comparison between the two...
The most obvious difference, Colour - While the GameBoy was Monochrome - Here its GLORIOUS FULL COLOUR!
Does that affect Gameplay? Well, to be honest I have no idea until I have beat the game again - Those who I know who have played all the way through have suggested there is some colour clash at times... But Where I have played to so far, I have had no problems.
So, Storywise? Scrooge McDuck has had his riches stolen and now has to travel the globe and get them back... Simple! Except the thief is one of his arch enemies and has prepared some devious traps for you.
There is little to say other than that - This is one of those brilliantly simple, bright and colourful games that owes a lot to Mario. Yup! Killing enemies requires jumping on their heads (Albeit with a "Pogo Stick")
There are some very nice puzzles, and six stages to work through... There are also 3 difficulty levels so enough to keep most people going.

Duck Tales, WOOO~OOO!!   endings
Before there was Wario trying to get rich, Nintendo had a duck after loot that wasn't his.  Duck Tales, featuring Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck's uncle, the crabby, miserly, wealthiest duck in the world! He is on a treasure hunt, colleting rare, highly valuable objects in several geographical locations. You will play as Scrooge, who must infiltrate a Transylvanian spooky mansion, a deep african mine, and lost ruins of the amazon.  The good news is this globe trotting duck has a really great game!
You maybe an old duck, but hes got some spring in his step, literally. He can bounce on his walking cane - and do this repeatedly. Its an important step to learn. Less used, he can also do golf swings with his club. You cannot normally jump on enemies, but a pogo cane will beat them!
Each stage has hidden diamonds, in various size and color, that walking over or jumping will get them to appear (look for a small cloud of smoke then they appear. You can also use the pilot, Launchpad, to take you back to the stage select, and pad your wallet by doing the stage over. But he only does this as long as you have not beat that current level.
Graphics: 7
The bright graphics give a kid-friendly vibe, and the locations are given to different shades of color and overall theme is well detailed on the NES. The ghostly manor actually has ghosts, and a mine cart ride in a few levels is pretty fun. You also have to deal with a boss for each level, and its here the game stumbles a bit, they are often no bigger than the richest duck in the world, and are not impressive.  There is a fair amount of enemy types, some reused for other zones.
Sound: 8
This game had a great soundtrack. The Duck Tales TV show had the same bass theme you hear on the title screen. The Moon stage music is over the moon good. The sound effects suffer a bit, being mostly a squeaky death sound when enemies leave the screen, and the sound of all those coins entering Scrooge's vault. Get used to the sound of diamonds being collected. Duck's gotta eat!
Addictiveness: 9
This is a really, really fun game. I owned this game and probably played it fifty times. It can be short, but its cause time goes fast. The levels are all unique enough they don't feel just tacked on for something else to do. The bosses are again, a weak point, but the sheer greed of our hero works well in this game. Even local wildlife are mere obstacles to Scrooge, who will hop over snow rabbits to get to those diamonds, and so will you!
Story: 7
The TV show had many characters, and a fair number of them are present in this. It is not required to understand the game though. You collect the treasures; helping Donald's pesky nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie a few times along the way, and eventually face off against Scrooge's rival, Glomgold. There can be only one richest duck in the world, make sure its you!
Depth: 8
There is not a lot  to Scrooge's moves, he doesn't learn new things, the same old pogo attacks is used the whole game. The enmies are not particularly clever either. But surprisingly, there is a lot of hidden secrets in this game. From markers that raise your max health, even more hidden diamonds, to super rare items that can only be found on select areas. You can rack up huge piles of cash if you find these things! Explore everywhere! The treasure hoarding does go into what ending you get - while not much of an ending, it is fun to see the different piles of loot at the end of the game.
Difficulty: 3
Duck Tales lends itself to a younger audience, and fortunately, this is not a hard game. Its well made and aside from a few tricky jumps I don't see any one getting stuck with this.
Final Verdict: 8.6
Its level design and controls are super tight, letting players of all ages enjoy it. And thats its biggest success. Don't let Wario get all the treasure, let Scrooge show you the wonders of the world.. and pad his pocketbook and your fun meter.

Nice job Capcom   cplegogame25
Finally a good game based on a tv show or movie. Usually games based on that suck but this one doesn't. The game is about Scrooge McDuck going to 5 different places finding a special treasure located there, in order to find these you have to venture through the level and find jewels and keys, then you fight a boss with that special treasure. The music in the game is epic, all of the themes fir in with the level there in, especially the moon theme, you just need to listen to it once and know it's awesome. In conclusion this a great game to play anytime, the only problem i have it is to short and sometimes confusing where you have to go.
