Under-review (bad pun, sans would be proud) BestGamer24
I thought of the title for three minutes. Undertale was released September 15th, 2015 on PC, MAC and through Steam. It was in development for two years and seven months after Toby Fox, the creator and developer of Undertale, raised six times the goal of the game's kickstarter.
One thing that helps Undertale seem original is the fact that you don't have to kill anyone .For this review, we're going into the Underworld. Along the way, we'll meet awesome characters and even fight a few. What happens is entirely up to you. Here's my review for Undertale. (NOTE: There may be spoilers in this review, but I'll try not to spoil the game. Be good, alright?)
GRAPHICS, 9: Undertale has an 8-bit syle to it. Some people don't like it, but it fits the overall style of the game. Most places look good, some great, and the characters looks extremely detailed in battle. The overworld sprites look like sprites from NES games, but, again, it's represented in a 8-bit style. I like the style and it looks great. I feel as if the battle sprites are more of a 16-bit style as they're more detailed.
The locations, such as Toriel's house, can look detailed and realistic. Other places, such as King Asgore's throne room or Snowdin Forest have this sense of exploration and despair.
The animations are a mixed bag. Some look good, some look smooth. Characters walking looks like an average game, but it's walking. It's not supposed to be fancy. The character's animations during battle are smooth, such as King Asgore pulling out his spear and destroying the 'MERCY' button. Even Mettaton EX's constant jumping around during his fight is cool. There's also funny things that happen. If you pet Lesser Dog during his fight, his neck grows. If you keep petting him, his neck grows until it's off-screen, past the speech bubbles, and until he goes to where no dog has been before. Temmie's face vibrates, and Flowey can mimic other character's faces.
Each time a character speaks, a speech box will pop up at the top (or sometimes the bottom) that display's the speakers face with the text. Each character has a unique font, such as Sans with Comic Sans, San's brother, Papyrus, uses Papyrus. Some characters use a thin font. These are usually the random encounters along the way. Undertale's graphics and animations are great, so it gets a nine.
SOUND, 10: This games soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard. The sounds in the game sound great too. The songs play when Frisk (who is the game's protagonist) is exploring different areas, on dates, in battles, or on the main menu.
Some of the best are Megalovania (the song that plays during the Sans fight), Death by Glamour (Mettaton EX fight), bonetrousle (Papyrus fight), Heartache (Toriel fight), and Bergentrucking and ASGORE (Asgore fight). There are so many great songs on the soundtrack that it's hard to pick a favorite. There's many great sounds too. Because of this, sound gets a ten.
ADDICTIVENESS, 10: This is a game that I've played 10+ hours on. It's got multiple different endings (more in the depth section). The game's charm, story, and great characters will keep the player coming back to see if they can find anything more the game has to offer.
Even the combat system is fun and addictive. It's very fun to find out what different endings you can get. Some people get different endings for sparing this character, killing this character just to see what ending they can get. Addictiveness gets a ten.
STORY, 9: The back story is long ago, there were two races on earth. Humans and Monsters. One day, the Humans unleashed a merciless attack becaused they feared monsters would absorb their SOULs. The Humans easily won, because all of the Monster SOULs were not as strong as one Human SOUL. Many Monsters were killed without one Human casualty. The few surviving Monsters then surrendered, and the Humans sealed all Monster under Mt. Ebott. Insane backstory there.
The first 10 minutes of the story revolves around Frisk falling down the bottom of Mt. Ebott, and entering this strange world. Frisk then meets Flowey, who is a flower, who says he'll teach her about the underworld. Flowey then tricks Frisk and almost kills her, when Toriel saves her. Toriel then takes Frisk to her house, and says it'll be best to stay there. Frisk eventually gets bored and wants to explore the rest of the underworld. Toriel is fearful that Frisk won't be able to survive and tells frisk to prove she can survive. Frisk then defeats Toriel, and Toriel lets her into the underworld where she starts her journey.
Along the way she meets very awesome characters. She meets Sans, Papyrus, Undyne, Dr. Alphys, Mettaton, Muffet and more.
Sans and Papyrus are the 'skelebros'. Sans loves bad jokes while Papyrus likes puzzles. Undyne is a guard. Dr. Alphys created Mettaton.
Mettaton is a robot with TV shows, and Muffet is.... queen of the spiders? Frisk also meets Flowey. Flowey's motto is "Kill or be Killed". He suggests that Frisk kills everyone that she sees, so she can become powerful. If Frisk doesn't kill anyone, then Flowey becomes the enemy.
It's a unique story full of unique characters, but some characters aren't explained, such as Froggit, Whimsun, Woshua, Aaron and Moldbygg, just to name a few. The story gets a nine.
DEPTH, 8: Undertale has three paths you can chose. True Pacifist, Neutral, and Genocide. There are many different Neutral endings. There are secret battles, rooms, items, and hidden characters through. Just getting every possible ending can take a long time. This game has plenty of content to keep players busy. The game also has a lot of easter eggs, such as the Temmie Village (one of the best places of the game). The characters can even say different thing depending on what you've done throughout the game. Usually they will say different things if you do different routes. Depth gets a eight out of ten.
DIFFICULTY, 7 : This game features three difficulties. True Pacifist, Neutral, Genocide, and a unfinished Hard Mode.. The game is harder depending on what route you choose. Pacifist has the best ending, but is HARD. Genocide is easy because you have a lot of power. There is also a unfinished Hard Mode. The enemies are harder than they would normally be, but it ends after you defeat Toriel. It is unknown it it's ever going to be finished. Difficulty gets a seven.
OVERALL, 9.5: Undertale is a fantastic game. My 2015 Game of the Year. It's unique and charming story filled with amazing characters, and the fact that you don't have to kill anyone really sets this game apart from other RPGs. It has a fun, addictive combat system, and a Mercy system. Undertale easily gets a nine and a half.
It'll be nice to see what the second Undertale game will be like.
Thanks for reading this review, and until next review, bye!

Undertale Overhead Uzar
Undertale is a fairly recent game. But it's one that has quickly built up a huge following. And...For good reason? Perhaps that may be so. I personally liked the game. Not because of the developer's previous works. But as a standalone work. It's one of the most creative games to come out recently, in my opinion. It reminds me a lot of the Mother series. But it does it in a way that it's not blatently ripping off Mother. And originality is something that I always love seeing. Especially in this age of awful indie games. I LOVE how much DETERMINATION this game gave me from the moment I started playing. ;)
Graphics: 6/10
The graphics are...eh. They are somewhat reminiscent of an NES game. Although with more, and less detail depending on your location in the overworld. It's charming, but also simplistic. It's pleasant though. The pixel art never looked lazy, except for maybe the main character. :P
In the battle screens, the artwork takes a step up. It's fair to say the graphics of this game fall somewhere between NES and GBA. You're treated to a green wire frame screen with a slightly more detailed sprite. The attacks look cool too. Some more than others. Although almost everything but the background is white. Save for a few attacks with different colors, which signify that you need to do a different action. It's pretty cool, which I'll admit. Plus some of the attacks made me burst out laughing.
Addictiveness: 7/10
This game is pretty addicting. With all the different endings, and the plain humor of playing the game the <strike>right</strike> way is more than enough to keep me going. If you find RPG's addictive. Then this is a game for you! As for me...It's addictive for awhile, then I need a break from it for a little while. But that's just my personal habit of playing. But I feel like most would agree with this score.
Sound: 9/10
I love the music in this game! All of it sounds amazing. This game's visuals may set a low expectation for you. But don't be fooled. The music is phenomenal. I can't stop listening to some of the tracks. And I'm not annoyed by them yet. :P
The sound effects aren't very phenomenal however. But honestly, when is there a sound effect that blows you away? Anyway, the sound effects sound good. Although they sound more appropriate for the graphics the game has. They are crisp, but have that overly pixelated sound to them.
Depth: 8/10
There is a decent amount of depth to this game. It has various storylines and endings. Something akin to Shadow the Hedgehog. Although here...You're not the only one who knows you've reset the game. So your actions can cause very different dialogues from some characters. There are a few different endings, characters will comment on your choices, you can
permanently screw up the good end. but this can be remedied by deleting a few files from your computer.
So that is a pretty good amount of depth in itself. As for hidden areas, there aren't many. The only few I can think of now seem pretty obvious, save for one.
The game almost becomes two different things depending on whether you do a Pacifist Route, or a No Mercy/Genocide Route. The Pacifist Route, where you spare everyone and everything, makes the game a unique spin on a typical RPG.
A No Mercy run is where you do quite the opposite, killing everyone and everything. This makes the game feel like a horror game...Where you play as the monster! This route makes this a vary different game. Instead of charming moments, you'll get very depressing moments. You will be told how much of a monster you are, and blah blah blah. Although it leads to some character development that, while pointless because they die shortly after, it gives the characters themselves more depth. Then there are a number of neutral runs, killing and sparing different bosses and enemies causes many very different twists to the game.
All of this adds up to a lot of story depth, but not so much game depth.
Story: 8/10
The story is something that is really spoiler heavy. So I'll do a run through of everything I can without any heavy spoilers.
One day a child who's face was just three lines falls down a hole while exploring a mountain. He/She wakes up in a patch of flowers in some ruins. The child has fallen into the monster world! And there is only one way out now. But a long journey stands between the child and its way home. The king of this land, however, isn't particularly fond of humans though. And would rather have you captured, so he can accomplish his own nefarious purposes...Along the way the child is told that peace can solve all problems. Is this kid peaceful, or the biggest monster in this cavern?
Along the way you meet a fish, some lizards, a flower, at least five dogs, and some spooky skeletons. The characters you meet, like in any story, really pull it all together. Mainly since the player character is silent. :P
Difficulty: 6/10
This game isn't too difficult. It's not too challenging to progress through the game. The enemies are a bit tricky; but only if you're being a Pacifist. If you're doing the No Mercy run (And shame on you for doing that. :P) almost everything dies in one hit. Something that, well, seems really stupid to be honest. The game just feels kind of mindless and pretentious in that run. And there are only two bosses that are actually challenging. In a Pacifist run however, it feels like a half puzzle and half RPG. You need to find the right sequence of actions and words to make friends with your enemies, or just make them not feel like fighting you. It's more like a puzzle game disguised as an RPG.
The controls are pretty simple. You use the arrow keys to move around, Z to talk and interact with things, and X brings up your inventory, as well as hitting back on menus.
With battles you have a few options: Fight, Act, Item, or Mercy. Fight, well, kills things in one hit. Act brings up a variety of options depending on what you're fighting. Do you hug this guy? Do you flirt with this slimeball? Do you ignore this dude? That you'll need to figure out yourself. :P Item lets you use items, all of which only heal you. And Mercy brings up two options. Spare or Run Away. When an enemy's name is yellow you can spare them. Running away is exactly what it sounds like.
When you're attacked, there is a box that appears in the middle of the action screen with a heart in the middle. You control this heart with the arrow keys. You need to move out of the way of enemy attacks, which come on the screen bullet hell style in Touhou fashion (as my research has shown). It's pretty fun! I might have found a new genre I like because of this game.
Overall this game is interesting. Depending on how you go about things, this game can give you good times and bad times. Dank meme reference intended. It's a lot more enjoyble to me in the Pacifist Route. But I can't speak for everybody. The game is charming, and actually pretty funny at times. But it can get heart wrenching at other times. But remember, if bad times come your way, you can always go back and make things right. ;) This game made me laugh, think, feel a little, and write a review. It's a pretty neat game. And if it ever goes on sale, or you happen to be able to buy it, I'd suggest giving it a shot if you like RPG's. I enjoyed it for the most part. :)

"Stay Determined" Undertale Review Nexorla
Undertale, one of the biggest games to have come out within the past year. It is created by Toby Fox and was funded through the site Kickstarter. Since it’s released it has won the hearts of many players and has become one of the most popular games online. The question is, does the game deserve the hype and praise that it gets? This review will explore just what makes this game so beloved by the majority.
Graphics-7/10
Undertale was heavily inspired by games of the NES era, specifically Earthbound, and that is apparent in the graphical style of the game, which is 8-bit. The graphics can be described as simple. For the most part they don’t stray from their simplicity, there are exceptions which won't be mentioned due to spoilers. The graphics unfortunately are weak because of the simplicity, compared to other games of the style, like say Shovel Knight for instance, it somewhat falls short. The graphics are decent to look at however, there aren’t any graphical errors and you can clearly see each character and the scenery. They're also pleasing to look at and not filled with blinding colors
Sounds 10/10
The music of the game is phenomenal. The music does a good job of raising the atmosphere of each place or situation. The first boss battle the song “Heartache” plays which both serves to pump up the player for the fight as well as to make the player feel emotional considering just who they are fighting. Snowdin Town has a sweet song that serves to calm the player and fits the charm and Christmas feel of the town.
One aspect that is quite nice is depending on the route you choose, the overworld music changes. Pacifist/Neutral have the normal soundtrack, however the music played in Genocide route plays different music. The music played is the normal music slowed down and in a place with happier music, such as Snowdin Town, it is very disconcerting to listen to. It really gives a haunting feeling since the music sounds so creepy and you're alone wondering each area listening to the music.
Lastly the sound effects. They’re nothing too spectacular however they’re not bad, they fit with what they’re used for and that’s all that can really be said about them. I don't find anything good or bad about them.
Story- 10/10
It is very difficult to talk about the story of Undertale without entering spoiler territory, however I will try my best to not give spoilers for the story.
The basic premise is the main character, whose name will not be mentioned as you only find out after beating the game, falls into the Underground, a place where monsters were banished to by the humans. So the summary may sound boring or uninteresting and honestly, the beginning of the game may be a bit boring story wise. Once you get into the meat of the story you will find it a fulfilling experience. The journey through the underground trying to find your way back home is an emotional one filled with laughter and tears. The story can branch off depending on the choice the player makes and it is worth it to do every route to experience the full story.
A good story needs good characters to move said story along. Undertale is no exception, it has a wonderful cast of characters. All of which are unique with their own stories and personalities. All of them fit in with the story and are portrayed in a way that can get a player to connect and identify with them.
Addictiveness 10/10
The game can be very addictive. It’s one where you can find yourself immersed in the game world spending hours on just exploring and talking to the characters you meet. The game is a short one and as such it is pack filled with content, content that you won’t want to put down until you complete it.
As stated, the game has three routes. Each route provides different scenes and even then one of the routes, Neutral, has different dialogue in the ending for each action you did in the course of the game. As such the game has a replayability aspect to it for those who want to see every aspect of the game. To get the full story you will have to play through the game at least three times to get all the endings, four if you also want to see the end of a Pacifist run after doing a Genocide one.
The game has also many little secrets and Easter eggs that will leave the player wanting to find them all. These add to the addictiveness and replayability because some of them are secret bosses or even add little aspects to the story, such as a secret character that can be connected to a certain pair of brothers.
Depth-10/10
This game has a lot of depth to it. First off the depth of gameplay. In each battle there are four options you can choose to do “Fight” which attacks the monster, “Act” which allows you to interact with them, “Item” which lets you use an item, and “Mercy” which lets you spare a monster or run away from them.
The three routes are dependent on these options. Genocide involves you fighting them while Pacifist involves you peacefully interacting them so you can eventually spare them. The game accounts for each action you do, if you kill a certain monster, another one can potentially hate/dislike you. Dialogue changes depending on what you have done, so it’s good to do different things on each playthrough to get the full effect of the game.
Difficulty 6/10
Depending on the route you’re going through, the game can be either very easy, or very difficult. The Neutral route is for the most part easy. If you’re gaining EXP then you will be able to survive hits. Really you can easily get through the game without much trouble. You may have trouble with the final boss however it isn’t anything too impossible. The Pacifist route is the middle ground. It’s very similar to the neutral route except you’re not gaining EXP so you have to make sure you’re not getting hit much because you will die easily. Lastly the Genocide route. For the most part it is easy since you can easily kill all creatures. However there are two very difficult Genocide only bosses. The second of which will take hours to beat, hours spent getting frustrated at how many deaths will occur. This boss is heart pounding and really tests the limits of the gamer.
Overall 8.8/10
Overall the game is phenomenal and lives up to the hype that surrounds it. There are many reasons why it is so beloved such as quirky characters to the amazing music. It will take the player on an emotional roller coaster filled with ups and downs. It’s a game that any fan of retro style games can appreciate and even if you aren’t a fan of the style there is a lot about the game that can be appreciated. It’s a game that has to be experience to truly understand just what makes it so special.
~So there's my first review. Please tell me what you think. I tried not to go to much into spoilers but considering the game, that is difficult to accomplish. Hope you liked the review~

Uninformative Title: An Undertale Review zanderlex
What would the world be without a game such as Undertale? Well granted it would be a world with many fewer memes, but it would be a very boring world as well. Undertale I would say was one of the very best games of all of 2015 and easily one of the best indie games along with Rocket League. I remember there used to be all this hype for the game when it first came out but I couldn't understand why the game was that big a deal, but then I saw my favorite Youtuber, Markiplier make 2 videos of it and I right away knew why it was such a good game. Eventually I found out that another one of my favorite Youtubers, Jacksepticeye was doing a full series on the game and I watched every second of it, waiting intently for each new video to be released. I loved watching him play and got so caught up in the game and I knew that some day I had to play it for myself, because I absolutely loved it.
GRAPHICS 8/10
The graphics aren't all that great, they make you feel like you are playing an old retro game but there,is nothing wrong with that because just because the graphics are simple doesn't mean that they are bad, and there are a few times where the graphics go out of the realm of simple as well as normal. For the most part, the graphics are charming, and where they lack in detail, they make for it in many other ways. For this kind of game, the graphics are just fine, and for a grade, this aspect is going to get an 8 out of 10.
SOUND 10/10
Without a doubt, the music one of the best aspects of the game. Sure some of the songs might sound like they come from 2 decades ago, but they are epic! I love pretty much all the songs to bits, with my favorites being Spear of Justice and Megaslovania. I'm not the only one who thinks that the music was, captivating because there are Undertale songs EVERYWHERE, there are hundreds of remixes out there of every song, and I don't mean just plain old remixes, we even have airhorn and kazoo remixes, and even remixes made entirely out of dog barks. Here's the thing though, they are still good, pretty any remix of an Undertale song, no matter how bad it is, is still good. It's not just the music that's amazing, the regular sounds are great as well such as the various sound effects and text. The music is elite and for a grade, this aspect deserves all the extra credit it can get, so it's going to get a perfect 10 out of 10 minimum.
ADDICTIVENESS 10/10
Let's not kid ourselves here, the game is very unique and a lot,of fun. Just the fact that it allows you to pick your own route, between neutral, pacifist, and genocide, and gives you all these different outcomes puts the game on a level of its own. All of the battles are fun and unique in their own way, some of the puzzles are really fun to solve, and let's not forget the comedy, this game does not let up with it's comedy, and all of it is golden. Will you beat the game and then play it all over again just for the check of it? Yes. You may be a bit emotionally scarred when you do, but you're definitely going to play the entire thing over again. The game is that good and for a grade, this aspect is going to get another perfect 10 out of 10.
STORY 10/10
The story is as perfect as it can get, if you don't even play the game but watch someone else play it like what I have done, you're going to feel like you watched a really really good, academy award caliber movie. The story has drama, it has tears, and it's just epic. You play as a kid who fell into a world that is inhabited by monsters, monsters who want to get back into the outside world. Your job is to get out of their and get back home, and while some of the monsters help you in your quest, most of them would rather try to kill you so that they can use your soul for them to escape. Overall, the story is amazing, whether you're playing it or just watching it, and for a grade, it gets yet another perfect 10 out of 10.
DEPTH 9/10
When it comes to depth, the game has a LOT to offer. First off you have a pretty big world for you to explore that's loaded with various puzzles to solve and creatures to battle, but that's not where the majority of the depth comes from. When it comes to this game, the real depth stems from the routes that you can take, which were mentioned briefly before. You can take the neutral route, the pacifist route, or the genocide route. Each of these routes are completely different from each other and have so much to offer so logically you might find yourself playing through the game at least one more time, which can take a while since one play through cold take you anywhere from 8 to 15 hours. Overall, the game offers a ton and for a grade, this aspect gets a 9 out of 10.
DIFFICULTY 5
The game isn't that hard, all you need to do is worry about defending, gotta get away from whatever your opponent is attacking you with. As long as you can defend from their attacks long enough, you should have enough time to either defeat them or not at your own pace. It's easy to get into and once you have played for a while, you quickly adapt to What you need to do, so it's not too hard and for a grade, difficulty gets an even 5.
OVERALL 9.7/10
This game is a masterpiece, after watching all the videos and such, I started to wish that I was aware of the kickstarter when Toby was developing the game because I would have loved to help out with that. No matter what genres you like or don't like, there's always at least a few reasons to adore this game and once you find your reason, you won't want to put the game down. This game is amazing, I'd definitely say that it's one of the best and most innovative games of the last couple of years and my overall grade for Undertale is going to be a 9.7 out of 10.

A great experience of a game DragonSlayer22
This is my first review of a non-RGR game, just a heads-up.I got this game within a couple months of release, where at first I thought it was dumb until my friends showed me some game play and the music, I completed this game in about a month of spare time, and it was worth it.Graphics: 6 The graphics are 8-bit and could be better, although the animations on some of the sprites look great for a game that's supposed to be in 8-bit times, although the graphics is what may have been why this game is hated by some people.Sound: 8 The game has average 8-bit sound effects for simple actions, but the music. The music is GREAT, I mean it puts you in the game and is great to listen to, although there may only be about 5 real songs in the game and the rest are remixed, it sounds amazing still. For a game with 8-bit graphics it shocked me how good the music was.
Addictiveness: 8 I still boot this game up once in a while, but I completed it a while back so i'm just sitting here like -_- waiting for hard mode. (get it?)
Story: 8 This is one of those game where the story revolves around YOU and your choices. The main story is that it is 201X and you are a child that falls into a world full of monsters ruled by King Asgore, and you meet people along the way and can do things or avoid them altogether.
Depth: 9 The game is a bog game and you choices can affect how you play the game. You have to be careful what choices you make and are rewarded with different types of points depending on what actions you do: Spare or Kill enemies. There are many ways to beat the game and it all depends on what you do with who.
Difficulty: 9 The game was pretty hard at one point, especially when fighting the later bosses and enemies Undyne and
Asgore were the hardest for me in particular. You have to know what you are doing when, or else you will get a different ending each time. The combat system is unique and hard at the same time.
OVERALL: 8.8 The game is a fun game that will keep you occupied for hours, and at the moment is only for PC. There may be console or mobile versions coming in the future, but lets just stick for this for now. The game is also
updated and new stuff is added. As I mentioned, the creator of the game Toby Fox, mentioned that there will be a harder mode of the game coming out, as if the game isn't already hard enough. The game is $10 in normal game stores like Steam or Good Old Games (I think it should be $7 to be fair) and should be remembered as one of the most inspirational games in history. Also, a youtuber by the name of Game Theory (Matthew Patrick) game a copy of this game to Pope Francis of the Vatican, as a gift from being a diplomat for the United States, so that's pretty cool. I recommend this game to any person that has a PC and can play this game. You will enjoy it for sure, and hate spaghetti and skeletons along with puns along the journey.
