The Control Point is Being CONTESTED Amiably Otaku
Well, this is it. That game that I thought was only a bunch of weird
source film maker movies turned out to be an actual game. Team Fortress
Two has implanted itself into Internet culture very firmly, and has
provided many animations, stories, memes, and community service, but in
the end, TF2 started as, and mainly is, an online first person shooter,
my very first one at that. And I'm glad too, because this game isn't
like your average fps. What makes TF2 unique you may ask? The use of 9
classes, the high customization options of each, and the diverse
gameplay mechanics you can explore with each loadout. Let's begin the
review.
GRAPHICS: 5
Now I tend to follow a certain code
when choosing a video game... graphics shmaphics. Just like real life,
it's shallow to judge a game by its appearance, but TF2 seems to have a
weird ground of graphic levels. Now the graphics aren't impressive, the
models are all blocky, (can get even more blocky if you need to lower
settings like me in order to play with less lag) and aren't much to look
at, but the game makes it up with its unique styling. While the
graphics aren't advanced like COD or whatever the kids are into these
days on XBox and PS, they look appealing by having a cartoonish feel to
them. I looked into it, and apparently the inspiration of the art style
was based on a 90's or 80's artist, and that happens to be the time
period this game takes place in. It's very resourceful and thoughtful to
make the game like this, and earns the game props. Simple, yet
appealing, that's something I like.
SOUND: 9
The
soundtrack of TF2 is also pretty fitting to the game. It usually sounds
very action-y, like a James Bond/Mission Impossible kind of music. Some
tracks are based off of the characters of the game. The 9 classes come
from various locations like France, Germany, and Australia, and some
music captures these ethnicity's (is that the right word?). Either way,
all the music is very fun to listen to, and it adds to the unique charm
of this game.
ADDICTIVENESS: 10
This feels like a better
time to talk about the mechanics of the game, as they take part in the
addictiveness of TF2. Like I mentioned, there are 9 classes to choose
from, each with unique play styles. The Scout is a scrappy little guy
from Boston, with the voice style to match. He's often loaded up on
energy drinks and is capable of ridiculously fast movement and
acrobatics due to his slim form and energy. He's loud and childishly
rude to his opponents, and his play style is basically to use his
agility to wear down any opponent when 1 on 1. The Soldier is an overly
racist and aggressive American general stereotype, though he was refused
entry into the army for his insane and cruel mannerisms, but has the
illusion he's part of the army anyways. His weapon of choice is a rocket
launcher, which has long range abilities, yet is more powerful the less
distance it has to travel. The explosive splash helps Soldier take on
bigger groups, and he can even use his own missiles to propel himself
across large distances to make up for his slower speed. The Pyro is just
what it sounds like, a pyromaniac. No one knows his true identity under
his/her/it's suit, and Pyro's personality is rather suggestive. Pyro
supposedly believes the world around him is a magical candy and rainbow
world, and isn't aware of the destruction he causes. His game play is
centered around igniting every foe on fire, fighting in close quarters,
and combo attacks with fire, reflect abilities, and critical hits. The
Demoman is very unique, he's not only Scottish, but has African heritage
as well, a black Scotsman! He takes after his Scottish side for his
tradition, honor, and incredible drunkenness. Demoman has a wide variety
of weaponry, grenade launchers, cannons, detonate able traps, even a
sword and sheild, probably making him the most diverse class. The Heavy
is a large Russian man with an unhealthy obsession with his mini guns
and sandwiches... oh I'm sorry, SANDVICHES. He has the highest health of
any class, and also moves the slowest. He mainly shines when paired
with a healing source and when he can hold a point, and his mini guns
are all very devastating weapons. The Engineer is considered the only
normal human being on the team, and is a Texan mechanic who invented
many tools, such as a fully functional teleporter, a healing and ammo
replenishing station, and of course, a deadly stationary sentry robot
that can be upgraded to shoot lots of bullets and missiles. The Engineer
focuses on helping the team with his buildings, but can also fight on
his own in certain circumstances. The Medic is a doctor from Germany,
who has long lost his medical license. His methods are extreme, and he
doesn't care if he has to waste a patient if it means testing his
procedures. Medic uses a medigun to heal his allies and buff their
health, and he can generate various "ubercharges" to make allies
invincible, let him heal faster, or give them critical hits. He also has
syringe guns for combat, good melee weapons, and a weapon called the
crusader's crossbow that let's him damage enemies and heal allies from a
distance. The Sniper is a hardcore Australian, and specializes in, of
course, sniping. Simple as that, he focuses on sniping, and has many
tools to protect him or help allies... in possibly gross ways...
Finally, the Spy is a french agent and assassin who has mastered the art
of stealth and sabotage, and has high tech tools to help him achieve
his goals. He can turn invisible or fake his death, disguise as enemy
teammates, instantly kill any other class through a hard to pull off
back stab, and can destroy Engineer buildings with an energy sapper.
With 9 classes like these, all diverse with obtainable weapons to be
mixed and matched, this allows you to always have a play style to try
and master.
STORY: 6
Now the game itself has events here
and there, but in the game there isn't really much to tell. There's a
RED and BLU team fighting in the middle of nowhere, that's about it, but
there's actually a large back story to the game, still ongoing, told
through comics on the official site. They tell us about Mann co. and
Redmond and Blutarch Mann, two rival siblings fighting over a plot of
land that ironically has no value whatsoever. We meet characters like
the CEO of Mann co. and extremist Saxton Hale, the Administrator who
commands both teams simultaneously and is secretly pulling all the
strings behind Mann co. and her secretary Miss Pauling who assists her
with carrying out commands and dealing with the 9 Mercenaries. There's
an ongoing storyline at the moment involving the assassination of
Redmond and Blutarch by a third long lost brother, Grey Mann, and his
robot army, and quite honestly it leads to many interesting
developments, so I recommend you read the comics yourself. You won't be
disappointed. I would have given the story section a higher rating, but
aside from some events BASED on the story, the story is rarely referred
to within the game itself, and this is the review on the GAME, not it's
comics. Of course I could have given it a much lower score as well, but
I'll just give it some middle ground for this section.
DEPTH: 10
I
already mentioned how there are hundreds of ways to play with the 9
classes and their weapons, but there are also plenty of game modes,
hundreds of maps from the community, and many cosmetics (hat fortress
two anyone?) that you can invest time (and large amounts of money) into
getting to look all classy. In this essence you can never truly finish
TF2, there will ALWAYS be something new to do, and I love that in a
game.
DIFFICULTY: 5
This game isn't like other fps titles.
With many classes and items to counter other classes and items, the
game, as advertised, is more team dependent than anything. You can
easily pick up and play this game, but that doesn't mean you can't use
skill. There are many techniques to make yourself a better player, like
Spy trick stabbing, Soldier rocket jumping, air shots, and aiming in
general. Easy to play, tough to master, another nice balance I like
seeing with these categories.
OVERALL: 9.3
This game
rocks, it has much to offer, much to do, has unique style and charm,
loads of dedicated community service, frequent and hyped
updates, and
HATS. This game has taken me over, and if you want to let it, it will
take you over too. Thanks for reading my first review, may I make many more.

team fortress review! you cheap pyros! drivethemfromou..
Hello, welcome to my review for team fortress. I am going to review this wonderful gem, (duh!) And pick it apart. Have fun reading.
Graphics: 9/10 the graphics for this game, they are spot on. I love the way they went with the graphics. I love how cel-shaded the graphics are, and they look so smooth, and you almost never encounter graphical glitches in this game, which makes it better. And the explosions and special effects are so cheesy and great, as an example, originally, in 2004, they were gonna release this game under team fortress 2: brotherhood of arms or something. And the graphics were awful. Look it up if you like.
Sound: 8/10 I really enjoy the sound for this game. All the extensive funny voice clips, explosion sounds, sound effects, they make this game. And it doesn't give you a headache like some other games, and I personally enjoy adding music to the game, which makes it even better, like a big boombox is on the battleground, lolright?
Addictiveness: 10/10 this game is SO addictive. Playing online, finding hats, constant
updates add a lot to this game. This game will NEVER GET OLD! There is just, so much to do. You could play this for ten years straight and never have it get old. Why do you think so many people have like 1000+ hours on this game, because it will never get old! You can shoot a pyro in the face, laugh at him over voice, camp his spawn and beat him to death with an aluminum baseball bat, call him a nubcake over voice, and listen to him rage because as a pyro he should be the bane of scouts. And then, you can get a hacker vac banned, go to his profile, and heckle him. There is endless stuff to do in this wonderful computer game.
Story:6/10 There is no real story to this game, it is most told through comics. Basically, these two brothers, blutarch and Redmond mann are endlessly fighting over land. And you are a mercenary. Sorry about the shirt length of this category.
Depth;10/10 basically the same as above. But yeah, this game has so much to do, I forgot to list all of it! You can find a weapon for your scout, and it is a can of soda pop tapes to the bottom of a double barreled shotgun. There are so many zany weapons and classes, and they make you always come back for more. And I will describe the classes.
Scout: really fast hyped up dude, from Bronx and drinks too much caffeine. Bane of heavies and snipers.
Sniper: guy who basically stands still and shoots people for teh lulz. Bane of heavies.
Pyro: sociopathic pyromaniac whose gender is always unknown. Bane of everything and what noskill haxorz play with.
Soldier: guy who thinks he is in name and shoots a large rocket launcher at people's feet. Bane of: most things.
Demoman: Scottish sociopath who enjoys making people rage and scream with his chargin targe and sword. Very, very hard to kill. Bane of: everything.
Spy: creepy French guy who cannot stop stalking the engineer. Bane of: heavies, engineers.
Engineer: guy who builds teleporters and sentry guns and dispensers, very weak and noobish, hides behind his inventions.
Medic: sadistic monster who enjoys pain and suffering and he is German. That is all.
Difficulty: 7/10 this game is very hard. People will most likely stomp you for a long, long time until you can get skilled.
Overall: 9.6 while rough around the edges, this game is a wonderful addition to any steam library, as it is free. I highly recommend you give it a try. But don't be expecting to master it on your first go. Now go out there and play!

Team Fortress 2 review alsonic
(Note: Davideo7 just put Team Fortress 2 in the video game room, so I'm posting my review twice.)
Now,time has passed since my last Team Fortress 2 review (like, I literally can’t find it) so I decided to make a new one. Now, you may be thinking “How good is this TF2?” My layout is of TF2. It’s that good. Anyways, since the Love and War
update launched a few months ago, and that was like one of the ‘major’ game patches, I’ll make a review.
Graphics: 9.5/10 Now, I use an emachines. The graphics can get pretty good, but I need to make it look ugly. (Like everything on low
except model detail and texture detail, high and medium respectively) I don’t mind for graphics, and I think this game looks pretty good. The art style is amazing, and it won’t look ugly like some other games (*cough* Call of Duty *cough*). The optimization for this game isn’t very good, as I go 15 – 50 fps and with a lot of framedrops and freezes, but hey, that’s my computer’s fault.
Sound: 9/10 This game’s music is amazing. Each class’s theme fit perfectly with their personality. And the voice acting is amazing, though
it usually racist (making the Russian speak in broken English and the Australian says crickey, bravo Valve). The sounds of gunshots and all that seem perfectly accurate, yet still a bit cartoony.
Addictiveness: 10/10 This game is downright addicting. You’ll spend upwards of 100 hours customizing your favorite classes, learning cool
tricks (rocket jumping and perfecting the trick stab), and playing against all the 12 year olds.
Depth: 10/10 This game has a lot to do. You can do one of three things, 1. Play the game like you usually would, blasting and shooting
enemies to complete objectives, 2. Be a friendly and just make a lot of friends and talking about the latest
update and so forth, or 3. Collect thousands of hats to customize your favorite classes. The last one is the biggest draw, as I have spent hours trying to get the best looking hats for the Medic, Sniper, and Scout. If you aren’t looking for hats, you could always play the game normally. There are (I think) 10 gamemodes you can play in, each having (almost) a dozen or more maps for each gamemode.
Story: 7/10 Here’s the worst part of Team Fortress 2. The story isn’t really told ingame, it’s told in comics on TF2’s official website. However, I’ll try to tell you it as good as possible. It’s the 1850s and 2 brothers, Redmond and Blutarch, convince their father to buy land in the US.
Long story short, the land was useless and he gave each brother 50% of the land and they fought for it until the 1960s. It’s one of the better stories in a FPS, sure, but it’s not enticing enough to just the play the game for the story, as I previously said, it isn’t even told in the game.
Difficulty: N/A It really depends on who you play against.
Overall: 9.1/10 I love this game to pieces and I recommend
this to everyone that plays on PC or has a PC, but be warned, the optimization
is crap.
