noj94's Pokemon Blue Version Review
There are good games... and then are games that instantly make a video-game console worth buying just for the one game. If you are looking at this review it is because either because you love this game and want to see what another person has to say about it, two; you are the average online annoyance who loves to argue about what people love, or finally; you live under a rock and want to see what the excitement is all about. This game is an older one but even so it was this very game that helped me discover Vizzed.com. I'll review this game as it is both in general and how well it functions on Vizzed.
The story is about a young boy who lives in a world full of mysterious creatures called pokemon and in this world people capture these creatures using a snatching trap called a pokeball, many use them for different reason as you'll discover throughout the story, whether it be for pets or for tools. In the story you start off in a small village called Pallet Town where you soon begin your life as a pokemon trainer. As a pokemon trainer your main goal is to defeat the Elite Four by pokemon battle and to become the Pokemon Champion. To get to them you are required to have eight gym badges and to gain these badges you have to defeat the leaders of the pokemon gym by battling them. Throughout the story also come across an organized gang by the name of Team Rocket, who want to gain control of the world using pokemon as weapons, and throughout the story you'll have to disrupt their plans several times. In the game all pokemon have strengths and weaknesses that's somewhat related to the Rock, Paper, Scissors concept. For example you would never send out a fire pokemon to fight a water pokemon and you would never allow a grass (plant-based) pokemon to fight off a fire pokemon or face serious consequences.
This is an old game on an old handheld game system and so for me to accurately rate the games graphics, sound quality, and other things would be an unfair comparison to other newer consoles like the 3DS. However, know that the game wasn't originally meant to be as successful as it is, so the graphics were still cheap even at that time.Their is no color (unless you play it on the Game-boy Color then the game changes between basic colors depending on where you are), everyone has heads as big as the rest of their body, and the pictures of the pokemon frequently look ridiculous. The game has music that though it is now crap in modern terms, I smile fondly remembering how I would hum along with the catchy and memorable tunes as a child. The gameplay doesn't require you to have fast reaction time because the battles are more strategy based and not really battling. It's a great to play on Vizzed using a keyboard because the most intense the action gets is trying to avoid obstacles when riding a bike.
In the game (or more accurately in the red and blue version games) you can get just over 150 pokemon, however you can't buy one game and expect to be able to get all; the only real difference between Red and Blue is the pokemon you can gain in the game. For example you can't gain a Bellsprout in Blue but you can't get an Ekans in Red. Though it's not necessary to beat the game the 'Gotta' catch them all' idea can be addictive and is a major reason for the series' success. To get all of the pokemon you need to either buy both or find a friend who has the opposite game.
Beating the game will keep you busy but finding all the pokemon and all the little secrets here and there will extend your time much, much longer. So if you are looking for a quick game you can finish in a day this is probably not meant for you because there is a lot of commitment in evolving (pokemon change when they get stronger) and catching all of them.
In the end I'll give this game a eight and a half out of ten, I would have given a 9 and a half when this game first came out for having everything just about perfect besides the graphics but now that it's a lot older it needs to be deducted a little more.
A day or two ago I looked to see what were the prices of the two games and they seem to be going back up because they are becoming an antique!

You start out in a simple town with just one Pokémon. With that Pokémon, it's up to you to battle and catch 5 other Pokémon and train them to become strong enough to defeat your rivals. There are 150 Pokémon to catch, and along the way you can teach your Pokèmon new moves, so every Pokémon is different and unique. Because of this, no Pokémon is the best. You need to maintain a well-balanced team of six Pokémon to defeat any challenge that you face. But remember, there are always other trainers out there willing to prove that they can beat you, so be prepared to battle it out with other trainers as well as the Gym Leaders.
Not only that, but Pokémon Blue allows you to interact with other Pokémon owners. Find a friend with Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Red or Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition battle it out with one another. You can trade your creatures with each other, because neither Blue nor Red has all 150 Pokémon. Interaction is essential to becoming a Pokémon master!
It's going to take all you've got to collect 150 Pokémon in this enormous world. Catch them, battle them, trade them. Can you develop the ultimate strategy to defeat the eight Gym Leaders and become the greatest Pokémon Master of all time?
Pokémon Blue differentiates itself from Pokémon Red in that there are different Pokèmon in each game. Common Pokémon in Blue are uncommon in Red, and those in Red may not even show up in Blue. It requires both games to collect all 150 Pokémon and become a Pokémon master.

This is litterally the perfect game or at least at the time it was. Red and Blue started a craze around the world and everyone young and old developed the Poke-fever to catch 'em all! Love this game. I had to rate it 10 just for all the good times I had.

To save, you need to save in-game, than double click the screen with the mouse to save on the emulator. Load by doing the reverse order.
