Hi guys.

So before i start asking stuff, let me introduce you to Super Mario 64 Online (SM64O). SM64O is basically the original Super Mario 64, without hacked levels, enemies or stars. However, this hack by Kaze Emanuar allows you to actually play the game together with other gamers over the internet using the same given IP as you do. There's a program included that allows you to create or join servers. All you gotta do is type in your IP, port and choose your character (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Toad, Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina). If you want to join a server, you can use the port and IP from the host and uncheck the create server option. There are a lot of ups and a lot of downs but it works. And it could be fun to play SM64O with friends over the internet.

The ups of this secretly major hack are that you can actually SEE the others. As if it's a real online game. That means you can interact with them like waving, taunting... or even punching them to take away their energy. Another positive thing is that you don't have to wait for others to be as far as you are with the stars. For example, if you have 40 stars and your friend just started, you can just continue on your own or help your friend. However, the downs are that in the beginning, only 20% of the world PC's were able to run this program, even if you port-forwarded your PC (or whatever you say in that case). Plus you only can join your own servers or the one in Kaze Emanuar's Discord server. (link will not be provided by me) Also, you may glitch, but that's normal for an online game.

But what's more curious than the release on an online version of a retro game is, will Vizzed be able to use an IP and port to create a Vizzed server for this game if possible? The answer to that, i don't know. What i do know is that this game has made skeptical reactions to some people. Others (like me) are excited about it. And what i want to know is this:

What do you think of Super Mario 64 Online?

Sorry if this thread is in the wrong forum. I was confused whether it belonged here, in the ROM Hacking forum or even in the Video Games forum. So my guess was here.

I've actually watched some clips on youtube on Mario 64 online and I'm really impressed on how they managed to put this together with the variety of characters with different attributes and how reliable it's netplay can be. I guess it depends on everyone's internet, but this game is really well made for what it's worth.

The second I saw the trailer for this hack, I loved its concept and the variety of additions to it that make it so cool. This is quite a step up from Skelux's SM64 Multiplayer and the fact that you can use servers to play with friends is like a dream come true. I hope this hack is very successful because it's promising in many ways!
