I recently discovered that Mednafen has rewind capabilities once when playing on Vizzed and found it wonderful. I am trying to get an offline copy so I can play the games Nintendo forced off Vizzed so I can continue to rewind flawlessly. I know how to activate it on Vizzed when using the emulator, but when I download it off the maybe official site, and download the various versions, I find, it doesn't work on my computer regardless of 64 or 32 bit (my computer is 64 bit) and I even tried the Tar file download on the site, and that is given me most likely unrelated problems.

Does Mednafen hate Windows 10 or something? I tried given it administrator privileges and that just doesn't work. I was kinda spoiled by using the Rewind feature for several GBA and was hoping to use it for games offline. I tried the Games Online feature and that is given me all sorts of problems. I don't know if I specifically have to have the games from my Vizzed plugin folder (I never owned the games on Vizzed that I want to play) and various rom sites I am familiar with always lead to corrupted files. Is there a URL that seems to have playable roms, or am I just unlucky.

Mednafen is pretty cool and I would like to use it for the other games it is compatible for offline. If there are other GBC/GBA with an easy to use rewind feature I can settle for that.

Thanks!

Also I am really sorry if there was a better place to put this!

Well...As for sites with playable roms :
Emuparadise, FreeRoms and Nicoblog.
Emuparadise has option to both download and play games online, while FreeRoms and Nicoblog are sites where you can download, but not play.
As for Mednafen :
Uh...I never had trouble with it before. But since I'm playing GBA games using VisualBoyAdvance, I stopped using Vizzed to play anything. So...Maybe getting an emulator is the way?

I know how to download roms. I just wanted to know how to get the URL link for the play your games online portion of Vizzed to work. Every time I give the URL link of a rom I want to play, it says it's corrupted. I don't know if former Vizzed games need to work for the Browse Computer for Game Rom option to work. The games that were removed were never on my account.

I know of sites, I just wanted to know which sites will work for the URL link or maybe it just doesn't like Firefox which is also an option as I use this because Chrome gives me problems for the RGR plugin. I don't know if I can resume the progress I have in games if I switch over to Chrome just to have it work.

This could be a very easy fix and maybe it is my fault, but I figure I would ask just to make sure!

To use the play your own rom part of vizzed you should have the rom downloaded from somewhere already.  That feature is meant for playing roms from your own hard drive.  As far as actually finding the roms, you can use the play rom online option for a game on vizzed which will play it with the same rgr plugin but on an affiliate site and will also download the game to your hard drive.  The folder where Vizzed and the affiliate site save roms can be found here- (C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginRoms).  Otherwise, the only other place I found nintendo roms was freeroms which Tama already mentioned.  One more thing, when you login to vizzed the site will backup your game saves so whichever browser you use will still have all your saves.  I hope this cleared things up for you.

So I download a rom off a site. Do I leave it in the Zip and then have Vizzed link to that? I have been zipping the roms I have and linking to those. I assume that is why the Browse option wasn't working Every time I did use it, it took an obscenely long time to load. Is it as fast as playing a game off Vizzed? Or am I still doing it wrong!

The roms have to be saved here in zip format- C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginRoms

Even when I put them in there in a zip file though it does seem to just stall.  I'd recommend just trying to use the play.rom.online feature on a game in the rgr instead.  I've never had any issues with that.  If you have any more questions, just pm me and I'll do my best to answer them.

Edit- I've noticed that some games still won't download from play.rom.online so if you have this issue you may just want to find a tutorial on how to use mednafen outside of vizzed.  Otherwise visualboy advance is also a great gba emulator and is much simpler to use and I believe it has it's own rewind options as well.

I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help with this since the one time I tried messing around with mednafen offline, it was in Linux and I had no idea what I was doing lol.

Just posting to let you know that I'm gonna move this thread to another forum. Hope you can get the issue ironed out.

Slightly nitpicky here but I was able to work out Visual Boy's rewind feature offline. I don't know how I went this long without noticing that. I like the convenience of Vizzed's Mednafen rewind feature better, but I suppose it can be good for emergencies for when I screw myself over and save stating won't help.

I love the reversed sound Vizzed does when it rewinds... but i suppose this is sorta solved. I don't know BBC code or anything so it would be kinda pointless to try for Mednafen offline. Most of the games that are off Vizzed can be done with Save States and rewinding just makes things easier.

I tried browsing for the roms off the Play Online thing, but can't seem to manually find the program data that contains Vizzed's folder. I have the plugin folder itself on my start menu book marked to be the first thing I see when I go to the Start Menu, but finding it from that search feature for the browsing is beyond me.

Do I put the downloaded rom in that download folder in the zip it came with? Just making sure I have everything else done properly. Is this going to work in Firefox because Google Chrome (if it works) is barely compatible with the Plugin. I can probably transfer over my save files to Google Chrome as I backup my saves on Vizzed to an external hard drive every now and then and can easily make the saves again. I just want to know if this would work better in Chrome.

Apparently on windows 10 the program data folder is hidden by default, I use windows 7 so I can't really help much with that.  If you dig around on google you can probably figure out how to make it visible.  All roms that you want to play with the play your games feature have to be in that folder that I listed earlier and they have to be in zip format.  Any zip file should work as long as it's a game rom so wherever you got it from just drop it in there.  If there's already a rom in there from vizzed then you're already good to go and shouldn't need to change anything.  However, I was unable to get a game to load with that or the play rom online site so you may just be stuck with playing what's available in the rgr and your own offline emulator.
