Introduction:

Dead Or Alive 5:The Last Round:From the developers of (Team Ninja) and the (koei Tecmo) publishers. What can i say about this game..Let me think.Okay.It's simply a martial arts 3-D action game with a story mode to choose OR just a simply one on one arcade mode or if you choose so (tag team) arcade mode which has a roster of 36 characters with two you will have to unlock (But cannot do so within the game, you'll have to buy them which i find irritating) and those two are "Naotora Ii" from "Samurai Warriors 4" and one of the classic female fighters from Neo Geo's "Fatal Fury"Mai Shiranui" .The other 34 characters includes a female character which people question from a certain anime cartoon if its her (I'm not too familiar so i do not have answers either) but her name is "Honoka" Also "Momiji" & "Rachel" from the "Ninja Gaiden" series. And Last but not least, four characters who are special guest's,a special appearance from the classic "Virtua Fighter" series "Jacky"."Sarah"."Pai".And "Akira".Soo now,the 27 remaining fighters who are from the D.O.A series. (Now from Dead Or Alive).

Well, now that i mentioned EVERY ONE who is in the game, you can add that to what this game offers.I'd like to point out that this game is not that type of game like street fighter where you can shoot fire balls or have any special powers, although some fighters have unique special abilities (At times if theyre kind of freaky) but this game focuses mostly on the martial arts fighting styles but there are special power moves that can send your opponent far across the screen for maximum damage.Unlike Street Fighter there's nothing to throw such as a similar Hadouken or a freezing ball to freeze your rivals but i look at "Hayabusa" his special power move is a fireball he charges up then shoots similar to street fighter but hes the only one you'll see doing that type of stuff.Anyways i just wanted to throw that information in here, and now done with. The game also includes a dynamic story line mode which takes you on a journey with most of the characters in the game on their way to the Dead Or Alive 5 tournament. In this journey you will not be able to choose your character, instead a fighter will be given to you in order as the dead or alive 5 story line progresses. You will be given cinematic scenes while the game introduces the main fighters to you and eventually through the scene, you will have a one on one battle.Note: while in this type of battle in story mode you will not be given two rounds, instead one round (Just a battle)since its not tournament fighting. The two rounds as you probably are used to mostly, will return when you reach the tournament. In my opinion, the acting is done well.

The fighters all have unique fighting styles, you will also be given some tag team matches throughout the game on certain occasions. As you observe, there is about 23 different background stages on this steam version (Unlike the Playstation 3 version there are some extra stages) but if its not that much of an issue for you,it'll be something you just let pass. The action is quite [T] for teen rating since having no blood or anything too extreme when it comes to combat.Leaving the story mode option, you will also get modes such as versus where you challenge any one on two-player mode or Arcade mode where this time, you choose which ever fighter you desire and compete against all of your opponents one by one till you reach the end.(No ending scene)mostly just unlocking costumes. The other modes are (Time Attack) where you try to beat the game the fastest you can or (Survival) where you try to survive each round and how long you can endure or (Team Fight) which is similar to arcade mode only you choose two different fighters for tag team action against the computer till you reach the end. Also a training mode where you can learn your skills, and an extras mode where you view cinematic scenes you have unlocked in the story mode. There is also plenty of unlockables to purchase when you check out the DLC.

Graphics:8

The details on the fighters and stages are pretty well done i have no complaints.Nothing too special next to a fighting game such as the new Tekkens but fair enough. The fighters can look realistic while in combat from clothes getting dirty,to sweat dripping from their faces and body. The level designs look beautiful such as the lost world stage or desert wasteland and even the fighting arena which is a wrestling stadium which is one of my favorites. The levels come to life and the environment has that feel like anything can happen while in combat which you have to be careful about, sometimes there is areas where if you do not be careful, your opponent can turn the tables on you.But yeah, that is just mentioning game play. But for example when something blows up in one of those traps ,the graphics look pretty neat when it comes adding that impact. In my book, the graphics are outstanding and realistic (To me) Not much else to say about the graphic designs, nothing to special compared to other games today but classic in my opinion.Even though it may be missing graphical enhancements and fighting stages. For some user (Maybe) it's a let down on certain areas, and rather stick to the console version. As for me saying that its not much of an issue,it is simply because i do not judge much games by their graphics. But speaking for others on the other hand,i cannot say that these graphics are flawless.

Story:7

As i mentioned before in the story mode,it is about the Dead Or Alive 5 Tournament. Each fighter will have their own temporary story line that you will go through with about 3 battles to win before you get to the other character. In this story the participants just want a shot on becoming Dead Or Alive Undisputed champ.Which eventually the game will reveal the champ, only thing is you cannot choose who you want to be champ, the game will decide and that only focuses on one character but i'm not going to mention who is the victor, not going to mention weather it is a male or female, but if you know already you already understand. The story shows the fighters striving to reach their destiny and their dreams of becoming the best in the world. As the tournament ends, you will continue on as Kasumi and some others on their way to the final showdown against other formidable fighters and the main boss battle "Alpha-152" which Kasumi has been searching for since the beginning of the story. Some may not like the story much since many have their own opinions but for me,it was acceptable. It's just a simple story.Nothing so far out of this world.

Sound:8

As for the sound,i am going to be realistic. The sound of this game is amazing and pretty well done.Every one of the characters voices are on point and when one of them are caught in one of the traps of the levels lets say a exploding car,or any other exploding areas, the noise add massive impact. The striking sounds good, the announcer is not too bad,and lets not forget the soundtrack. What i TRULY love about this game is you can make your own custom music style for ALL levels.Even the main menu screen which i figured out not so long ago.And to add more icing to the cake, you can add mostly any soundtrack from mostly any of the  Dead Or Alive series from the 1st game to this current one. That is pretty awesome. You can turn the game old-school if you want switching the characters to any of their previous themes from retro consoles, for me that was pretty outstanding.I love all the theme musics from the characters.Tecmo has done a great job on making music for their games in my opinion. But all those changes can be done once you unlock all the soundtrack by playing through the story-mode and winning arcade events.

Difficulty:7

Like any other Fighting game like this,it is quite simple.Yes there may be button mashing and you will need to learn combos and special power strikes but it is not really all that difficult. It is not brain teasing and you can manage this game with effort and practice. It is simple and smooth on the controls and it is not something frustrating to deal with.It can be potentially hard depending on which number of difficulty the settings are on.i personally find the Boss battle really challenging on the story mode (Alpha 152) It can be easy (that depends how pro you are) and can be really hard though depending on how newbie you are to games like this. But for some one with gaming experience, this game can be managed.

Addictiveness:6

There are some ups and downs for this one.For example,if you like games like these you will find yourself playing these often or every now and then.if you are one who likes playing this but not alone, mostly against online users, then this game on steam will not serve you well there. It is just a decent OFF-Line fighter game.If you are a OFF-line player who loves these types of games ,then it is fun to play on special occasions.

Overall:8.5

To top it off,Dead Or Alive 5:The Last Round has been the last D.O.A in quite a while. And has been the best since the others(I know some others maybe put this one down saying that when it was on "Sega" was better) but this one kind of brong more story and left with a (?) of releasing another sequel.Dead or Alive has always been one of the best titles in the genre of 3-D fighting games its always been a legend. And one of "Tecmos" best
