For years there have been users who have complained about either the color scheme of Vizzed or the overall layout of the site and while I have made changes to make it better over the past few years, I'm definitely open to the idea of changing it up even more.

So the question is, what would you like to see changed with the look of Vizzed? Could you give me examples of websites that you guys like and tell me what you like about them regarding their color scheme or layout?

Well, I shall be the first one to ask: how about we're able to choose from preset color schemes?

We have the Christmas Theme available, but just one isn't enough. I'm not asking for complicated schemes, just basically color changes like the ones rented forum owners and/or mods can now do.

Gamefaqs is an easy example of that. You can choose from different color schemes to adjust to the ones you prefer or you consider being easier to read. They have five colors available, which turn into ten if we count the alternate background color, and I'm ignoring the other four schemes because they're a bit more complicated and thus not strictly necessary.

About layout, I'm not someone who has much use for menus, so I won't mess with that field. What I can say is that at least Vizzed displays in a tidier way than Gamefaqs, or such is my opinion. I'd prefer if Vizzed goes into customization rather than changing the layout.

I spend a decent amount of my time on a site where you can change the site skin to whatever you want (like, a color picker and you can upload your own background and everything). Now, only you can see the site skin (unless you share it). Kind of like the profile customization, actually, only it's the whole site.

If we're going for customization, something like that could be implemented. Idk how hard it'd be to code, but if people don't like the blue and green they can change it to whatever.

I think the actual layout of vizzed is fine the way it is, but I agree with EX Palen and ZeroTails. It'd be cool to have color schemes to change from, kind of like what I used to be able to do with Windows XP when I had it on my computer.

Another idea I came up with is to have different patterns in the background. There could be basic ones like dotted and striped. That along with the color choices could provide an appealing variety.

The layout of the site has a lot more stuff than is necessary and can be confusing. I think it should be made a lot simpler so newer users don't get scared away and so the new users can get where they wont to go quicker.

I have some ideas of how this can be done
-Remove or modify the floating windows. It is too much to look at until you figure out to ignore it. Currently, they are displaying information that I don't care about. I don't need to know the announcements once I already read them and I don't need the "Vizzed Board" intro window. I don't know how I can remove or change them if I even can.

- Add more drop down menus. Finding exactly what you need I too difficult for new members and takes too long for returning members. Important links should be grouped together so you don't need to search for them.

- Simplify the RGR The most important page on the website shouldn't be cluttered. Games should be put higher on the page, links like netplay should be clearer, and unnecessary links should be removed.It should take a new member no more than 15 seconds to find where the games are.

While I'm probably in the minority, I actually like the way the layout is now. With that said, I was slightly overwhelmed after the change. I'm not sure how hard it would be to be able to switch between several different style sheets, but if Vizzed users were given the option of several layouts, each with several selectable color schemes, that might be cool. Like a simple layout, the current layout and some other layouts that are similar to other sites they might be more familiar with. As far as color schemes go, if having customizable site wide schemes would be too complicated, we could just have several preset schemes like Windows or search engines like Duck Duck Go. A high contrast scheme, a dark scheme, etc. I personally prefer darker schemes, which is why I'm fine with the current blue and green.

I would just like to echo at least one comment I've read and that is - I wish I could customize the colors. The layout itself is fine but being able to change the colors would be nice.

I don't really care if it means pre-built color schemes or freedom to change things to look however I choose but having the option to do that would be nice.

Would it be possible to add in a theme similar to Acmlm's rom hack domain? I like the current theme but feel we need variety on pur theme choices or as ZeroTails said, let us create our own.

Changing the color scheme does nothing really. When a guest comes to this site it will still need a default theme (and yes lots of people will hate it). You are only going to be satisfying a small portion of board users here. I guess just give them what they want which is to change colors of stuff, I myself could care less as I like the blue and green one you got now.

As for the layout I like the idea of Vizzed being responsive using css media queries so that the layout changes with the device size window automatically without users having to select what device they are on. Didn't Google once penalize you for having different content from mobile and desktop versions? Maybe they still are.

Mainly, simplify the layout. Take a look at sites like Youtube, Polygon or IGN. Heck, you can even look at the Steam website for ideas on how to update the blue type look that Vizzed has always used.

Use brighter colors, and mix things up. Everything on here is basically one color. Use higher quality images and graphical content.

Create more dropdown menus rather than the floating boxes/windows. Using tools like Flexbox or CSS grid.

I don't personally believe in all this customization stuff that some users are talking about, I would prefer ONE WELL DONE site layout rather than a bunch of tools that only a small amount of users will actually use...but if the majority wants it, maybe you should consider going in that direction.

Pokemonfan1000 : If you are referring to acmlm.org - that site is even more outdated looking than this one.

Looking at many popular websites across the internet, I've noticed a lot of them go for light backgrounds that are easy on the eye (think of reddit, youtube and 9gag for example). An exception is imgur, but that's because the front page is loaded with images, in that case the background should not interfere with the pictures. But for most sites, a light background gives off a calm look and people will want to read what they're looking for. Like others said, this background can still be optional but I think another colour scheme would work well. The banner of the site could stay dark blue, but you could go for light blue or light green as a background colour, that would be close to what the default colour scheme now is on Vizzed.

Oh and the small retro game room picture shows Mario and Zelda, but seeing as they have been removed by Nintendo I think it's wise to change that with something else, as not to confuse people.
