I personally actually like the layout of the site and the color scheme... Having several different layouts and themes available might actually make the site more attractive to a wider audience, though. That's something I can get behind.

EX Palen : I know I value my privacy on the internet and I almost always pick a fake name for things that require one, but I think we should actually hang onto age. It sometimes prove to be useful information when trying to figure out if an account is a rereg. We can leave name and location optional, but even if we decide to make it so you can your age as non-viewable by non-staff, the mods should be able to see it. Kinduh like our registration email address.

m0ssb3rg935 : That could work as well, though as you say age only plays a role sometimes. Not all sites demand to know your age, even those with forums dedicated to +16 threads, which confirms it isn't exactly mandatory.

I guess that we could start by enabling to hide it from most of the community, then have some feedback over if it's okay that way or people wants it to be totally optional. It's not something we will figure out soon, but I do think it's a change Vizzed should undergo.

zanderlex : I'm not sure if David could do that for all Nintendo games at once, but if not then that would be extremely time-consuming to do manually for each game.

They are currently disabled in a way that they show up in RGR and VGR search results, so I agree that they should no longer appear in RGR results but just VGR.

tRIUNE : The RGR pages still redirect to play.rom.online, though. If we get rid of the RGR pages for those games, we should probably link play.rom.online on the VGR pages so it doesn't kill our affiliate.

I've been skimming over the thread over the past few days but haven't responded until now due to not having the time to read over and respond to it all thoroughly but I just wanted to start out by saying thanks for all of your support and taking the time to respond to this


EX Palen : Yeah I think we need more mods and we need mods that are actually doing stuff too. So many times in the past we've had mods do absolutely nothing and they are part of what this site needs in order to have active posting again.


Boured : The site's trafic was already starting to drop hugely before the 1st party Nintendo games were removed. They definitely made it worst but it was already low. Users are afraid to install stuff and having more browser emulators on the site will help with that paranoia.


m0ssb3rg935 : Also the RGR has far more competition now days. When it launched 8+ years ago, Vizzed was one of the few sites on the internet to have browser emulation. Now days there are way too many and while I think Vizzed is still the best out there as far as number of games and content goes, I think tapping into the mobile browser emulation market is the way to go because there's nothing offering that on the internet yet as far as I know.


Zlinqx : I'm not worried about publicity at this point. The site's traffic is 15% of what it was in its prime.


legacyme3 : The number of new users posting is way down and that hugely hurts the site a lot. The posting traffic has been dropping slowly over the past few years but it took the biggest drop in the past 1-2 months.

I do think that the Discord chat hurts the site a lot. I need to find a good chat room to add to the site to replace that so that we can bring that traffic back on the site and so that new users are able to freely chat with users who would use it as well.


JigSaw : Yeah I'll start a thread in the near future with something like "What would you like to see me do with Vizzed or add to Vizzed?". Basically a general feedback thread with ideas of things I should do.

zanderlex : Social media is a definite key to traffic now days. It's just hard to find time to be active on the Vizzed Facebook page when I already don't have enough time to do everything I want with the site itself. I'll try to make this more of a habit that I get into and set aside time for though.

I do like the idea of a current events type thing though that highlights site content and its users. Doing this with both site announcements and Facebook would be cool.

I don't want to lower the TdV frequency. The site needs the TdV to give us surges in content and posts. That helps circulate things. I'll maybe think about dropping it to twice a year though but I'd make a poll to see if users would want that or not first. I think events like the TdV make the site feel more alive.

Scrapping the Vizzed YouTube channel is a bad idea. So much content there and it's a great way to give users a peak at what a game looks like. The channel is a successful channel. We do have a separate Vizzed YouTube channel dedicated to more higher quality content but that doesn't get much stuff posted to it.

I can try to look into making steam more prominent.

The removed 1st party Nintendo games don't prioritize in the search for guests and new users.

The music competitions are very successful, I'm not going to stop hosting them just because you don't like them.

The twitch channel is being embedded for those who have ad block which tells me that you probably have ad block on the site. Stop doing it, you're one of the reasons this site's financial situation is so bad.

I do agree though that the pages need more images and less text but that also requires a lot of time to get images for all of the things we're replacing text with.

David i really think you shouldn't make steam something important with vizzed, the examples i give are enough to stop using it. You spend like $1000+ on what games that are only in steam and only on that place alone?

We cant do anything with these games, the main purpose of them is playing them not use it for content, no for trading and not for money. there is no possible plus side to keep using steam.

1. Have you ever wondered that, if people whine whenever you change the website, maybe they're holding you back? Which would you rather have: A nice looking website layout to attract new users, or a layout straight out of the early 2000s just so you can please the stubborn little babies that don't like change?

2. I never said to stop hosting the music competitions. I'm just suggesting that you add some more variety. The competitions on the website are one of the things that's still doing great.

3. I have an adblocker because this website often gives me invasive and inappropriate advertisements. What's more, advertisements literally lag my computer and cause webpages to load extremely slowly. If I turned off my adblocker I wouldn't be able to access the website at all. You also need to realize that tons of people use adblock nowadays. Yeah, it sucks for website owners and content creators, but what can you do?

4. Yes, adding images takes time. So does literally every single other suggestion in this thread.

5. Look at the 7+ users that liked my post in this thread. They are all users that are very well-known, and much of them are still very active on the website. You can't deny that some of the website's most beloved users agree with me. This supports my points 1 and 3.

I think that right now in time more people are moving from forums to comments just like how they are moving from desktop computers to mobile devices that is why I think we should do something with them to make this site seem more social.

JigSaw : Yeah comments are less commitment. I remade the commenting feature because of how much potential it has and how much more popular it is on the internet compared to forums. I definitely want to do more with them and do something similar to what you had suggested.

I prefer forums to social media. I only recently got an Instagram because of my martial arts coach. Vizzed becoming more like social media would be disappointing to me, even though it's probably the best hope for actual activity on site.

JigSaw: The primary problem with posting activity is that there just aren't enough active users. To attract the users, you need to fix the current errors on the website. So, really, this thread does concern everything that is wrong with the website. You can't get new users for more activity just by fixing the board. Why did all of us come to the website in the first place?

Jordanv78 : I guess I figured that my responses to everyone else would've been the game response I would have given you and since they had posted first I responded to them. There were a lot of users I didn't get to responding to since I was short on time.

Regarding your Game Guides comment, some of the pages that drive the most traffic to the site are actually game guides, specifically game guides for Pokemon hacks.

I think Putting Vizzed on Moblie Phones and Steam is a really bad idea, you're taking a massive risk david and you're stepping into nintendo's line of sight, they're going to shut down all of your ROMs and Emulators if you make the site more social, I heard emuparadise got shut down by nintendo when they were being more social, i think, i'm not sure since i haven't been to that site in a long time now

theweapon2 : We wouldn't be putting Vizzed on Steam, we'd be making Steam gaming a bigger topic on Vizzed. We've also already lost all of Nintendo's first party games, and they seem to be the only company that's on the warpath, so we don't really stand to lose anything if we get out of the underground. In fact, at this point, we only have things to gain from it.

Also, emuparadise is still very much alive. It's true that, along with theisozone, all of their Nintendo property was removed, but they still have literally everything else.
