The Wii U wan a doomed console from the start, there was no denying that a lack of third party support is what killed it, in that sense it was like Sega's Dreamcast nevertheless it has top quality video games that I am very fond of these games, inlcuding Sonic Lost World, a mixed bag for some really. The Zelda HD remakes of The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess (which i also own the originals for the Gamecube and Wii.) Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and Hyrule Warriors by the time these games were released, the Wii U was already in decline so Nintendo needed a make or break game for the system. And that game is by far my favorite game on the Wii U, Star Fox Zero, now Star fox has been a big part of my childhood when i was a freshman in high school I was mates with a bloke named Hudson. Now he is or was a gamer like myself and he played Nintendo as well his personal favorite was Star Fox (the series as a whole.) He's the one who got me into it and for that I'm very thankful by 2008 I had finished every star fox game including the rare and elusive Star fox 2 now I had thought up until 2015, Star Fox was dead due to lackluster sales but Nintendo probably won't allow it I had though Star fox command had killed the franchise for good then came Star Fox Zero and I was hyped I waited ages for something like this and when it was released my Dad got me a copy so thanks Dad now its a great game but the motion controls killed it for some and they are not that bad you just gotta get used to them its like learning to drive a car in some ways now with the forward out of the way its time to begin and as usual I always start with the story.

Level 1, the story.

I have to say I love nostalgia as much as the next person I got this game expecting a sequel to Star Fox Assault, (yeah that's right, Command is non canon in my book.) But in hindsight the story actually felt like Star Fox 64 2.0 and took everything that was great about it then made it even better they got it right, many may not agree but keep in mind this is just my personal opinion and I'm entitled to it one way or another now the story is for the most part like Star Fox 64 but there are some key differences that change things for instance the arwing and landmaster can transform and that is pretty awesome the story goes, that Andross killed Fox Mcclouds father and Fox has brought his fathers team out of retirement, Peppy hare, the wise veteran who invented the do a barrel roll meme, the hotshot ace pilot Falco Lombardi an arrogant flyboy who is very popular with Nintendo fans in general, and of course Slippy Toad the main mechanic of the group. (And a full time burden, I always have to save his hide.) The events of this game are the Lylat wars and in this galaxy wide conflict Fox and his allies have to fight battle after battle and with each victory get closer to Andross and what makes the story great is you can choose the path you want. The story is more or less as i said a rehash. There is a rival squadron of mercenaries called Star Wolf who at times will try to stop the team dead in their tracks and that's pretty much it I cannot go into detail without spoiling it for those who haven't played the game yet but since its pretty much a re imagining I reckon it should be okay. So now we get into the graphics part of this review.

Level 2, the graphics.

If I had to sum up the graphics in one word it would be,gorgeous. The explosions, and flying metal of enemy fighters is so pleasing and satisfying to watch and the lasers going back and forth in each war zone whether in the air, on the ground or even the deep recesses of outer space its just incredible its like watching a fireworks show or a star wars movie this was the type of Star Fox game I waited years for and graphically it was done perfectly I can't think of anything wrong with them they're so good, that if your Arwing takes heavy damage it will actually show it, wear on the paint job, sparks from damaged circuitry and much more but now that I think about it there is a couple of things wrong and one of them is enemy communation boxes are ripped right out of Star Fox 64 3D, and that is just lazy and second this is a HD game the lip movement should be more fluid and realistic at the very least but other than those minor flaws and I mean minor the graphics are perfect, there even is a cinematic view if you lock on an enemy in all range mode and I'm not talking about the reticle here. What I mean, is that in Star Fox Zero you can target an enemy like you would in a 3D zelda game which is a nice touch. The space ships and warships, even the enemy bases have incredible detail so if you love graphics then I highly reccomend you play this game, provided you can get used to the motion controls so now we'll move onto the sound of Star Fox Zero.

Level 3, the sound.

Soundwise this game is stunning and perfect the music is nothing but the best, from the best, Koji Kondo theres not a game around that doesn't have his musical touch the music for this game often features a new music and old music such as the Starwolf theme, my personal favorite, the intense music when you go back to Corneria gives you the feeling that Andross is done playing around, he is furious. then theres the star fox theme that gives the feeling of being in an actual army and about to be deployed onto the front lines, the ominous music in the tunnel leading to Andross is unsettling and you know you can't turn back after coming this far, even Katt Monroes theme got a sweet little remix ending with the mew of a cat the voice acting is phenomonal they brought back the actors from 64 and 64 3D Fox sounds like an actual squdron commander with some boyish qualities, Falco sounds like he's from Brooklyn, Peppy has a lot of pep in his voice and Slippy all I can say about him is his voice is just flat out annoying the voices for the Star wolf team is great as well. Wolf sounds like his voice is a fusion of his 64 and Assault voice and I really like that they did that Andrew sounds the same as he was in 64 and he is as annoying as Slippy is Leon has this vibe of a classy but psychotic assassin and Pigma well I don't really know how to describe his voice other than being a high pitched mess General Pepper sounds like a general would sound like to me so that's a good thing. And Andross doesn't sound like Tony jay in the original 64 (I know it wasn't really Tony Jay it was actually Rick May) overall the sound is perfect except for a few of the character voices so now its time to take it to the next level. As Mario would say, "Lets a go."

Level 4, the addictiveness.

One thing the Star fox series is the best at providing for any gamer, is replay value. the replay value in this game is just nothing short of spectacular, its no Star fox 64 but its awesome while you can only get two sets of medals in Star Fox 64, one for each planet, sector etc in the main game and the others in expert mode, Star Fox Zero completely overhauls it with more medals, I will get to that in the depth section now as I said just now the key to addictiveness in any game is to have good replay value and Star Fox Zero delivers on that with different paths, and outcomes there is nothing more I can say about this addictive on rails shooter.

Level 5, the depth.

Theres loads of depth to this game there are many medals to collect for various reasons such as doing something that is generally not important, shooting down the required amount of enemies etc etc. and it even comes with amiibo function, if you use the Fox amiibo you can use the classic arwing from the very first star fox and, if you play the first version of Corneria, the music will change to the Corneria theme of the classic star fox now that is a nice little throwback to a great game then you have the Falco amiibo which when used, will let you use a black arwing (hmmmm I think Nintendo might have ripped off Poe Damerons Black X wing from the force awakens.) The black arwing is a high risk high reward type star fighter it deals more damage to enemies and can lock on to two enemies at once without the need for two laser upgrades but at a cost. The black arwing will also take double damage so be careful when using it, its pretty fun to use though so you gamers out there should try it. But if you don't have either of those specific amiibos, Nintendo thought that all out too, by collecting every medal in the game you can use the custom arwings at anytime almost a bit like expert mode in a way. Tcharacters interactions with each other is very nice to listen to as well but now its time to look into the difficulty of Star Fox Zero.

Level 6, the difficulty.

This one was cake even getting used to the motion controls was easy but thats just me it probably works differently from person to person but in my case, not one death in this game. Ever. Thats just how easy it is to me but when Your going for a completionist rating by collecting every medal? the difficulty increases only slightly as you often might have to try the level again to get a higher score or get a different medal but its not that bad really there not much to say about the difficulty other than the motion controls but if you master that learning curve you'll be a space ace in no time flat so now its time to go to the final level and wrap this up.

Level 7, overall.

This game is a master piece if only critics stopped to learn about the motion controls but in my professional opinion this game gets it right, no disrespect to critics but you gotta at least try new things but if motion controls aren't your thing I completely understand so lets just agree to disagree. this game is my favorite game on the wii u and i recommend it highly to anyone. Before I sign off, I'd like to apologize for being gone for so long ever since Nintendo became a money hungry tyrant and threatened legal action against Vizzed I can't play classic Nintendo games anymore so now i'll just be a video game reviewer from now on until there is news i can play classic Nintendo again so thank you all for being so patient I hope you enjoy this review, I know I sure did thank you all, and if you wanna leave a reply, that would be very much appreciated.
