Today I thought, you know what would be a fun thing to do? Make unpopular opinions. Then I realized everything these days is an unpopular opinion. People have been steadily getting more hostile over the years, and with the recent election (THAT WAS LIKE A MONTH AGO AND STILL WE HAVE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT HILLARY VS. TRUMP) this has been at an all time high. I recently joined Imgflip, a glorious land where people make memes all day, and it seems I'm not the only one aware. So I jumped on the bandwagon and saw many people like myself getting sick of everyone around me, only we're taking a step further and making cynical comments on top of images. :3

There are quite a few topics I'd like to talk about that in my opinion are made forcefully controversial.

Gender and sex:

Now I'm a pretty ignorant guy, so I probably only got the message like a month ago how people say gender and sex are differentiated. Who's that pokemon!? Slooooooow... For those not up to speed, basically sex is a birth-given distinction between male and female, while gender is now based on social status. A male can be a girl if he wants, or homosexual, bi, etc. I personally respect this, but some don't. There are some who think if you have male genitalia that means you have to be a boy, and your romantic preference of other men or women has nothing to do with gender. Unfortunately the fact that some DON'T support these ideas made the people who are signing up for new genders major jerks, and here's why. Like if you walk up to a male person, and say "hello sir" the reaction could potentially be a very hostile remark of "did you just assume my gender?" Not in those words mind you, think of various curses to fill between the spaces. The answer is yes... I did make the common mistake of assuming sir=male instead of sir=man. However, does that mean I don't support the gender vs sex argument? If anyone is assuming, it's the person you're talking to assuming you have hostile intent, when he/she/they are acting more hostile to a person making an introduction. Even with all these new ideas, this wasn't something taught in schools for us, we know simple values on how a man should treat a woman, not on who necessarily is a man or woman. Generally, if you assume someone is assuming, don't assume they assume you have no right, cause that assumption leads to hostility...... you still with me? I know I lost track. @-@ The point? If you have your gender called out incorrectly, bring up at a good time what you refer yourself as, and if they accept your idea, all is good. If they don't respect your opinion, well shame on them then.

On the other side of the argument spectrum is sex, and well... equality. Yeah, you know where this is going, the holy grail of hypocrisy, feminism. It doesn't matter if you are a subtle feminist or extreme feminist, you have to admit, a group about sexual inequality that only females can take part in is pretty sketchy to begin with. I remember a certain user who I don't remember (I mean I have a few ideas, but I lose track of which users post what yknow...) posting a thread here on Vizzed about the time he jokingly wore a shirt to school with the word "meninist" on it. Several female people called him the scum of the earth over the next two days he went to school dressed like that. Why? Well looking back on the root of feminism, feminists are people who think that they are undermined by men. Facts? The so called "fact" is that if one man is sexist to his wife, that's cause for alarm. Well it is, sexism and racism isn't right anymore, it never was to be honest. But say a male person wants to become a feminist because he supports their agenda? He can't join. Because he's a man. And men are inferior in every respect??? Honestly this is sounding like the Aldmeri Dominion. And now feminists are much more jerky by average than when they started because people poke fun at these prejudicial ideas, making them more defensive, similarly to the "gender police" mentioned above, making them unrespectful to everyone else, because now everyone else is the enemy. These are the reasons I can't support the feminists, far too narrow minded and unaccepting, which is ironic considering their supposed goal.

Liberals:

lib·er·al
/ˈlib(ə)rəl/
adjective
1.
open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values.
"they have more liberal views toward marriage and divorce than some people"
2.
(of education) concerned mainly with broadening a person's general knowledge and experience, rather than with technical or professional training.
synonyms:wide-ranging, broad-based, general
"a liberal education"
noun
1.
a person of liberal views.

A liberal eh? Sounds like a person who would accept new points of view and generally try and get along with other groups. Sounds sweet!

"I like Clinton/Trump"
"But Clinton is a liar/Trump is a pompous jerk"
"And you're a *&#@*( who (#*@( off to Justin Bieber"

I quit.

Currently in Imgflip the fun thing to do is make fun of liberals. I would be posting the memes I'm making poking fun at the extreme aggression people have towards these topics, but then that would link you to the site. Linking you to the site might make you want to see memes. And one of those memes might say poop in it. So yeah, the generalization for liberals is they like to act like whiny toddlers who discovered urban dictionary. Not all of them are, but a majority of the ones we're talking about sound like youtube comment wars. They will stick to an opinion they have, not take any other ways to view their opinion, or any opposing opinions, and anyone who has one is immediately a dumb*** in their eyes. They also tend to make it known they think said person is a dumb*** by making baseless ground upon which to insult them. You know when you're playing an fps and you complain that people aren't doing what they should be, and people start saying you're crying and you're 12 and you're in your moms basement and you're fat and you've never seen a picture of a female orifice when in reality you're a grown woman in her senior year of college? That's basically what it's like to talk to some of these people who say they're liberals, except there's no voteban for either of you. So all in all, if you're gonna be a liberal, be a respectful liberal who's actually a liberal. And before you follow the crowd, actually look up what medicine is being researched before saying every medicine has been discovered and that new medicine research is a cash grab. Because cancer treatment? Isn't very potent. We mentioned this open minded thing before already, do I have to keep reminding it?

I'm sure this could go on for many more paragraphs, but this isn't a game review so I shouldn't make it too long. So let me know, any other kind of gear grinder behavior having to do with people getting mad at other people too easily? These three were big categories people get generally upset for, but everyday conversation also makes people get too mad for silly things. Are there any moments you had when a person started an argument or acted like a jerk over something trivial? And if it isn't mentioned by the time I get back from vacation, I might add onto this topic with the holy grail of "get angry". Unless someone else can cover what I have in mind.

I'm not sure if you're posting this for the sake of just posting "unpopular opinions" or if you're serious in the points you made, but since this is in Debate forum, I'm going to believe it's serious.

I agree with the fact that people have been steadily getting more hostile over the years, but I think all the talk about the election is still valid. Not that it's going to change the outcome of the election, but discussion is not a bad thing. Those pointless violent riots are bad because people are hurt and possibly killed and it's not like we will have a different president if you riot hard enough. I think people have a right to be upset over it though, and it's only been a month. It's been 16 YEARS since the 2000 presidential election where Bush got elected while losing the popular vote and a lot of people still talk about that (sadly, this includes me). I'm not particularly a fan of Bush, but I would take him over Trump or Clinton this year.

Moving on to your paragraph about "gender and sex".

"Unfortunately the fact that some DON'T support these ideas made the people who are signing up for new genders major jerks, and here's why.Like if you walk up to a male person, and say "hello sir" the reaction could potentially be a very hostile remark of "did you just assume my gender?" Not in those words mind you, think of various curses to fill between the spaces."

Sure, there are some crazy people out there who get offended really easily, but it's not correct to generalize a whole group of people as "major jerks". I don't know how many people you have actually walked up to and said "hello sir/m'am" and they flip out on you. It couldn't have been very many because the constant abuse from them would have led you to change your ways to avoid getting yelled at again and again. Most people do not encounter many situations like this in real life, and when they do, it more than likely does not end up like this. A lot of people base the actions of a few (the vocal, angry few) to judge a whole group. It's one or two incidents where someone is "triggered" that goes viral and then everyone starts saying stuff like "trans people get offended over the slightest things". Personally, I don't see why it's so hard for people to call someone by the gender that the person would like (as long as it's reasonable), but I also see no reason for the person who's gender is being debated to get so bent up out of shape. I really don't believe most people will attack you for making an honest mistake.

Ah, the great topic of feminism. Since you have used a definition in your post, I shall do it too.

"fem·i·nism
ˈfeməˌnizəm/
noun
the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men.
synonyms:the women's movement, the feminist movement, women's liberation, female emancipation, women's rights;
informal women's lib
"a longtime advocate of feminism"

Feminism isn't about women being better than men. It is about women being equal to men. The crazies that claim Air Condition is sexist towards women and that men get unfair amount of extra leg room on subways are ridiculous. There are still many REAL feminists throughout the world that want women to be equal to men. Women today have advantages in many fields, as do men. Women aren't majorly oppressed or anything in the US, but it stills exists in countries around the world. Also these people that you mentioned are popularly termed as "tumblr feminists". People like to say crazy stuff on social media so they get attention, it doesn't mean they necessarily are that opinionated about it. Yes, that Burger King Lady who went around screaming at a Pro-life convention is crazy. But she, and people of similar nature as her should not be the "face of feminism". It's quite sad really because this is happening with so many groups, where the actions of a vocal few tarnish the reputations of the innocent majority.

"Currently in Imgflip the fun thing to do is make fun of liberals. I like how you are bashing liberals for not being as open-minded as they say they are, but you just essentially grouped a whole group of people. You even stated in there "the generalization for liberals". Stop right there lol. I don't see why we feel the need to alienate or put the blame on a certain group of people and make them out as "the bad guys". It happens on both sides, and nothing positive really comes out of it. We ALL need to stop being close minded and be more tolerant of others and their opinions. Yes, there are people on BOTH sides who are crazy and over passionate, but the good majority of BOTH sides are sane people. It's just not right to point the finger at one side and tell them to "be respectful" when no side is innocent here.

Most of your points are literally using the crazies that make the news or make internet headlines to categorize massive groups of people. Just think about it, when the news reporters broadcast the Middle East, it almost always has people screaming or rioting. How can people do that 24/7??? The media is portraying it that way to get the thought ingrained in our minds that Arabs are violent, raucous people, when that couldn't be farther from the truth. Who knows, all the riots in America are probably used in news in other countries to brand us Americans a certain way? You will rarely find youtube videos or news articles about the "calm feminist" or the "so very open minded liberal/conservative/independent". Why? Well, just think about how boring that sounds. No one wants to watch a video about a feminist who just wants equality for everyone and talks in a peaceful way. No one wants to read articles about "boring" people. The media reports absurd, eye catching stories, because those are the ones that will give them the most revenue.

Also, a final point. You say these are "unpopular opinions", but you also say that you're on a site with many many people who share these views as you. How can it be so unpopular when so many people have these same views. I have heard the arguments you have used in your post several times before. Yeah, they are not popular among certain people, but you could literally say that about any given opinion a person has. Some people are going to agree with you and some people will disagree with you, no matter what.
I'm not sure if you're posting this for the sake of just posting "unpopular opinions" or if you're serious in the points you made, but since this is in Debate forum, I'm going to believe it's serious.

RDay13 : POINT OF VIEW! HONEST TO GOD POINT OF VIEW!

Well you covered each of my paragraphs, so let me better explain the "guideline" that was in my head when I typed what I did in this essay I would have rather done than my report on "The Cask of Amontillado".

First of all... damn that should have been worded more carefully. It does sound a lot like "EVERYONE IS A JERK IF THEY ARE THIS" but I do state in each paragraph evidence that I mean the extremists... even if it is made to look like a big assumption.

"Not all of them are, but a majority of the ones we're talking about sound like youtube comment wars."

"the reaction could potentially be a very hostile remark of "did you just assume my gender?""

"a subtle feminist or extreme feminist"

I am TRYING to say the overreacters of each group, but then I go and use the plurals without adjectives like the HOSTILE feminists and IMMATURE liberalists. So yeah, should have been more precise in making my sandwich instead of just dumping in the slices.

And I don't just speak from internet experience. I know plenty of people who talk about their own experiences with this, as well as personal experiences on generally rude reactors. Women who look at every little difference as an intentional insult, and people who gladly jump to start a 20 minute debate after overhearing a trump joke. I never even watch the news, or tv at all really. Too much cheese for my... wait that's another food analogy. What have I become ._.

The news is another good point actually, that seems to be a reservoir of hate generalization. Like how it's annoying that EVERY insane killer is a terrorist, and that random gang members suddenly have missile launchers. I've been gullible before (BUY YOUR GOLD EVERYONE!!!) but not that gullible, not in that way.
