Most people sleep in beds but have you ever had a night's sleep somewhere a little bit different and strange? and was it a bad night's sleep? For me,it was on a wooden bench in my friend's house after a BBQ,i woke up in the morning with such a sore shoulder

The only strange place I would say is the chair a long looking chair in the living room. I only sleep on chairs like that when it comes to Christmas time at my cousins house. Apart from that I don't think I have slept anywhere else that would had been more stranger.

My matress before I flipped it over. For months all of these giant springs were coming out of my mattress and they were killing me, either when I would lie down, or getting into bed, and I was always just too lazy to do anything about it.

sonicbros : Instead of the back seat of a car, I slept on the back seat floor which is not flat and is very uncomfortable. Bathroom floor by the toilet while a hurricane was passing by. Friend's couch which was uncomfortable and took a nap on a bench in a public park

On the stairs. Yes, they were steep stairs.

Either that or on top of some metal standards near the Eiffel Tower when we had to wait there with class.

I've never had that great of a mattress, but I can fortunately say that I've never had to sleep anywhere outdoors. About the weirdest place I slept was on the floor while visiting my aunt and uncle. My dad, on the other hand, wasn't quite as fortunate. Several decades ago, he found himself stranded in in Iowa in the winter with basically no money. He wound up taking a nap in front of a gas station and, in his sleep, rolled off into a parking space, where he woke up under a car.

Does "on my feet" count as a place? Because I've fallen asleep while walking a few times before. It's pretty scary to wake up because you're falling.

If not then the strangest place I've slept would be on a drum throne. I actually fell asleep at church once...behind my drum set...WHILE I was playing them. Surprisingly I never missed a beat even while sleeping. Must have been muscle memory or something.
Also any drummer can attest to the fact that a cheap drum throne is very uncomfortable.

m0ssb3rg935 : Dude, that story about your dad is hilarious. xD Can't help but wonder what happened. Did someone see him there and just pull over the top of him? Who does that? Lol Hopefully the parked car was there when he went to sleep...

So, imagine this, your bed is placed kinda to the far right

corner of your room but the bed frame doesn't quite stick with the wall

so this situation leaves a very narrow gap between the bed and the wall

and one night i somehow manage to fall down there while sleeping

and stay asleep till the next morning, i cant move when i woke up and i need

my lil bro to get me out of that gap XD

The strangest and most incredibly uncomfortable place I have ever slept was the  Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

This was several years back, during a powerful thunderstorm. Many flights were cancelled (including mine) and quite a few people ended up spending the night in the airport.

It was noisy all night long, and the bright lights are definitely not conducive to sleep. To top it off, this was when the H1N1 flu was prevalent, and I was very sick for several weeks after. To this day, I really dislike that airport.

I would have to say in the woods during a camping trip. Usually I make sure to get a good sleeping bag because I toss and turn a lot, but one particular night during this camping trip I managed to get the spot with all the big rocks right underneath the tent .

For me the strangest place was a metal bench at the train station. Having missed the last train we had to wait through the night. I basically slept sitting.

When I was 16 I once slept in my friend's bathtub. His dad (who was pretty scary; big bald guy with tattoos all over) told us that he would get mad if he saw or heard us awake after like 11PM. Now we were actually trying to sleep, when I had to go to the bathroom. It was like 11:15PM at that point, and of course as I'm in there I hear his dad coming up the stairs. I was in a panic and went into the bathtub behind the shower curtain and tried to be as quiet as possible. After doing his thing I heard him leave to his room, but after looking through the keyhole I could see that he was in bed reading a book, with the door to his room opened a little (enough to see someone walk by).
The thought of him being mad scared me so much that I decided to just sleep in the bathroom.

I’m always thankful whenever I get to sleep in a real bed with nice-smelling, fluffy pillows, quilts, sheets, etc. I don’t really sleep well unless I’ve completely exhausted myself, so I don’t tend to sleep well anywhere other than in, on, or under a bed I can call my own. I’ve slept standing up while waiting for something (not while on duty of course), in public areas like parks and shopping malls while making sure no one approached me so it was always light sleep (for instance, on chairs and benches on the floor, ground, carpets, sidewalk, roof, tables, sofas, random sports fields, etc.), under some seats at the back of a crowded school bus, in and under bushes, in random trees, on the monkey bars, in random building corners with the stuff I’m carrying as a protective barricade, on the roof of a car I was in the process of washing (the weather was pretty nice ), by a pool, in a pool (yep, I was just floating along until I dozed off and the lifeguard came to make sure I was still alive), inside a small cabinet, under a piano covered with cloth during hide and seek one day, on a large net/bridge-like thing, by some desktop computers for warmth, in/under a pile of snow when snowboarding one time because it was just so relaxing (I’m aware I totally could have frozen to death ^^0;; ), and on some of the most interesting and lovely monuments, sculptures and caves in the world (that I’ve seen so far anyways) that I can’t list just because... =X . Okay, I guess the Grand Canyon and a casino in Las Vegas might be fine to list. I don’t know if any of these places actually count as strange, but all of them are different so I always make sure I’m wearing something warm like a coat or a jacket of sorts so that I can sleep anywhere I go (long, waterproof coats with a hood double as nice make-shift quilts).

Now that I think about it, it’s a wonder that I never fell asleep on one of those demo beds at a furniture store. oO;; I’m also glad I never fell asleep in a cemetery although we went to see the places where the Battle of Gettysburg took place and we were all so sleep-deprived by the time we got there. Also, I normally don’t fall asleep in museums (they are just so fascinating!) but I almost did one time when I was waiting in line at the Smithsonian (being able to see the Hope Diamond was worth the wait though).

In any case, I pretty much sleep wherever I deem it safe to get some shut-eye, so it’s fine with me if I often end up asleep in different locations, but I do try to be more cautious in areas that I don’t know as well and that are a little stranger or potentially more dangerous than others. lol

As far back as I can remember, the most uncomfortable place I have ever slept was the floor at my friend's house. I'm going to be honest, I'm a pretty weird person. I don't find sleeping on the floor to be much of an issue most of the time. However, my friend's house's floor sucked. It was BAD. There was no room for anything else so I had to stick with the floor, and I even had a thingy under me to try and make it more comfortable, but I could still feel the hard, wooden floor beneath me. It was awful. Luckily, I was only there for 2 nights.

It's not the strangest but one of the most uncomfortable places I've slept (excluding military service) was when I was in the Boy Scouts. We were at a camp site and it was spring camp. There were two days of constant rain and the site got flooded out. We ended up doing a class for Wilderness Survival and we were constructing shelters when a massive thunderstorm ripped through the area.

We ended up going to a small cabin for the night instead of hiking the four miles back to our already soggy campsite. This cabin had no heat, no fire place, and I was soaked to the bone. There were no provisions or supplies there and I remember stripping down to my underwear and lying on a bare mattress on a bunk bed, the air temp was high 50s, and I shivered all night long.

I was miserable. And I was all of 12 or 13 years old. I learned some mental toughness that night.

When I was 12 I was on a camp like school trip. (we didn't camp outside as it was way too cold for that). The building we were staying in wasn't the biggest and sadly I had to share a room with my teacher. Those were the most awkward nights in my life. The teacher was fairly young and at least she didn't snore like some of the boys did in my year.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
