It's a simple question, in theory. Sometimes we need to rely on others such as our parents to do simple things like cooking and cleaning, but many of us have grown up enough to do many things on our own. In an educational setting (or a domestic one), how often do you depend on someone? How much do they depend on you?

This is a complicated matter.

You see, I could essentially support myself (I'm even getting a job soon, woo) but I let my parents to most of the normal tasks such as cooking, simply because they want to do it. They offer to do it every day, and any time I start to do it myself, they offer to do it for me.

So I don't depend on them, but I do accept their help. It's optional, and I choose to take that option. I don't depend on anyone except myself.

I'm fairly dependent. While I could probably manage for the most part on my own I still rely on my mom for a lot of things. Aside from basic stuff like housing and finances, the big things she does for me is cooking and washing clothes. Truth to be told, I could pretty much do both of those things (though I'm definitely not as effective at it as her). I know how to use a washing machine, and have had home ed classes in school to the point where I can remember how to do some limited amount of cooking and very occasionally do. I don't however, simply because she willingly does it and I've grown used to it over the years.

I do want to live independently though and I hope to start making that a reality by the time I start university which should be happening less than two years from now. I have past part time job experience and hope to get another one some time next year. There's a fairly decent chance I'll end up studying somewhere far from home where I'll live on my own and thus I'll have to rely on myself (though she'd still likely help me with money). So presently I'm not too worried about being too dependent but rather focusing on getting to that point by doing well in school and staying physically healthy by going to the gym, and eating/sleeping alright.

Honestly I am very independent. I am able to do most things on my own as long as it doesn't involve heavy lifting or being fast XD But due to the fact that I am incredibly lazy and half the things I need to do I don't want to do I have someone else do them for me. By someone else I do mean my boyfriend. I can cook and clean but I simply just don't want to do it. So I'm not really reliant on someone else, I can do anything I set my mind to, but if they are going to do it for me I'm not going to complain.

I am entirely dependable. I have a team of 16 people who rely on me doing my job to keep all of us in business and working. I have them trusting me to make sure payroll adds up and they get their checks accurate and on time. If controlling another person's money ranks somewhere in the "Do I trust them to do it right?" category, I'd say I rank right there at the top.

I also have two kids under 4 years of age who rely on me to get them fed healthy food, transport them alive to different places, and make sure they're healthy, happy, socially and emotionally sustained, and they are 100% relying on me to keep them alive. They don't exactly realize it but I do and it is a scary responsibility.

Lastly, my wife is relying on me to just do the important things in life, like put gas in the car, get bills paid, keep my job moving upward and onward, and take care of all the things that are important in the relationship. I'm only human so I have made mistakes but I've never done anything so critical as to break any trust or lower my credit score.

I do my best to not have to rely on others for anything (although a few people do rely on me), but I do understand the importance of teamwork so I'm fine with working in teams as well. I used to do most everything myself (chores, taking care of others, staying on top of my schoolwork, etc.), so I didn't really have any difficulties when I grew older and started to become more independent in other ways. Now, I can still handle most everything by myself (although there are times when I still have to ask the people around me for some cooking advice). ^^0;;

I'm pretty much self-reliant (kinda)... I rely on God our Father to help me almost all of the time since He and I have a personal relationship, and you might think that sounds weird but let me show you what I mean:

In Jhn 15:5 Jesus says:

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."

I think this is an awesome concept. However, if you want to know how reliant I am as for job as a technician, you can be sure that I will get the job done.

I currently rely on my parents' housing and income, food, basically everything... I kind of hate it, one because there are times that I just really don't feel like being around them, but also because I hate being a leech. I don't really contribute much to the family unit and I hate being a burden on other people. Though, in a way, I guess, everyone has to rely on someone else to some extent. The allegedly independent rely on their employers for income. It's true that you provide your service for a fee, but no one's forced to make that deal. If it's not employers, landlords or parents, it's shareholders, the stock market, anything involving the economy. Even if you're living in the woods in a cabin you built with wood you harvested, feeding on meat you hunted, cured and cooked, you're still reliant on those essential natural things. Everything's a matter of give and take. I just wish I could give more.
