Who are you voting for in the 2016 election? Cast your votes above and then explain why you're voting for his/her (You can also debate but please keep it nice and fair. If it gets too out of hand then I'll have a mod close this)

I am not american but I know I would vote for Jill Stein.I know she has absolutely no chance of winning but I just can't make myself vote for either Hillary or Trump. They are both as bad as each other for different reasons.

DylanMcKaig : Interesting choice. I doubt she would win as well unless a landslide election happens and she gets more votes somehow.

what is a landslide election? do you mean the term "won by a landslide"? if so, that would mean they won with a lot of votes in their favor.

My vote is for Jill Stein. I don't trust Hillary to do any of the things she has promised to the "political left".
And Trump and Johnson's general political leanings are simply not my political leanings.

I'm not actually registered to vote ( any more ), but if I was going to vote for some one, it would be Gary Johnson. Jill Stein would be my second choice, if she was the only viable option for defeating either of the two main party candidates.

It's not so much that I'm against the two main parties, I just can't get behind either one of them. I feel like Hillary would easily be the lesser of two evils in this case, but that doesn't mean I actually support her in any way, shape, or form. I really wish it was reasonable to have more than two choices for the most powerful position in the Country, but that's one of the least broken factors of how our "Democratic" process works...

My reason for choosing who I did is simply because our political ideals would line up the most. It's common sense to choose who you think would benefit your self the most, and I would think the two candidates I listed at the top would not only be best for what I want this country to strive for, but are what's best for the entire populous as a whole.

If other users can agree to disagree, then that's fine too

I'm not voting because being born a year too late exsists.

I honestly hate both trump and hillary. I would only slightly prefer Trump over Hillary due to my parents and the fact I dont get why people are voting for ANOTHER clinton into the white house. Everyone knows what happened to the first one.

I've only heard of Jill Stein. She sounds nice. I like her.

Another 4 years till I can vote whomever does get in, out.

If I was living in the US, without a doubt Jill Stein. To me Trump vs Hillary is basically choosing between the lesser of two evils.

On the one hand you have someone who would destroy US foreign relations, is a hatemongerer who's blatantly racist and xenophobic, mocks people with disabilities, objectifies women, has the mentality and vocabulary of a school kid (if things aren't going my way the system must be rigged). The only good thing I could say about him is that he's not afraid to state what he believes, but that doesn't exactly mean much when you're a literal idiot and just a horrible person in general.

On the other hand we have Hillary, who is probably the worst democrat candidate I can remember ever running. She's a liar, constantly flip flops on issues, doesn't admit to past instances when she has been wrong (just look back at the democratic primary debates with Sanders) and really just gladly does whatever she thinks what will get her votes because who cares about integrity. She is also constantly playing the "I'm a woman" card as a reason to vote for her. If it wasn't for the fact that Trump was running against her I wouldn't even consider her for president.

As for Gary Johnson, he's a libertarian and that more or less says it all for me. I'm an advocate of democratic socialism and was a pretty big Sanders advocate while he was still in the run so I'm about as far from the libertarian ideology as one can get. To me it's basically rich man's anarchy where you let businesses do whatever they want and screw over the poor in process by taking away social security. I'd still vote for Trump or Hillary over him because at least they pretend to be working for the common man.

Jill Stein isn't perfect, I do think her stance on immigration is too naive (speaking from experience, living in Sweden) even if it's better than hate-mongering like Trump. Really I would prefer Sanders to her by a long shot. That said she seems like a rational thinking person, who has integrity and whose core beliefs doesn't go against the very core of my own unlike any of the other three candidates. Not to mention she actually wants to make combating global warming and other environmental threads a high priority which I feel is something that needs to be done. So she would still be a very easy choice.

I'm voting for Jill Stein because I feel that she is the best candidate for us right now, even though she may not win I'd rather vote for someone worth voting for than vote for one of the Numskulls that are currently running for president (The Unlawful Hillary, and Womanizer Trump). She believes in everything I do and I do wish more people knew what she was for.

Create millions of jobs by transitioning to 100% clean renewable energy Create living-wage jobs for every American who needs work, replacing
unemployment offices with employment offices. Advance workers rights to
form unions, achieve workplace democracy, and keep a fair share of the
wealth they create.Guarantee economic human rights, including access to food, water,
housing, and utilities, with effective anti-poverty programs to ensure
every American a life of dignity.Establish an improved “Medicare For All” single-payer public health
insurance program to provide everyone with quality health care, at huge
savings.Abolish student debt to free a generation of Americans from debt
servitude. Guarantee tuition-free, world-class public education from
pre-school through university. End high stakes testing and public school
privatization.
Set a $15/hour federal minimum wage. Break up “too-big-to-fail” banks and democratize the Federal Reserve.Make Wall Street, big corporations, and the rich pay their fair share of taxes.Lead on a global treaty to halt climate change. End destructive energy
extraction: fracking, tar sands, offshore drilling, oil trains,
mountaintop removal, and uranium mines. Protect our public lands, water
supplies, biological diversity, parks, and pollinators.Expand women’s rights, protect LGBTQIA+ people from discrimination,
defend indigenous rights and lands, and create a welcoming path to
citizenship for immigrants. Protect the free Internet, legalize
marijuana/hemp, and treat substance abuse as a public health problem,
not a criminal problem. These are just some of the things that she has a plan for.

Lots of votes for Jill Stein I see. I didn't think she would have many supporters since she and Gary Johnson are the low key candidates running

Davideo7 : Also, could you permaban the people who chose Trump in the poll please LOL, Just kidding about that. It would get really awkward here if we banned people based on their political leanings which would probably hurt the site traffic and that's not what we want especially with money issues.

Trump because sad as it may seem, he's easily the best serious choice we have. I'll leave it at that because I'm actually passionate about this election even though I've never been too terribly focused on one before, and if I speak my mind it'll only upset people and what's the point in a big fight over something we honestly have no control over? Lol

I'm not going to be able to vote this year, but I would've voted for Trump. I don't have anything for either of the candidates that actually have a snowball's chance, but Trump knows money and he's not anti gun. That's enough for me. I don't really know enough about Gary to vote for him, though what I have heard about him makes him seem to be the most presidential to me. Unfortunately, he's a nobody. And no offense to everyone who supports her, I don't know much about Jill, but the fact that she's Green Party is enough that I couldn't vote for her. For all I know, she's a really great person, but just... no. Someone from the CPUSA would probably have a much of a chance of getting my vote as she would.

m0ssb3rg935 : I wouldn't say he knows money too well considering several of his companies have declared bankruptcy in the past. He was able to get out of that, but it did screw over his employees working at those companies. The problem is while a selfish approach like that works when you're looking out for yourself, when your responsibility is the entire US population you can't afford to make big mistakes like that, and then bail out as soon as things don't work out.

That's while also ignoring the fact that being knowledgeable on business economics, doesn't mean you'll be good at handling economic policy for a country which doesn't just regard businesses. It's two different areas.

I'm going to vote for Johnson.  He may be a little weak on foreign policy, but he'd have a cabinet to help with that... and he'd try to balance the budget, which I don't see Hillary doing and Trump's tax cuts and grandiose plans would be even worse for the economy.

Basically, I don't trust Hillary with her private server and all the emails showing collusion to keep Sanders from getting the nomination... and I don't trust Trump with his failed businesses, fraudulent university, and the way he BS's his way through speeches and debates with fact checkers proving he's wrong half the time.

I have heard a lot of people speaking in favor of both of them, primarily by saying "If you don't vote for (Hillary/Trump) then (Trump/Hillary) will win!"  I'm sorry, but I think it's about time we stop accepting the lesser of two evils and tried to prove that third parties are actual choices by voting for them.  Johnson won't win, but just maybe he'll get enough votes that we won't have Everyone Sucks 2020.

Zlinqx : Well, I mean... it's actually not all that uncommon for someone with multiple corporations to file bankruptcy several times. Businesses come and go and there's really no way to prevent that. After a while, markets either become over saturated or dry up. One could argue that his "I'm smart enough not to pay taxes" remark is a testament to knowing money very well, as well as a way of using himself as an example of why the laws need to be changed. As we all know, he's not great with words and has a hard time clearly getting his point across. I do agree that business knowledge isn't enough to be the leader of a country, but as Selden stated, his cabinet and advisors are there to help with that. If we were going to disqualify everyone with zero experience dealing with foreign policy, then that only leaves Clinton, who both sides have admitted to being an absolute failure on. Three idiots and a failure isn't much to choose from...

If this thread decided on who wins the election then Jill Stein would be our president coming in at 11 votes. It'll be interesting to see how many votes the third party candidates get in the election.

Pokemonfan1000 :

Well, people online tend to think differently. We have more European voters, and how they picked a president who believes in redistribution of the wealth as well as providing abortions for poverty stricken women is beyond me.

Also, she wants more military cuts, while Russia is mobilizing and even talking about World War III. I really do not see her as a responsible or ever remotely optional leader for this country period.

And don't worry, we already have a way to punish people for their political views. They are called Trust Points and dislikes, so go wild.

Sword legion : I didn't think of that when making the reply. Thanks for bringing that up. Let's not go too crazy with dislikes and taking away trust points because of someone's political views. I wouldn't want you to get banned or lose your trusted member status because of political season (There would of course be exceptions but not much in the way of them) Political season is about talking about the candidates, the voting process etc in a friendly manner and not in a rude, offensive-esk manner but it seems the rude, offensive-esk way of talking about the election is somewhat popular this year, more so than years past.

I think I'm honestly going to vote for Hillary Clinton, not because I like her, but out of fear that Trump will win, which is 100% the worst case scenario.

I do not care that she's a lying, sniveling, piece of s***. I just care that she's not Donald Trump.

I might vote for a third party, most likely Stein, just because it's important to give them support so they can be on the national ballot in the future, since my state is so blue, my vote doesn't mean s***.

But still, never know. Can't be too safe. If everyone who voted blue felt safe, a third party could win...

OK, that would never happen. Too many sheep.
