Ah yes. Homework. I mean, it's not enough that you're legally required to be at school for 8 hours a day but you also have to use your brain after school as well. Technically you could just not do the HW but then you get bad grades. And as someone who doesn't like getting bad grades I'm forced to do HW.

So what actually gets you motivated to do the dreaded homework? Personally listening to music that gets me hyped up helps me a lot, and so does eating sweets while I'm doing it. Nothing else seems to be effective.

The fact that I can do more than what the HW is is what drives me to do it. If it's a simple 10 question quiz from a hand out or a textbook, I might forget about it or just simply not want to do it. If I'm given a 5 page essay that I need to do, then I have to go all out and complete a section much as I can over the 5 pages, and that's what motivates me.

I rarely ever get HW nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I more or less always have school work I need to do but usually it's something big like essays, studying for exams or something of the like. It's rare for me to get smaller assignments unless I have something left over from class that I didn't finish. At least when we receive smaller homework assignments, it's rarely ever something that need to be turned in so a lot of the time I don't do it unless it's fundamental for understanding the next lesson or for the final examination.

I don't really have any special motivator. I work much more effectively in school since the environment is lower on distractions so if I'm not extremely tired, I might attempt to do it during one of my longer breaks, especially since I usually like to completely focus on what I'm doing in stead of listening to music, eating or doing something else at the same time.

While at home I typically always find something else to do and end up more or less procrastinating on whatever it is I have to do often through games or vizzed. But to be fair I feel like starting this semester I've managed to divide my time more evenly (so far at least). When I do get around to something, my main motivator is the impact it'll have on my grade, but since I do have at least a basic interest in most of my subjects I might also try to immerse myself in whatever I'm doing. I attempt to take an interest in the subject and tell myself it's useful knowledge or at least good common knowledge to have, so that researching it becomes a bit easier. That can work but isn't a very good strategy when I'm low on time, feel stressed out and just need to finish the assignment fast. In other words when I've procrastinated.

It really depends on the type of homework you do really. At most times when I had them there was some I actually had fun doing and looking forward to doing when I got home. Then there was the boring ones. Those ones I got done as fast as I could, but also in making sure I have enough information of whatever assignment I was doing for the boring homework. Sometimes I put on music to help relax and get me thinking on ideas of what to do with the homework. I always told myself if I don't do it I would get into trouble so I guess that was my main motivation to do mine. Its different for everyone though.

Well I have been out of school for quite a while. But when I had homework a few things motivated me. My teachers counted homework as 50% of your grade. So that mean a huge chunk of your grade was earned just by homework. Second I always did my homework early first thing when I got home. There were two reasons for this. First being the lessons were still fresh on my mind. Second my strategy was to get the homework done and not have to worry about it in the evening.  To me I thought homework would help me in the future. That is what motivated me. I know everybody is different but that is what worked for me

Nothing lol I almost never do my homework. Probably why I don't get straight A's because I always ace tests and all that, I just never do my homework.

If homework is important to my grade, like if it's worth more than one grade, then I'll do it. So typically I do projects and big essays. Just nothing like a simple math worksheet. Unfortunately, big essays and projects are all I'm getting this year.

I barely even try to motivate myself to do hw anymore. All I do now is just tell myself if I complete my homework, then I can do whatever I want afterwards.

Well first of all, I enjoy learning. Quite a bit at times. But homework sometimes seems to drag on, although it's enjoyable. I may enjoy it for a moment, then take it for granted soon afterwards. One thing that helps me enjoy it more is studying with others/tutoring. I study Chemistry with others right now, and although it's extremely frustrating at times (one guy I help out is woefully underprepared at all times due to his lack of previous learning, brain development and, well, desire to learn), it's rewarding and empowering. One thing I enjoy is getting to break out of my mold, so to speak. I get to learn how to deal with people from different circumstances. I've also learned (both from my own poor choices and from dealing with this guy) that mooching can lead to poor grades and poor retention. To enjoy learning, you've gotta have a desire to learn. It's good if that desire is deep-rooted. Learning has to be a priority, even above certain interests. I mean, we're required to learn, so why not enjoy it? Learning more leads to greater potential for enjoyment in life. I like that. So although learning may not always be my favorite thing, applying my learning can lead to brilliant breakthroughs that define me.

Don't really need motivation as I have always done it. Also I would get kicked out of college if I didn't do any work at home as quite a lot of learning is self study.

I never did homework personally. Half the time I wouldn't even do projects or essays that were worth a huge chunk of my grade.

I more or less manipulated the system to where if I scored well enough on the tests and did most of the in-class assignments I would still pass with around a C or D ( which is border line failing, if your grading system is set up differently ). Thankfully our grades were almost always weighted which worked in my favor. I was too busy partying and that kind of thing to take ( High ) School seriously.

Learn from my mistakes, kids. Stay in school

When the homework actually means something.

In high school, I never did homework. It was busy work that served no purpose other than taking up time. I passed high school because of my strong test scores. I would pass generally with a low B or high C, depending on how weighted homework was (usually it was the high C though).

Now that I'm in college, however, I always do my homework, because it actually matters with regards to my success. And I don't even mind doing it most days.

My motivation is that it's gonna get me a degree which is gonna help me get a job. Just knowing that I'll be able to do what I like in the future to support myself is enough.

I actually barely did my homework in high school and now that it actually is a depending factor on my success in life that more than enough motivation. It's also stuff that I find interesting so that helps too. When you go off to university / college and find something that you really like doing makes all the difference.

I do homework in college because it affects my grade and my grade affects if I pass or fail. It's as simple as that. I had this exact approach in high school as well (even though most of the work was obnoxious busy work that served no purpose but killing trees).

At least in college, 98% the workload is directly relevant to the work in class, and it does serve a purpose. I use the fact that homework affects my grades which affects the likelihood that I'll land a successful career later on in life. That is my greatest source of motivation to get my homework done.

Here are a few ways to make doing homework less tedious:

- Take breaks in between different subject homework (or for every hour of study, take a 10 minute break)
- Reward yourself when you study without distractions or when you finish assignments (rewards can be a piece of candy, watching a funny video, etc.)
- Form a study group with other people (but actually get things done)

I don't go to school, but I do have to study things for other reasons and for the most part the only thing that motivates me is caffeine. Otherwise, I'd just lay in bed all day in an existential crisis.

Eh, I don't really get the motivation to do my homework till I have to finish it very soon. I guess you could say that deadlines are my biggest motivation in terms of doing my homework. I tend to procrastinate quite a bit, a bad habit that I've tried to get over, but it's really tough. Depending on the class, homework sometimes doesn't even count towards the grade. In math, the teacher does not check our homework, but rather we talk homework checks, which basically is the even numbered problems on the homework assignment. The odd numbered questions have the answers posted, to kinda model how the problems should be done, so I don't bother to do those, since the teacher doesn't care about those

I get motivation to do homework because most of the time, the homework helps me prepare for an upcoming test/quiz. Also, I know that if I don't do my homework, I'll get a bad grade for not doing it and likely get a bad grade on the test from not having enough practice beforehand.

When even that isn't enough I put on my headphones and listen to upbeat music, which makes me be in the mood to do something productive instead of just sitting there.

I know that I'll get a zero if I don't do it, and that probably wouldn't be the best thing for my grades. I need to pass.
