Childhood and coming-of-age is a joyous, natural thing. Little by little, we begin to slowly evolve. Every year we gain new memories and new experiences which shape our perception and insight for years to come. As we move forward, while our past becomes less relevant with the passage of time, we eventually long for a time in which we were simpler people. A lot of the time, our backgrounds, experiences, and memories shape us into what kind of people we are to become later. Childhood is all but taken advantage of when it happens, but quickly longed for after the passage of time.

Do you remember your distant childhood? What do you remember the most, and what experiences shaped you into who you were going to be in the future? Thanks for listening, friends.

I had a great childhood. I had a core group of friends who were involved with my life and we grew up together. All of them made it to my wedding years later and several stood up as groomsmen for me. I still keep in touch with most of them and I hung out this past weekend at one friend's house while we watched all the kids play and his wife kept swatting my behind. She's into my behind. My wife doesn't care.

I also enjoyed school, I played sports, and while my family wasn't rich by any means, my parents found ways to make sure I enjoyed my life. We didn't have a ton but we always had food, we were lived in a safe part of west Detroit in a moderate okay neighborhood, and I did some activities outside school and going out to play.

Life was good. I wouldn't ask for more or fancier or better clothes or more toys. I learned to be creative and invent things as I went and we could play with a cardboard box for a week before we destroyed it. I'm not saying the 1980s were better or worse than now but I was outside all the time and I had fun.

It was a good time. I had a great childhood. I was free from fear and hunger and I knew my family loved me.

Yes I do and most of my past wasn't a happy one. Which is why I try to build on to make a better future for myself. Someone once told me not to look into my past, but look into the future. Since thinking about it can bring me down easily. I am not saying I didn't have some good moments in the past. I did but most I remember is the negativity of what happened. That's why I do my best not to think about it and look onto things that are headed my way for a bright future.

My younger years were pretty alright. I could have been a much better person in elementary school, but I guess no one knew what they were doing then . I was privileged to have the opportunity to play sports and pursue my childhood dreams and interests.  I got pretty good grades when I was in elementary school, and I stayed out of trouble, for the most part lol. I like the nostalgia of remembering my past and the cool and nice things I've done in my 15 and a half years of being on this Earth.

I frequently find myself sifting through distant memories of my past and younger childhood years. I remember old friends I haven't seen in years, watching old Disney movies and doing activities that I no longer do as an adult. Everything was so simple and carefree back then, I often miss the simplicity of my childhood years and I often ask myself "Where did the time go?" and "When did I become so busy?"

At least I can say that I had a good upbringing and a peaceful, exciting childhood. Sometimes I really wish I could either freeze time or just rewind and relive my childhood once more. Life is never as easy and carefree after those early years. I've really come to miss that.

Depends on which part of my past you mean.

If you mean my childhood and teen years, then heck yea. I had awesome friends, a ton of fun partying, and still did things like playing sports.

If you mean early adulthood ( the addict years ) then no. That was nothing more than a depressing chapter of my life I'm glad is no longer taking place.

Not really. Most of my past is actually a blur, all I remember is being happy once.

That's not to say that I'm not happy now, it's just that happiness was a little more plentiful back then. I also remember how terrible I was back then, and I'm glad I'm different now.

It's hard to fondly think of your past when you have so many regrets and shadows lurking in the past. There are some things you might even want to forget forever, but you just can't..

I can say that I fondly do remember it.

My childhood was filled with love and affection. A mom who spent time playing with her children. Giving them nourishment and affection. A Father who worked hard and also made time for his children. They both read books to use, they would even play us games. They taught us right form wrong. The loved us in every sense of the word.

Now that I am older, I think back to those times. The core to my imagination. . . surely it was inspired by those years. A zeal for the truth- even if it meant dropping Christianity, was it not inspired by my own father's zeal? Was it not inspired by my own father's wish for me as his child to be wise?

I hope that I have wisdom. The more I learn, the more I learn I haven't learned much at all. The circumstances a human is born into. . . the truths and lies he will be taught from a young age, and the environment's lasting impact upon his thoughts and image. Some of us are so lucky. Some of us are very abused.

I cannot say I am wise, I can only say that I am gifted. Not of my own merits, I was born this way. . . into this family. A family of love and decent sustenance. I look to what I was taught about the Torah, and the Bible. Indeed they were the core elements of such family focus, and love through discipline and sustenance. I cannot say I have done anything to deserve it. It makes me cry. I cry because of how much I have been given upon some memories. Does this affection not belong to the rest of the world?

I had a great childhood. . . I remember when I was only so tall and looking out my grandparent's sliding glass door. . . I remember playing in the leaves with neighbors, I remember using my imagination to it's limit and only getting to play video games once a week. (this starved us for greater entertainment, so we had be creative.) Eventually we filled notebooks up with our own RPGs, with our OWN system based of Paper Mario and. . .

Wow, how time flew.

I really want to elaborate, but I feel like I'm slowing down and won't make it to the end.

So. . . here I am today. Writing, PC game making. . . I can compose music, I can partake in a day job. . . I'm deeply loved by a family with six siblings. . . It's amazing. I want everyone to feel this way and have a proper upbringing. Not necessarily the exact way I was, but I wish more people had parents and grandparents who loved them. I wish that everyone could be happy in life, and have that moral guidance. The world is really hurting. People say that it needs more love but. . . I don't think they know what love really means.

Love isn't just a feeling of affection. It's the actions you'll take in your duty to a person's well being and ultimate happiness. Love involves sacrifice. It's not just a shallow feeling of doing whatever you want and feel like.

That's the kind of love I think people need in their childhood. ^^

That is definitely a neat question.  For the most part, I fondly remember it.  Especially around when I turned 9 which was when I got into gaming.  I developed most of the interests I have right now around when I was a young teen which I'm also very fond of.  I do think I'm more fond of my young adulthood though.  Because while I had a lot of depressing and just bad events take place, I also made some of the best friends I've had, and I'm still friends with those people today.

I remember barely any of my early childhood, can't remember anything until 2007 so either my brain didn't care or didn't remember anything until then.

I remember mostly everything going back until around 2004, when it starts to get a little fuzzy. I kind of don't want to remember to be honest, haha. It depends on what you want me to specifically remember, really.

"what experiences shaped you into who you were going to be in the future?"

Getting arrested, er I mean the friends that I made while I was growing up.

The time that I spent with my friends, whether they were my high school friends or others are the things that I remember the most, and many of those memories are of fun awesome things.
