Here I am on the 3 hour ride home working on my anniversary thread when I decided it was time I worked on making threads about stuff that happened recently, but never got around to actually saying the stuff.

Maybe a week or two weeks ago I got another job, more like an internship, that doesn't pay, but it's probably one of the best that I have ever had, especially for my field and experience. I got hired to write baseball news articles for an online news site. More specifically a section about my team that's under a pretty big sports site that's partnered with Sports Illustrated.

I did my first article just over a week ago, one on Tim Tebow that happened to be shown on the Fox News mlb feed but haven't been able to write much thanks to the stuff that's been going on.

The best part is, since I study sports in school, after telling a bunch of professors about it, I got offered office space by the college. My school has its main campus and an offsite building somewhere else in Brooklyn that's used for the radio/TV channel, internships, certain projects, and other things.

The school said since this counts as an internship that can be used for credits, I can get one of the spaces. I can only use it on days that I don't have class at all though or else whatever I do there plus 20-30 minutes walking each way would more than likely cut into class time. So I will be using it on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Back to the job itself, I have editors above me and all the things that news places have, and if an article I do is of a broad enough topic, it can get put into Sports Illustrated as well, which sounds awesome. As long as I can stick with this for a good amount of time, hopefully it will help me get a better job somewhere in the field, I even had to have a small workshop on how to put this job on my resume so I know it can do well as long as I sick with it.

zanderlex : Wow congrats! This is actually the perfect job for you. I know before we talked about in a thread I made about basketball stuff and you wanting to join in a way. I am sure you'll be happy with what they have to offer for you. I am sure you will be able to do and handle the job well since its your era and would be able to show them what you can do! ^-^

Writing is tough, especially from a sports standpoint. You have to balance the truth with what the subscribers want to hear and it's a difficult line to walk.

Post the link to your online article so we can read what's going on.

What did you talk about and who did you quote to support your points? What was the article? If you can't post it because I need a subscription, at least copy and paste it on here or otherwise get it to us. I'm interested to read what you had to say.

Ghostbear111: I plan on posting the links on Monday or Tuesday when I'm on my laptop.

I tried quoting someone, but the editors said leaving it out was the best bet. The article was about how bringing Tim Tebow to baseball would be a marketing and promotions dream.

Ghostbear1111 :

Here, I just finished an article I'm working on and I can copy and paste most of it, since it probably won't go live until tonight or for a day or two so I wouldn't be able to link it for a while.

I was supposed to be writing an article on Jose Fernandez, with leggy making a statement in it, but that got pushed back.

A lot of this isn't edited yet and the formatting, pics, links, have not been put in yet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During the 6th and final game of the World Baseball Classic qualifying rounds at MCU Park in Brooklyn, Mets prospect Josh Zeid did what he had to in order to ensure Team Israel won.

After pitching four perfect innings, Team Israel starter Jason Marquis was pulled. It was a strange move in a scoreless game and being nowhere near the pitch limit. Zeid took over for the next three innings and was nearly as good as Marquis.

Zeid ended the teams combined No-hit bid in the 7th after issuing a walk to Jasrado Chrisholm, but other than that was perfect. Team Israel then had seven No-hit innings under their belt to go along with a 6-0 lead over Great Britain. Great Britain was the team who scored 14 Runs just two days earlier against Pakistan.

Zeid recorded three strikeouts, including one to Binghamton Mets Outfielder. Stuart was ejected for comments made towards the umpire, along with great Britain manager.

Though both the No-hitter and Shutout were broken shortly after Zeid was replaced, Israel won by a score of 9-1 with Zeid recording the win. Zeid didn't just pitch himself to victory, he helped his own cause with some spectacular defense, snagging a hard hit liner aimed at his face.

Zeid signed a minor league deal with the Mets earlier this season on June 11th. He compiled a 4.74 ERA with 116 Strikeouts over 129 Innings split between Binghamton and Las Vegas. Between 2012 and 2015, the Tigers and Astros used him as a reliever.

Also joining Zeid and Team Israel was Mets former First Baseman Ike Davis. Since leaving the Mets at the start of the 2014 season, Davis has only played 10 games in New York. 7 of those games were at Yankee Stadium. Davis received a warm welcome home, but did not perform well. In the final game as the Designated Hitter, Davis went 0-3 with two Strikeouts.

With the victory, Israel claimed the 16th spot in the World Baseball Classic. In March, Team Israel will face off against South Korea, Netherlands, and Taiwan. Some MLB players that can join Team Israel in March include Ryan Braun, Alex Bregman, and Ian Kinsler, among others.

That sounds awesome! I've been writing news articles for almost a year now (on and off) but it can be very draining when you spend lot of time on each article. I like writing exclusive news stories that no one else has broken yet those are the most fun to do but can be hard to find at times.

One of the reasons why I started writing news was because I felt normal media outlets report nothing but death, shootings and black people rioting *-* It's depressing.

When the links are ready let me know I'd like to check it out.

Nice work, that is a good start so far. Have you considered starting up your own website for Mets news? Might be something worth investing into if you have the time for it. Could just be a simple site where you could promote your articles on.

JigSaw : I've had my own blogs before, and all over the place too, Blogger, Sportsblog, Mlbblog, and I guess all those helped me land this. I guess I like this more because while a blog is just a blog, this is a full job, and newspaper stuff too.

I had a pretty cool moment just now. I tweeted out the article and both the player who's the highlight of the article as well as one of the stars of the game likes it.
