I just read in one of my local newspapers 2 more crazy gun incidents that took place, the first one happened in tampa florida when a 23 year old man who was with his 24 year old cousin late saturday decided to put on a bulletproof vest and"wondered aloud whether it still worked"police say his cousin then pulled out a gun and responded"let,s see"and shot his cousin in the chest they found the 23 year old man outside of their house with a gunshot wound to his chest he was rushed to the hospital he died shortly after he arrived, the 24 year old man was arrested and was being hel sunday without bond on a manslaughter charge.
in the second article I read a 2 year old boy in quakertown pennsylvania accidently shot himself to death in his grandparents home, according to authorities the boy was pronounced dead monday at the hospital suffering a single gunshot wound to the chest emergency medical personnel responded to the shooting at the home in milford township, bucks county, north of philadelphia, police are investigating the cercumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether anyone was home at the time, how the child got the weapon and who owned the weapon, according to authorities the shooting appears to be accidental

I've actually said before that all we need to do to prove or disprove the theory that we evolved from apes is wait a couple hundred years. I mean... with the rate at which we're devolving, it won't take any time at all to revert back. It's silly to think that we have access to the level of body armor that military and police do, but the fact that the guy was stupid enough to shoot him while he was wearing is just.... wow. If you want to test body armor, use a pork shoulder or something.... People like this give the rest of us a bad image, as does the two-year-old incident. You can't just leave that stuff lying around. Locked up in a safe doesn't do you any good either, but never where kids can get to it. Maybe there should be mandatory gun safety classes before purchasing. The best solution here is education. Teach your children as early as they can understand and this won't happen.

For the first incident, it seems like the cousin thought it would be funny to see if he could pull off a scene from a movie, but sadly, it backfired and resulted in manslaughter. =/ I always thought people weren't supposed to point their guns at anything that they didn't want dead, but I guess that's just me...

As for the child, may he rest in peace.

These happen so often it's sad. Biggest problem
is how to deal with idiots. I mean why would you want to
shoot anyone to test a vest? It is just stupid.
I know so many people that have no business holding a gun and
do so illegally just to seem cool.
The other end of that is the kids, the young children that do not know the
danger behind these guns and such guns are not stored properly
and left to easy to reach.
It is dumb and dumber.

P.S. Layout in working progress

The first one is just sheer stupidity. I hope that SOB gets his salad tossed every night in prison. That was pure, unfiltered stupidity and he deserves no mercy for that.

The second one is another example of what happens WHEN YOU DO NOT SECURE YOUR WEAPONS PROPERLY!

That first incident was just sheer stupidity. "Hey bro look at this thing I found" "Dude what if I shot you at point blank with this gun right now?". Sometimes numbskulls root themselves out of existence...

The second is very, very tragic. And is exactly what happens when A. you leave guns loaded, and laying around the house where even a 2 year old can get to them. And also B. Fail to have, or use, a gun safe or gun case. Containers created specifically to avoid horrible accidents like this. I feel so sorry for that poor baby's family...

Honestly it's incidents like this that make me feel like a lot of people aren't responsible enough to own guns in the US. I do realize there are responsible gun owners but when this keeps being a common affair it seems like gun ownership at least needs stricter regulations. At least I don't have to worry about something like this happening in my own country.

Zlinqx : I don't think 'responsibility' is the correct word is a majority of the cases of gun violence in the United States. I mean, we don't talk about how many hundreds of gang members are shot down every year in south Chicago. That doesn't get play. I don't think 'responsible gun owners' are the ones in control of those firearms in the first place.

And yes, the part where children or family members shoot themselves, those are irresponsible gun owners. Those people, that's terrible. But the NRA, the National Rifle Assocation, has some simple rules to follow that make things like this easy to avoid. There are rules, recommendations, and a learning process that teaches people to not leave firearms loaded. There are places to practice and train safe gun handling.

So, responsibility plays a part. But a huge number of shootings are on purpose, no doubt.

Ghostbear1111 : I'm not trying to say that it's the sole reason I'd be for stricter gun regulations but it is a big one. Lots of innocent people die, deaths that could've been avoided. Aside from that, you're right, that most shootings are on purpose, but I think they would've been less likely to have occurred if the US didn't have a history of loose gun regulations.

Zlinqx : At what level do people have to take care of themselves. I think the question is worth asking: "How many people die from gun violence compared to heart disease, obesity-related diseases, or even car accidents?"

I can tell you gun violence is down compared to the dangers of eating cheese a lot, McDonald's, and not exercising. Most people don't like exercise or complain about it and it's easily the number one factor, when combined with a healthy diet, that allows them to live longer, healthier lives.

But no one moderates cheese, do they? New York City went after poly-saturated fats a while back and I'm not sure how those numbers look.

Also with driving, registration is simple, driver's ed tests are nothing, and people text and do other things while driving on the road.

Let's compare numbers and look at what deaths are truly avoidable.

And yes, there needs to be stronger education with firearms, especially with families and people who have kids. 100 things can go wrong. It's terrible when something so simple isn't avoided and someone dies. I'm with you that there are changes needed. But I think there are bigger picture concerns in the United States that can be dealt with aggressively compared to any 2nd Amendment issues and regulation.

We have bigger fish to fry.

Ghostbear1111 : I think there's a difference when it endangers other people. Eating McDonalds daily is one thing, you're choosing to eat there and that's your right when it concerns your own body. A two year old being killed because their grandparents weren't responsible enough to keep their gun unloaded is not.

I feel it's simply a case of the benefits of having loose gun restrictions being outweighed by the problems that come with it. Many people die in car crashes, but it's also one of the best modes of transportation and one that is a necessity for modern society to function.

Nowhere did I state that this should be the top priority, nor do I know where you got that impression from. I think the consequences of having loose gun regulations is a relatively small problem compared to something like the effects of global warming. However that doesn't make it any less of a problem.

This is kind of sad another one.  for the first one and second one all I can do is shake my head....like I said before I wonder what next which would surprise us in that department area. I tried questioning these things in the past and now I can't. Because things I feel just don't make sense anymore with these types of things that still goes on in daily life of people. '-'
